Ekhart mentions in the "New Earth" that our thoughts and emotions are not actually coming from "who we are". Rather, the thought and emotions that we experience are really coming from our pain/body or ego which is created by reflexs from our past experiences.

This is in alignment by many advaita masters who also believe that we actually have no control of our physical happenings. "Events happen, deeds are done, but you are not the doer," said the Buddha.

Is Eckhart saying the same thing? Any thoughts?
