369169 hee hee.. gotta love it. I just realised that the last chunk of the book is just notes. Not part of the actual novel at all.

Glad to see you liked "Little Children" Eric. I thought it was an ok read but it was sure a dysfunctional bunch of characters! LOL I have "The Titan's Curse" coming from the library on audio soon. Cute series.

1327949 Lindsay thanks for the Angel's game answer!

I'm in the middle of The Hunger Game's right now and I'm loving it! I'm glad I already have a hold for the second one.

2607921 I just finished Lord of the Flies by William Golding. It was just "meh" for me. Maybe I missed out on all the symbolism that it was suppose to represent? IDK. Oh well...

I received a BOAT LOAD from my library today! I had holds placed on about 8 books and what-do-you-know, of course they ALL come in at once?! I hate it when that happens because now I feel rushed to get through them all instead of just enjoying them!

Going to glance over them all now and then decide which one to cleanse my mental palate with next....

1956582 I just finished The Space Between Us A Novel by Thrity Umrigar. It was an amazing 5 star book.

I am starting a first-reads fantasy by Jennifer Armintrout, Queene of Light. I'm looking forward to something light and fun.

2689336 Right now I'm reading Sarah Dessen's "Lock and Key", and Tad William's "City of Golden Shadow" (very different books LOL). I read "City of Golden Shadow" at school, and "Lock and Key" before I go to sleep :)

48404 I finished Prayers for Sale. It was a sweet story, but the writing wasn't great for me, so it only got three stars.

Now I'm trying to start The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. No, I haven't seen the movie. :-)

I read this one twice. Once in high school and once last year just for the heck of it. I was hoping I would like it more than I did in hs, but its just alright still. I totally understood the symbolism this time around, but I don't get it why my brother and sister like it so much. Everyone's different

Nophoto-f-25x33 I'm still reading Isabel Allende's "Paula." When I first started, I was a bit put off with her stream of consciousness writing, but, mea culpa, I shortly realized it is a memoir. At any rate, I soon became caught up in her prose--so beautiful. What a talent. I now read it, not only for the richness of her background, but for her skill with words.

message 16518: by Catamorandi (new)

754081 Well, I managed to trudge through To Kill a Mockingbird. Now I am reading P.S. Longer Letter Later by Paula Danziger and Ann M Martin.

2268561 I'm going to start Plain Truth tomorrow after golf. Or maybe while I'm on the golf course. I guess it depends if we're playing with slow golfers...hmmmmm

It was on of four collections I won last March for the Love Your Indie contest on Joe Hill's website. message 16531: by Fiona (new)

1356469 Oooh on GR? Wow! None of the books on the UK giveaways really excite me so much. I had to buy this one - Ghosh is a great author I hope you enjoy it. I am only 8 pages in but I am already slipping straight in.

message 16532: by Beth (new)

2051994 Finished reading The Double Bind and gave it 3 stars. Presently, I am very drawn in to Her Fearful Symmetry A Novel.

message 16533: by Lindz (new)

2485778 Reading The Given Day, by Lehane. Very good story, time period of Boston 1919 is hard to resist. The characters are a little stock like, but the story, grime smoke, dirty alley ways make up for that. Lehane makes me want to be a socialist. Though I often have the same reaction with Orwell.

This is one of those books you can see as a great movie, but doesn't read like one, which I am loooovvvvviiiiiingggggggg.

message 16534: by Emily (new)

976884 Yeah I love the GR giveaway thing, there are a lot of good books on it, stuff I normally wouldn't pick up. Gotta love free books!

Theresa, I had the same feeling. I read the bok years ago, not remembering for what reason. When I started it I was sceptical because i thought it would be an over dramatic, emotional, weak book. But like you I was absorbed more and more about the book and I really liked it a lot. Recently I read The house of the spirits. Was also with this one very sceptical but I loved it! I guess i should read more by Allende!
