I'm not sure that I have a favorite Paranormal Romance YA series. But for adult I would say Black Dagger Brotherhood is my favorite. (I think most of my adult ones fall under the Urban Fantasy heading.)
Paranormal is not my favorite genre, but if we are including adult books I have to second the BDB series nomination.
Paranormal isn't my favorite genre in the YA section. It is one of my favorites in the Adult section though.
Wendy F wrote: "Paranormal isn't my favorite genre in the YA section. It is one of my favorites in the Adult section though."Agreed. I prefer adult paranormal (BDB, Fever, Kate Daniels). I actually kind of hate most of the popular YA paranormal series. I think they are too wordy and dumb things down too much. Just my opinion though!
I haven't started the Kate Daniels books. I should, I loved BDB and Fever, lol.I tried to think of a favorite Paranormal YA series and I don't think I've given the ones I've read any higher then 3 stars. I haven't tried Vampire Academy yet, though.
Okay, well I guess I could say the Secret Circle by LJ Smith. I haven't read them again since I've been an adult, but I adored them back then so they'll always hold a special spot in my heart.
I am a big urban fantasy fan, but not so much with paranormal romance. However, I have to say that I think that more people should read
. I really liked that one!
The Black dagger Brotherhood series and Georgina Kincaid (if we can count it as romance as well as urban fantasy..)
Vampire Academy is the best. Rose is an amazing main character who doesn't dumb things down for the audience. She actually blurts out everything that pops into her head. The two love interests are flawed, dangerous and sexy.
I agree. Rose is very badass. She's not your typical whiny teen. She does have her needy moments (as we all do), but she chooses not to let her feelings of love overtake what's right. How many other girls would set off to kill the man they love if they felt he might be turning evil?I love that she's a warrior and can fight with the big boys.
Although to me, Vampire Academy reads more like an Urban Fantasy than a PNR anyway.
Since some of you have Adult PNR favs rather than YA lets include both and any kind of fantasy/paranormal romance. Haven't read Vampire Academy yet or Black Dagger Brotherhood but going to now since these are so popular.
I'm not sure exactly what you'll like since I didn't like Immortals at all, but I'll add some more anyway.BDB is definitely PNR. It's very heavy on the sex. I love the books as a guilty pleasure read, but they're not my favorite.
Some of the better more recent PNR's for YA are Hex Hall and Unearthly. Hex Hall is very witty, and Unearthly has very well written characters (do not compare this book to Fallen just because it has angels...Fallen was a complete suck book compared to this one). Tucker has to be one of the most real characters I've read in a YA this year. Oh, editing here to add White Cat (curseworkers series). I love the curse working thing, and it has a male lead. I also like the mafia family vibe, and they aren't vamps, wolves, angels, etc. They're a family with powers. And it has more than one hot guy in the family. I have a crush on one of the evil guys.
My favorite adult UF's are the Fever series, Night Huntress and Georgina Kincaid. All of those have a strong female lead. Both Fever and GK have great plot arcs with a hint of mystery to them as well. NH is more action based. They're always killing someone in NH. I also do like Rachel Vincent's Shifter series because the concept of black werecats (panther like) is a fun take on shifters. Something about her journey for self absorbed to strong reminds me of Mac from Fever. It's not the same ole same ole.
I know a lot of girls around here like Kate Daniels. I borderline hated the first KD, but I promise to read the rest of the series because I hear books 3 and 4 are fabulous. Mercy Thompson is another series that most KD fans seem to like, but I've only read the first two and the first half of the third book so far so I'm not sure if it will be a like or love series yet.
Stacia I was not fond of the first Kate Daniels book - books 3 & 4 were much improved and I enjoyed them a lot. Miranda be warned that the BDB books, as Stacia said, are heavy on the sex but I am pretty prudish and survived them all!
Before I fell in love with YA and PNR I was into sexy romance books so maybe I'll enjoy BDB. Guess I'll find out.
I plan to read Vampire Academy soon. I have to finish my BDB rereads, and I need something fast and light after The Piper's Son, but after that I think I'm going to do the Vampire Academy series.
I have to admit I love the Twilight series. I haven't read Vampire Academy yet, although I plan to read the first in the series soon. I've only read Shiver so far, but I loved it, so I will add the Wolves of Mercy Falls series to the mix as well as the Need series(those would count in this discussion right?).
I forgot about the Wolves of Mercy falls. I gave those 4 stars, so I'll count those as ones I liked too.
As far as adult, my faves are the Psy/Changling books and the Immortals After Dark ones. Notice no BDB or Kate Daniels or Fever?? That's because I am over them, haha. Especially the BDB.
I read Vampire Academy and didn't like it, but I was just so turned off by human feeders sitting there waiting to be fed on and addicted to it. It was just disgusting to me and one book was enough. Just me probably. I am never sure what is Urban Fantasy but think I am not real into it. LOL
Vampire Academy is by far the best paranormal YA series. I loved the characters, even the ones I hated, I loved the plot, and I loved the writing style. No other YA paranormal series comes close.
Black Dagger Brotherhood would definitely have to be my fave. So excited about the new book coming out this month!
A Great and Terrible Beauty, Rebel Angels and The Sweet Far Thing...by Libba Bray! SOOOO GOOD!!! I love Kartik and Gemma.

I'm reading A Great and Terrible Beauty now. I had a hard time getting into it yesterday, but I think it's because I was tired. I just read some more and it was more enjoyable.

I dont/haven't read a lot of paranormal romance, so my favorite is still Twilight. I read the first one in 05 way before the craze began and I thought it was amazing since I'd never read anything like that before. I think it set the bar really high for me or something because I haven't really liked or read much since. THeres a few series I'm interested in (House of Night and Vampire Academy) but I haven't started either series yet!
I tried the House of Night series and I really didn't get interested. I also read the first few in The Vampire Diaries series and while I LOVE the show, I really didn't enjoy the books that much.

I think the only vamp series that most people enjoyed (besides the series that shall not be named) is Vampire Academy, but I may be wrong.
My favorite is Kim Harrison's Hollows series, starting with Dead Witch Walking
. It's sometimes listed as paranormal romance, sometimes as sci fi/fantasy.
I love those too Jan!I would say they are urban fantasy. There really isn't very much romance in them.
I don't read a lot of actual romance, but for YA I guess The Wolves of Mercy Falls. Adult series would be Night Huntress. Gotta love Bones in those books!

Adult:Midnight Breed by Lara Adrian
Fever series by Karen Marie Moning
YA:
Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare
Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins

Covenant by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Lux by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Warriors of Ankh by Samantha Young
Significance by Shelly Crane
The Devoured by Shelly Crane
Blood Like Poison by M. Leighton
My Fave YA: Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare...Lux series by Jennifer armentrout...
