Preeta has a way with words that is perfectly descriptive and totallly unexpected...I couldn't read this book like most books I read- I usually read very fast, skimming over the top of the water. I read every word, because each word counted. The characters were funny and endearing, the story unexpected. She painted a picture of life in Malaysia at a critical time in its history from the point of view of a little girl who can see ghosts...what imagination!
