1349530 I have not yet read this book, but I watched Bill Moyer's Journal on PBS and this man, Andrew Bacevich was the guest. I was fascinated listening to him. This is information that we all, citizens, need to hear, AGAIN. I feel we have heard these truths but have failed to let it sink in and think about what it all means.

1090620 Jeaneane,

Run out today and either buy this book or borrow it from the library. You can also find a discussion of it in the Books I Want to Talk About" Group.

977268 It is a great book. Heavy criticism on American consumerist lifestyle, riddled with history of the last half century explaining how the U.S. is in it's many positions (Iraq war, falling economy, etc).

Must read for anybody wondering what was going on in the years that the history books don't cover yet.

2438059 Just Wondering..

Are there significant portions on the pragmatical limitation of 'respecting' power?
