1732926 Hi everyone! My name is Liz. I grew up in Louisville, but currently reside in North Dakota. I majored in English (which is sooooooo useful at the moment, ha ha) and hope to move to Boston one day. But I am VERY glad that there is a Kentucky themed group!

Nophoto-f-25x33 Hi I'm Anne. I moved to Louisville, KY about 3 1/2 years ago from Michigan. I have a bachelor's degree in Journalism/Communications but work for an investment company (translation: I don't use my degree...much. Haha)

I read a lot of everything...don't really stick to a single genre. I just found this site and it seemed like a good place to find "good reads" from other people that enjoy reading.

I'll ask my mom. I don't remember anyone by the name of Duty. I noticed in your post that you work in accounting. Do you like it? I work as a fiscal agent for a grant. It is not what I went to school for though. I love to read and would like to teach English...I have a teaching degree but in history. Go figure.

1909251 We've got a lot of them up there. There were nine brothers and sisters in my dads family, with lots of cousins spread all over and by now all of those nine already have grandkids. There's also the Duty family up there on my mothers side but almost all of them have moved away. The Hamptons were the ones that stayed up there the most the majority still live in Millstone.

There were some Hamptons who lived near my grandmother in McRoberts (also Letcher co)

Premium. I am trying to figure out where that is. I am from Jenkins (Letcher County) and I am (unfortunately) close to 41! Yikes!

Nophoto-f-25x33 Hi! I'm Kathie and I live in Georgetown. I grew up in eastern Ky but came here after high school to go to UK and stayed after I graduated...where the jobs are! I was taking grad classes from Morehead online but it is so time consuming with working full-time. I really wish I had gone to grad school straight from undergrad.
Anyway,I love to read and go through phases of the types of books I read.

1909251 Hi! I'm Angela and I live in Lexington, I went to college for a year at NKU and for another year and some odd months here in Lexington before realizing I had no idea what I wanted to do... then I got a job working as an office manager at a small company and have worked my way up to being an accounting clerk at a bigger company.
I'd like to go back and get a degree but I really don't have time!

Anyway, I'm a big Sci-Fi Fantasy geek, who on occasion reads historical fiction, graphic novels and slightly trashy paranormal romance as a break from better books.

Can't think of anything else at the moment!

1624042 Hi, I'm Wanda and I am in Premium, KY...not far from the KY/VA line. I am soon to be 40 with 2 sons ages 25 and 19 and 2 grandsons ages 5 and 4. I have been married soon to be 20 years and I am such a big reader...my mom says she doesn't know what any of her 4 kids look like without a book in front of their face. LOL...

There are no local bookstores here so I have to make do with online ordering or library sales...

message 10: by Aaron (new)

197936 I'm Aaron and I'm in Louisville. I'm 33, married, with a kid on the way. Favorite books are by Steinbeck, Vowell, and Kingsolver. Favorite local bookstore is Carmichael's and I dearly miss the old Hawley-Cooke bookstores.

1412395 Hi I'm older than you guys, I live in Shep. Ky, I got my nursing degree from voc school and I am now going to U of L for history/anthropology degree. I just wrote my first book Forever Promised about a nurse that travels back in time and meets one of her patients. check it out at www.ForeverPromised.com
I don't have any fav mom and pop stores I am so busy I go into B.A.M. most of the time. The sad part regarding jobs is people have been migrating since the Civil War.

message 8: by Anne (new)

1459218 That's a definite possibility. The thing is I have to find a job before I move so I won't have to drive back to where I was everyday.

message 7: by Devin (new)

1450057 Is there any reason why you guys can't move to where there are more jobs? A lot of people are having to do that. Ohio is losing a lot of population because of that.

message 6: by Anne (new)

1459218 I'm not sure if it would be worth it or not. The one that I have isn't proving to be worth it yet. But I think it just may be because of how remote the area is I live in. There just aren't any good jobs near me.

message 5: by Devin (new)

1450057 Well, what could having two masters hurt right? Do you think it would be worth it?

message 4: by Anne (new)

1459218 I've been married for about a year and a half. I'm 25, but I've actually been considering starting a second master's degree in communication/PR. I don't know if I'm insane enough to go through it again though, :).

Vanderbilt is a really good school; my uncle works there (in the hospital) and really likes it. I like the area around there too. Hendersonville, TN (which is just outside of Nashville) is a really great place to live.

message 3: by Devin (new)

1450057 As of right now I am planning on going to Vanderbilt University for Graduate school right after I graduate from Transy. So unfortunately, I will not be staying in Kentucky unless my plans for grad school change. How long have you been married?

message 2: by Anne (new)

1459218 Hello Devin! I'm Anne and I live in Greensburg, KY (which is about an hour and half southwest of Lexington). I went to Campbellsville University and got my bachelor's and master's degree there. I studied business and public relations. I'm originally from Virginia but my dad was in the Navy and we moved all the time. I'm married and I have a three year old son, Jonah. I currently work in marketing/sales and I love it! Are you wanting to stay in Kentucky after you graduate?

message 1: by Devin (new)

1450057 Typical thread I know, but it gets us all talking.

I'm Devin. I go to school in Lexington for psychology at Transylvania University. Hopefully I can move to Lexington so I can stay down there all year round and not worry about coming back to Cincinnati all the time.
