Harper (harperbell) | 56 comments I'm looking forward to the steampunk book, Damon. I'm a fan of the genre!

And speaking of sci-fi, do you see any full-length sci-fi books in your future? I lament the sad lack of good, epic sci-fi in the M/M romance genre fairly often. :'(

Angel Martinez (AngelMartinez) | 40 comments *pounding the table* Yes, Yes, Yes! *ahem* World building, world crafting, wresting worlds out of the firmament - it's good for the brain. Yes. That's it.

message 103: by Damon (new)

Damon Suede (DamonSuede) | 115 comments I do think there will be, but nothign has reaered it's head yet. I love the genre though, so I can almost guarantee it. :)

Damon Suede (DamonSuede) | 115 comments Now... AGAIN time has slithered past me. How did we get to 5:30 so fast?

I don't know if anyone's interested but I would like to give away a e-copy of the book to one of you lovely people who came and spent part of your Saturday with me here in the beige halld of goodreads.

message 106: by Angel (new)

Angel Martinez (AngelMartinez) | 40 comments I think a reader would have to be a bridge troll not to want a free book...

message 107: by Harper (new)

Harper (harperbell) | 56 comments Um, I most assuredly am! LOL. What do we have to do? :P

message 108: by Damon (new)

Damon Suede (DamonSuede) | 115 comments Is it just Angel and Harper here with me right now?

message 109: by Damon (last edited Jun 04, 2011 02:43PM) (new)

Damon Suede (DamonSuede) | 115 comments I was going to post a wacky but topical question and have y'all answer it, awarding the prize to whoever posted first....

But if it's just us three in here, then fuckit! Enough with the silly hoopjumping. :)

I'm giving you each a copy for being such great company during my first chat! And if you have any interest in swag, let me know...

Feliz (Felfaber) | 10 comments Hi Damon,

holy COW your boys are hot...
It's nice to meet you here. I have only just now worked my way down through all those posts - and especially the excerpts. Ah, those are great!
As a foreigner, I don't have such a personal connection to the 9/11 events, yet I've seen the pictures of course... your book sounds like it was one of those stories I love, one that doesn't mince matters and tells things like they are. I'm so looking forward to reading it!!

message 115: by Damon (new)

Damon Suede (DamonSuede) | 115 comments Oh Sylvia!! I didn';t know you were still with me! Tell you what, how about I send you an honorary swag pack for coming in under the wire?

message 116: by Sylvia (new)

Sylvia | 25 comments Just reading about your conniption at Hot July Days. You make it look so funny :)

♥Laddie♥ (Lee Lee) Oh, wow. This was a great thread to read through.

I can't wait for this book. Just the fact that it's set in NYC would make me read it.The fabulous writing means I'll be buying it the day it's released.

I'm a sneaky one. Sounds great, uhm...what is a swag pack?

message 128: by Karen (new)

Karen (TNreader) I've been here... popping in a out. Fun to see you shine, Damon. :*

!! Thank you, Midia. That's such a wonderful thing to say. Very much appreciated. I am very proud of this one. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

message 130: by Karen (new)

Karen (TNreader) I know you only have a few more minutes in this chat, but I'll just say that I'm glad you are writing some steampunk. I was real excited when I heard about the genre but have been disappointed with what little I've read of it so far.

message 131: by Damon (new)

Damon Suede (DamonSuede) | 115 comments I'm a sneaky one. Sounds great, uhm...what is a swag pack?"

An odd idiosyncratic assortment of promotional items, bookmarks and magnets, and other strange gewgaws... And if you aren't a fan of swag and would rather pass, I won't be offended at all. I find that people either love or loathe swag. :)

I know what you mean. I feel like the trick with steampunk is NAILING the worldbuilding so that it can become a seamless background and not dominate the foreground.

Too much steampunk seems to get caught up in the frippery and forget about the story that makes it worth reading. Hopefully I won't make the asame mistake... (famous last words)

Thanks Laddie. I truly hope you dig it. I think you will. It's VERY New York.

We've had a pretty groovy afternoon in here. I was a little nervous it would be me with a starved jackrabbit and maybe a lone newspaper blowing on the tracks... but the crew kept me jumping.

message 142: by Karen (new)

Karen (TNreader) poor Damon. He thought he'd been abandoned by all by 3!

Shanna (Snowie) | 11 comments Well you did post some great excerpts and some smexy pictures. ;)

message 145: by Damon (new)

Damon Suede (DamonSuede) | 115 comments I wish I'd thoguht to setup more pics. I have so many. I'm a really intense researcher and swatcher when I'm drafting, so I have piles of images for all the characters and the buildings and the neighborhoods.

Next time I should plan a little virtual walking tour of the people and places in the book!

message 146: by Sylvia (new)

Sylvia | 25 comments I like walking tours

message 147: by Karen (new)

Karen (TNreader) Oh that would be cool! Especially if you've never been to New York, like me.

message 148: by Shanna (new)

Shanna (Snowie) | 11 comments Ah! I see how it works, so all that porn is really research? My parents tried that on me when I was a kid. Their porn was for my dad's thesis, and he hadn't been in school for decades. lol

Damon Suede (DamonSuede) | 115 comments kb wrote: "poor Damon. He thought he'd been abandoned by all by 3!"

I did! But I figured Saturday afternoon is a hard sell and people were out enjoying the weather. PLus I wasn't really sure what the rhythm of it would be (since this was my first).

EXACTLY!

ANy M/M author can tell you: we watch the porn to check details. I bet I could make a case to deduct the porn I need to watch. LOL
