The Knife of Never Letting Go is FANTASTIC. Completely unique, and a fast read, because it is so exciting and interesting. Definitely check it out!

Well finished the last one which was excellent, and I think I'm on to reading "Graceling". I read "Fire" and liked it. "Graceling" seems different in tone thus far.

I don't know why but I'm really excited about that book, maybe it's the cover? I'll be reading it after christmas, hope it gets better for you.

I just started Hush, Hush.. I've heard really good things and I really want to like it.. but so far I'm just not that into it. I've only read about 60 pages though, so hopefully it gets better!

So far very good writing.

It's about a boy with anger issues. But not without reason. His father recently died in an accident at work and then 3 months later his sister is murdered but the police have little interest in pursuing the culprit because the family is poor. Now he finds himself in a Catholic orphanage taking care of a dying boy. (Cheerful, huh)

Hi Heidi, I just put that one on my TBR list. I've got such a stack though, not sure when I'll get to it.

In any case, I'm just finishing up MAZE RUNNER and I'm starting DARKHENGE. The latter is an older book by an author I'm just discovering: Catherine Fisher.

I just started Fire. I loved Graceling and I am immediately being pulled into this one. So far, so good.

oh Michelle I hope you loved SR, I can't wait to read it! Going Bovine is on my Christmas list, so many good things out there, I think this is a must read for 2009!

@Heidi--I can't understand why those books are so addictive either. Frankly, I'm a Twilight fan, but for the life of me, I don't know why. LOL. I mean, she does everything wrong, and somehow, I couldn't stop reading them.

And maybe at some point, I'll give Cassandra Clare a second chance. :)

I felt Stephanie Meyer was a fanfiction writer, so that is why I had some issues with the Twilight series. I still can't believe/reason how it did so well. I think it is like when people overhype a movie and then you watch it and go "that's it?" Anyway, that is my concern about the Mortal Instrument series. I will def just get it from the library so I can return it and not be out in anything :)

Ooh, cool! I didn't know that about the movie deal! I am excited about that for sure! Hopefully it is really good then! And hopefully it actually gets made. You never know with the books to movies. Sometimes they never go anywhere. But I would totally love to see them as movies!

yeah, Simon's book (City of Fallen Angels) is coming out in March 2011, but she's also writing a series of prequels that sound pretty great too. The first one of those is coming out in September 2010. Also TMI has officially been optioned for a movie deal which is pretty exciting too! :D

Okay, so!!!

I finished Skybreaker, which as great, IMO! And actually just started Starclimber and am completely engrossed already!!
I enjoyed The Thief Lord well enough (though not sure it'd be a fav.) and am also reading The Titan's Curse, which I'm also pretty engrossed in. :)

I will tell you, I was one at first that hated it - Mortal Instruments, always loved Twilight. But I kept reading the series and loved it! And even though it is over, Cassandra Clare actually has plans to keep it going from another characters perspective, so I was really glad about that!

Ok - I have seen the Mortal Instruments series and wondered about it. It seems to get mixed reviews (love/hate). The last series I read that got reviews like that was Twilight and I was in the later category, so I was apprehensive-- but I think I will give it a try.

I read Tricks a couple months ago and I thought it was good, but it lacked a bit of the really great lines like she had in Crank and Glass. I love her style though and her books usually stay with me for a while afterward!

I just finished reading The Mortal Instruments series for the third time. I love love love love them! I'm trying to put off new books for a week or so since it's finals week.. we'll see how long my resolve lasts ;x

I am reading Tricks by Ellen Hopkins.

I read Shiver first. I would start with that. She only has the 3 books out right now. The followup to Shiver will be out in July '10 and is called Linger. I can't wait! I am not sure if any further books will follow Lament or Ballad, but I do hope so.

But either Lament or Shiver really are good books to start with. Shiver is about werewolves.

Which of the Maggie Steifvater books would you recommend first? I have never read any of her books, but see her name a lot on group postings so will give her a try.

I loved the story of Wicked Lovely but I thought the characters were porely developed. I liked the story enoug to read Ink Exchange and found I liked that so much more. I thought the story was written a lot better and I found I actually cared what the characters choices led to and understood more of wny choices were made. I have yet to read Fragile Eternity, but it is on my list to read for January. Sounds like I shouldn't be disapointed! :D

I am kind of obsessed, so I thought I would mention there is a great series about the Fey by Maggie Steifvater. I know some haven't liked it as much as I do, but Lament and Ballad ended up being my favorite books I have read this year. Also Shiver by Maggie as well is an awesome book. And the rights have been bought to turn it into a movie! So here's hoping it happens!

@Sandra--I found Fragile Eternity better than Ink Exchange in terms of evenness of plot and ability to keep me interested.

I'm reading "Fragile Eternity" by Melissa Marr. I really really love this series. I'm not sure if it's just me or is it hard for authors to keep up the excitement and newness of the first novel? This is not so for Melissa Marr...she has an amazing style of writing that just keeps you in her world of fantasy. I highly reccomend reading this series. It's beautifully written. ;)

I also just finished The Book Thief. It was the best book I have read in a LONG time. I was emersed in the characters world.

I had to exercise total restraint not to dive into catching fire right away! But I feel like I have a huge delicious treat waiting for me! And I really wanted to read BC because we are at same publisher

Beautiful Creatures sounds great. You have to read Catching Fire - it is as good as the first, if not better. I have about 50 pages left and can't put it down!

I put #2 Morganville Vamps on hold to read my group book, The Naming by Alison Croggon. I am liking it so far, but I am only about 50 pages in, so I have high hopes for loving it. I have heard really good things about it :D.
