Welcome Elizabeth and Emily! I glad so many people are joining the group! xDElizabeth: lolz. you probably are the only one who's graduated. xD though there might be one or two others. xD I'm glad you like reading so much. xD
Emily: You sound like such a cool person! I wish I was that talented. xD and reading is amazing. xD
Hi I'm Emily (sorry it took me so long to reply) I LOVE this series I play the trumpet piano and love to play tennis and ski. I READ ALL THE TIME!!!
Hi! I'm Elizabeth and I'm a Children & Youth Services Librarian in Virginia, originally from Utah. (Am I the only one in this group who is finished with school?) Anyway, I'm a big fan of fairytales (Shannon Hale, Gail Carson Levine, Robin McKinley, etc.) and was excited when I discovered this series! I'm glad that they are still writing new ones - because I'll keep reading!
Welcome Rachel!I'm glad you love the series so much as well as some other great authors. xD I hope you'll enjoy our group!
Hey, I'm Rachel!! I LOVE this series... As well as anything by Shannon Hale, Suzanne Collins, and (of course) Suzanne Weyn, Comeron Dokey, Debbie Vigue, etc. I play cello & piano, I write,I play soccer & swim, and I'm an avid movie- watcher AND reader. ;P
i'll be getting that book out soon. tell me, for those of u who have read it, if it's any good!hello, melissa! welcome! goodreads is great. :) you get to see other retold fairy tales and stuff on the shelves and add them to yourself to read. ^^
that's good. xD If I had gone to the lib today I would have gotten it. D; oh well. there's always next week. xD
Naomi wrote: "lolz. I just saw that book the other day. I almost got it. xD"It's pretty good so far. I'm probably going to get the second one in the series which promises to be better from reviews i've read. ^w^
Hi,My name is Melissa and i just joined goodreads about a week ago. I found out about from a live journal book community i belong too.
I'm in my final semester of uni and i'm a law and society major. I completely adore fairy tales and fantasy centered books. I'm about to start reading "The Stepsister Scheme" by Jim. C. Hines which offers a new twist on Snow White, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty. ^w^
*blinks, then groans and presses a hand to stomach* omgosh, guys, why'd you have to tell me all that?!
Yep, that's exactly it. My mom's big on organic foods too. We don't eat everything organic, but all our fruits and veggies and meats and stuff like that. LOL I feel like I'm super full of odd and scholastic-like information today, Naomi. I'm not sure what's going on. Maybe it's a sign from God that I really should be doing more of my homework. LOL :D
yeah, haven't you seen those huge grapes or strawberries or anything like that? they have hormones put in them to make them bigger. It really isn't as healthy. same w/ meat. it's kinda like people will take steroids to make their muscles bigger, but they're feeding them to the animals to make more meat for us to eat. xD so fun? right? jk. k, thanks Sarah. ...did I get that right? that's how it was explained to me.
Organic just means that there are no hormones or preservatives used to produce the food. So like organic fruits and vegetables are grown without excess chemicals and hormones. Organic meats come from animals that haven't been fed hormones and preservatives. Organic snacks and other packaged or processed foods tend not to use excess chemicals and no preservatives. They usually don't use things like aspertame or splenda, etc., either.
that DOES sound like it sucks. i hate it when someone takes something out of context and then ASKS you about it. and i really hate when u think u know the character, and you'd think the author would too, but then the character does something TOTALLY OOC. i HATE is....isn't organic... stuff made from the earth only? nothing like pepsi...?
lolz. I do. it creates a problem when teachers say 'put youselves in so-and-so's shoes da-da da-da da-da' because I'm used to knowing everything about the person, therefore being able to be in their mind, but teachers will pick a paragraph out of a textbook and say 'read this and tell me what you would do if you were them' but I know nothing about the person, so I can't do it. it kinda sucks. oh well.Question Marissa, what is organic food? I've never gotten that.
you practically live up to that phrase then, naomi. :Dhi marissa! i'm homeschooled too!!!! ditto about the two books a week thing, although for me it's usually more.... xD welcome to Once Upon a Time!!!
hi Marissa! welcome to the group!Aira: lolz. yeah. It helps me get into the book better and understand what's going on. like the phrase 'put yourselves in their shoes'
hey my name is marissa, i am homeschooled. and i read about a two books a week. i only eat organic food, and i love to read all different kinds of books.
so. for instance, if you've read The Goose Girl, then you'll know it's from Ani/Isi's POV. so I feel like I am her, for the whole book. that's one reason I absolutely hate cliffhangers. so, if the character who's POV it is, is sad in the book, I'm sad too, even when I'm not reading the book. ...this can be bad. xD Somehow I manage to do this no matter what POV it's from (1st, 3rd, or other 3rd) don't ask me how. xD
what you do u mean 'person who's POV' it is? (i know what POV means, just not what u mean in the context....)
yeah. but if I'm reading a sad story, i have to finish it because I am the person who's POV it is, so I'm kinda depressed until I finish it.ur welcome! xD
it was kinda sad. normally people try not to make it too sad or people will put it down. i thought there could've been a tad more romance though....i'll check it out. thanks naomi!
yeah. i really enjoyed it. I loved the was you didn't really expect anything that was happening. everything was a supprise. though it was kinda sad which I didn't like.
ok! sounds good!yeah, i know. it totally wasn't what i expected it to be like, but in a good way. the way it was off the beaten trail was awesome.
Hmmm... guys? I think I'll leave this group about the Once Upon a Time series, and make another group about all fairytale retellings. sound good? I'll post a link when I actually make it. xD
have any of you read A Curse As Dark As Gold? it is an AMAZING retelling of rumplestil - ah, however you spell his name.....
Hi Hope! Welcome to the group!Yeah, the Luxe series is pretty good. It's about people in the early 1900s in NY. It starts getting kinda sad towards the end of the 2nd book and 3rd book, so I'm looking forward to the 4th to see if it gets better (happier). It's not the best series ever, but you might like it. xD
