Sashana | 6358 comments A few weeks ago, Goodreads launched its first ever Choice Awards. Now that the results are out Lisarenee and I thought “What better way to utilize the results than to make them into a challenge?” So we did! The following reading challenge is modeled after the winners and runner ups of the Goodreads Choice Awards. Members will have the option to read either the winners or runner ups in whatever category they choose.

Timeline
Everyone will choose to read a different amount of books so there is no official timeline. But (ideally) this challenge should be finished before the Goodreads 2011 Choice Awards nomination are posted later this year. Therefore, participators may want to finish this challenge by December 2011.

Rachel (treychel) | 1627 comments I'll take a shot at it. Some of these I have already read, but none I would particularly care to reread. Might include them and might not. I also doubt I will be able to get to all of them before the year is up, but it is a good way to try! Post as I go.

A Voracious Reader (a.k.a. Carol) (avidreader68) | 735 comments I'll give this one a shot, too. I'm not a fan of categories 9-13, 17 or 18, so I'll just skip those. I'll post my books when I've finished them.

Shay | 959 comments Can we "count them" for our official tally if we've read them already? I've read quite a few of them.

Sashana | 6358 comments You can count them if you've already read them. Thanks for bringing that up, Shay. I'll edit it into the rules.

Sashana | 6358 comments Good luck everyone. I'm excited to see which books you guys choose to read.

A Voracious Reader (a.k.a. Carol) (avidreader68) | 735 comments Oh...then I've already read 'Dead in the Family' by Charlaine Harris and 'Sizzling Sixteen' by Janet Evanovich. :)

Sashana | 6358 comments Carol wrote: "Oh...then I've already read 'Dead in the Family' by Charlaine Harris and 'Sizzling Sixteen' by Janet Evanovich. :)"

And pretty soon you'll be reading Spirit Bound and Last Sacrifice.

I have to finish Frostbite and then read Shadow Kiss and Blood Promise first! lol However, I have books 4-6 on hold at the library.

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest by Stieg Larsson
Sizzling Sixteen by Janet Evanovich
Dead in the Family by Charlaine Harris
Silver Borne by Patricia Briggs
Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare
Lover Mine by J.R. Ward

Will add ones more as I read them.

Shay | 959 comments Also, there aren't 69 different books. So, for example, if you've read Mockingjay- is that one book really 4/69?

Diane | 41 comments Already read:

Sisters Red
Sizzling Sixteen

Will add more as I read them.

Shay | 959 comments I have read:
Mockingjay
The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest
Sizzling Sixteen
Dead in the Family
Silver Borne
Fall of Giants
Medium Raw: A Bloody Valentine to the World of Food and the People Who Cook

9 books so far. So many that are left is just stuff I don't want to read. Poetry, especially modern poetry. Yuck, I mean, YAY! So literary and not boring and pretentious.

Becky (beckysbusyreading) | 69 comments I will play, I don't plan on reading all of them. I will post as I go.

You would only count Mockingjay once.

Cinnamon, did you like Sh*t My Dad Says? I almost checked it out from my digital library section but I held off.

Alicia Sashana, Sh*t My Dad Says was amusing and had a few really sweet little anecdotes about growing up, families, siblngs, etc, but I didn't find it to be hilarious or pee-your-pants-funny or anything like that. Despite what the provocative title might suggest, most of the humour is actually fairly good-natured and G-rated. He's not obsessed with being as politically incorrect or racist/anti-semitic/homophobic/offensive as he can possibly be like most popular comedians are. I enjoyed that because I'm really sick of every current comedian's spiel being about nothing other than bashing political correctness and spreading hatred for women, lgbt and minorities. I would definitely give it a try - it's super short and doesn't take more than an hour or two to read, so even if you don't love it you won't have wasted tons of time or anything.
