I have a book to recommend: my 3rd grader just finished reading Mitt, the Michigan Mouse and loved it. Plus, the illustrations are wonderful. If you live in MI or a surrounding state, it makes it all the better because it's on familiar territory. But, if you don't it tells a great story and illustrates the natural world of the Great Lakes region.
