Jacqueline Kirk (JacquelineKirk) For years I tried to get my daughter to read because I have such a love for it but she resisted. That is until she tried Twilight and loved it (I didn't but each to their own). To kind of keep the momentum going I got her the Evernight books which she loved even more. Wicked Lovely, Fallen, Eyes Like Stars have also been big hits.
So, after all that rambling can anybody recommend similar titles? She doesn't like anything with werewolves, pretty adamant about that. I need books that are quite similar as she is still a bit of a reluctant reader when it comes to trying something new.

Wendy Darling (wendydarling) Hi Jacqueline, you might give these a try--here are some of my favorites. I'm linking the first book in each series below.

For vampires:
Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1) Strange Angels (Strange Angels, #1) Glass Houses (The Morganville Vampires, #1)

For faeries:
Need (Need, #1)

For angels:
Unearthly (Unearthly, #1) Angel (Angel Trilogy, #1) Mercy (Mercy, #1)

For witches/demons/general paranormal etc:
The Summoning (Darkest Powers, #1) Hex Hall (Hex Hall, #1) Once a Witch (Witch, #1)

Vampire Academy is particularly good, it has a very strong heroine, lots of humor, good action sequences, and very cute guys. ;) But age-appropriate. The Hex Hall series is HILARIOUS.

Also the Hush, Hush (Hush, Hush, #1) series might be something for her.

There is also the mortal instruments wich is similar to what she seem to like. City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) is the first book

Other books she might like is the study series, abit diffrent and its not set in our world Poison Study (Study, #1)

Then there is also The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1) wich took me by surprise. Didnt belive all the hype around it before I read it. Again abit diffrent that what she already have read, but really good books, and they are making it into a movie now.

Jacqueline Kirk (JacquelineKirk) Thanks guys! I have a couple of those already and others have caught my eye so I think I'll go ahead and get more books! : )

Hillary (Eledri) | 616 comments I have a pretty long list to add however I have attempted make the post twice and my browser has done something wonky and I lost it both times. So when I am less irate I will reattempt posting!

Ottilie (ottilie_weber) | 134 comments Not sure if this is excatly what you are looking for but I really enjoyed this series in high school Tithe (The Modern Faerie Tales, #1)

Jayme(the ghost reader) (JaymeILtheghostreader) I read Tithe and I liked it.

Ottilie (ottilie_weber) | 134 comments It's fun!

Jayme(the ghost reader) (JaymeILtheghostreader) The author came to our school.

Ottilie (ottilie_weber) | 134 comments Seriously jealous now! That must have been pretty epic!

Jacqueline Kirk (JacquelineKirk) Holly Black came to your school?! Ditto on the jealousy! : )

Jayme(the ghost reader) (JaymeILtheghostreader) It was cool. She came last year or the year before for Tithe and another book, not White Cat though.

Melissa | 3 comments I just finished the series by Julie Kagwa that was great. The Iron King is the first book. Great love triangle and no werewolves. The hourglass door trilogy by Lisa Mangum also has a great love story.Matched by Alley Condie. The Need Series by Carrie Jones but there are shape-shifters. Wondrous Strange by Lesly Linvingstone.
Lament: The Faerie Queen's Deception (Gathering of Faerie)
by Maggie Stiefvater. That should keep her busy for a while. My 13 year old doesn't like to read but she finished the Hunger Games books after I read her the first couple chapters of the first book. They are amazing! The host by Stephanie Myer is also really good and 2 more of that series is coming soon!

Linda Ash | 35 comments She might like Glimmerglass (Faeriewalker, #1) and the next in the series, Shadowspell (Faeriewalker, #2).

Richard (nemzep95) | 313 comments Harry Potter is what really got me into reading more, so you could always try that. Granted it's not the same as the other books she's read, but it could definitely be something to introduce to her once she's got more into reading.

City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices, #1) The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #1) The Lost Hero (The Heroes of Olympus, #1) The Red Pyramid (Kane Chronicles, #1) are also good series, although The Lost Hero is a sequel series to Percy Jackson so make sure she's into The Lightning Thief first xD.

Hillary (Eledri) | 616 comments I really get the feeling I am not suppose to post here simply because I had a completed post, went to click post...and again it was deleted and I couldn't save it... cruel cruel browser.

So I am just going to make a list without many comments :P Some on my list will be repeats, and some will be things that may pique her interest. Some are love it or hate it books. But I will say this, the order that I recommend the Mortal Instruments/Infernal Devices series to be read is as follows: City of Bones, City of Ashes, City of Glass, Clockwork Angel, City of Fallen Angels. You don't HAVE to but, you have a better understanding of things in City of Fallen Angels if you read Clockwork Angel first.

Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1) Infinite Days (Vampire Queen, #1) Marked (House of Night, #1) Born at Midnight (Shadow Falls, #1) The Demon Trapper's Daughter (The Demon Trappers #1) City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices, #1) The Hunger Games Trilogy Boxset White Cat (Curse Workers, #1) The Iron King (Iron Fey, #1) Wondrous Strange (Wondrous Strange, #1) Lament The Faerie Queen's Deception (Books of Faerie, #1) Unearthly (Unearthly, #1) The Demon King (Seven Realms, #1) Delirium (Delirium, #1) Eon Dragoneye Reborn (Eon, #1) Paranormalcy (Paranormalcy, #1) Graceling (The Seven Kingdoms Triology, #1) Unwind (Unwind, #1) Bloody Jack Being an Account of the Curious Adventures of Mary "Jacky" Faber, Ship's Boy (Bloody Jack, #1) The Eternal Ones (Eternal Ones, #1) Vixen (Flappers, #1) Angelfire (Angelfire, #1) Nevermore (Nevermore, #1) My Soul to Take (Soul Screamers, #1)

Jayme(the ghost reader) (JaymeILtheghostreader) Lauren Oliver came to our school this year for Delirium and Before I Fall.

Ottilie (ottilie_weber) | 134 comments What school do you go to that all these authors go tto if you don't mind me asking?!

Karis (YA Litwit) Jacobstein (YALitwit) | 19 comments I just finished Hereafter by Tara Hudson and it was really good. If she liked Twilight, she'll enjoy it. It comes out next month. She would also probably like The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare. You could also check out Nightshade by Andrea Cremer. It was really, REALLY good. I reviewed it on my blog if you want to check it out (http://yalitwit.blogspot.com).

Jayme(the ghost reader) (JaymeILtheghostreader) Ottilie wrote: "What school do you go to that all these authors go tto if you don't mind me asking?!"

I work in a public high school and the school library brings in authors for book signings for the students during the day, The staff can purchase the books for $10(hardcover) and get it signed by the author.

Ottilie (ottilie_weber) | 134 comments wow that's pretty awsome

Jayme(the ghost reader) (JaymeILtheghostreader) There are like 5 or 6 author days a year. We have had Maggie Stiefiver too. (Author of .
Shiver and Linger). We had Julie Labastier, (Scoot Westerfield's wife) author of Liar and How To Kill Your Fairy. We had Neal Shesterman, Author of Unwind. We had the authors of Beautiful Creatures. SO I got some autographed books of Liar and Beautiful Creatures. Maybe another book but don't remember what that was.

Ottilie (ottilie_weber) | 134 comments Oh wow that's seriously pretty awsome my school did nothing like that.

Jayme(the ghost reader) (JaymeILtheghostreader) The school wants to provide positive reading experiences for the students like a monthly book club.

Ottilie (ottilie_weber) | 134 comments That's smart.

Candy | 6 comments I second a lot of these but especially The Hunger Games, Vampire Academy, and The Mortal Instruments series also, anything by Maggie Stiefvater. You might even try books by Sarah Dessen. They are a different genre but really good none-the-less.

Catherine (cattymccat) I recommend:

Generation Dead (Generation Dead, #1)

This is the first book in the series.

Catherine (cattymccat) Also, one that isn't paranormal but very good is:

The Lipstick Laws

Wendy Darling (wendydarling) Jacqueline, I hope you'll come back and let us know if your daughter enjoyed any of these! :)

Cheryl Landmark (clandmark) | 33 comments How about?

Prophecy of the Sisters by Michelle Zink
Haunted by Barbara Haworth-Attard
The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting

Jeanette Johnson | 6 comments If you are looking for authors to come to your school and don't have a budget for it, the Vroman's bookstore offers author visits for free if you are will to per-sell their books. The author will sign them at the time of your visit. I get two authors a year for our school and coordinate them with open house and back to school night.

I think you all have hit almost all the paranormal books I can think of. I don't think I saw the Wicked Lovely series Wicked Lovely posted yet so I will add that. enjoy...

Erin (EnchantedChrysalis) | 1 comments If your daughter likes books full of mythical creatures, including faeries, centaurs, demons, satyrs, dryads and a strong but young female heroine, I'd suggest:

Fablehaven: The Complete Series Boxed Set

If she tends to like bardic poetry/magery and again, a young but strong female heroine, I'd suggest:

The Naming The Riddle The Crow The Singing

I'm twenty-four and those two series are a few of my latest favourites. There aren't any vampires, but there are plenty of dark moments that I think she'd really like, plus the language is engaging and flowing, making it easier for those who have only discovered the wide world of literature.

Gabrielle | 8 comments I reccomend:
The Gemma Doyle Trilogy by Libba Bray
Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan
The Kane Chronicles by Rick Riordan
The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare
The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare

Gabrielle | 8 comments And also The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
The Unfortunate Events books by Lemony Snicket
