Lauren Smith | 5226 comments Some books, like short story or essay collections, have 1 or more editors, and several contributing authors. Can those books be used? If so do we list the editor (or one of them)? Or can the contributing authors be used too?

Barbara | 3696 comments Just one more question about short stories collections. Only one of the authors in the book can be used right!?

Crusader (CrusaderZA) | 1940 comments Barbara wrote: "Just one more question about short stories collections. Only one of the authors in the book can be used right!?"

Yes. One author per book.

Crusader (CrusaderZA) | 1940 comments Can you use an author's real name as well when they write under a pseudonym? Richard Awlinson is actually a pseudonym for Scott Ciencin. So would I be allowed to use his real name for the 2nd novel in the series?

Lu (Sugar & Snark) | 7820 comments Lol way to technical for a Saturday morning :P

Not sure, anyone else have a opinion?

Barbara | 3696 comments I would have to say no. I don't know the author your talking about, but some writers use their pseudonym to write different kinds of books. Like Robin Hobb for example. The books she writes under Megan Lindholm are a different kind of book.
Besides it would be unfair to other people who read series by authors who don't have a pseudonym.

Crusader (CrusaderZA) | 1940 comments It gets more confusing. I actually used the wrong term, it's actually a house-name used by different authors to write in the series.

Originally the trilogy was published under the name "Richard Awlinson". The paperbacks were later re-issued under the names of the actual authors: Scott Ciencin for the first two novels and Troy Denning for the last title.

So I'm totally confused on what the correct course of action would be.

Barbara | 3696 comments ok, I went on the internet to figure this thing out and it is even more complicated than you say because part 4 was written by James Lowder, ok not under the pseudonym but still it threw me off for a moment. I would say forget the pseudonym Richard Awlinson and use the original names. So Scott Ciencin, Troy Denning and James Lowder. That would get you 3 authors for a series of 5 books.

Crusader (CrusaderZA) | 1940 comments Barbara wrote: "I would say forget the pseudonym Richard Awlinson and use the original names. So Scott Ciencin, Troy Denning and James Lowder"

Yeah, that looks like what I'm going to do. I only have the original trilogy so I don't have to worry about James Lowder.

Barbara | 3696 comments Well, the years not over. Who knows what you'll be able to buy later on. And this way you'll still get two authors out of the deal.

Barbara | 3696 comments I finished the book Brides of the west and one of the authors is Michele Ann Young and that is my Y author and completes my A-Z author challenge. That also means I have finished all A-Z challenges and all with 26 letters :)

Lauren Smith | 5226 comments It's going to be very tight, but I want to try and finish this. Does anyone have any suggestions for Q?

Chrizette | 505 comments How about a historical romance to broaden your horizons - lol ? Julia Quinn :)

Lauren Smith | 5226 comments Lol, maybe as a last resort. I've seen her books in the shops; at least they're short.

I've been browsing authors and I stumbled across Chelsea Quinn Yarbro, who writes historical vampire fiction. Might try that. Has anyone read her work? Any recs?

Lu (Sugar & Snark) | 7820 comments I'll make threads for the 2012 A-Z challenges soon :)

Lauren Smith | 5226 comments Sigh, I'm not going to make it. I'll use the books I was going to use for the hard letters here, for the 2012 challenge.

Barbara | 3696 comments Wise choice. You would have the same problem again next year and you would have had to read a lot of books in these last weeks.
