This is the general discussion thread for your club. If you choose to read 100 books in 2011, then this is where you can catch up with other members aiming for the same goal.

I read 109 books last year and that was by shear luck so this year I am going to start at 100 and hope to read more. I would love to be able to transfer my list to another higher group but am not holding my breath that it will happen...if it does then great if not OH Well!!! I am going to read at my pace and get as many books off my TBR pile as I can this year...
I'm choosing 100 books as my goal for 2011. I really had hoped to reach 144 in 2010, and the first half of the year got me more than halfway there (78 books by the end of June). But the second half of the year was terrible for reading; I only read 22 books for a total of 100. I might be able to get a few more in before the new year, but no way will I reach 144. So I'm aiming at 100 for 2011.
The last few months of this year have been terrible for my reading as well. I'm glad we have the new set-up and I've settled for a more manageable 100, with a hope to bump up!
hmmmm.....i'm thinking i'm going to aim for 100 this coming year. i hit 80 finished books, just started #81 the other day. i have so much going on from late October through December that it's a toss up to how much i get a chance to read. i think 100 is a good goal for me!
Right now I am two books away from the 144 goal. I'm sure I can meet the goal and I keep going back and forth between 100 (reading less) and 150 (just a few more) but I am leaning toward 100 and then if I go over, I guess I can move to 150. I'm going to think about this for a few more days before I set up a folder and make a commitment to one number or another.
I hope to make 100 in 2011. This year I've only read 63, so I'm going to have to do better next year if I want to make it.
I just passed 100 this year, and while I might get another couple of books read before the end of the year, I won't be anywhere near making the 144. So it's a 100 target for me in 2011!
I actually have over 200 for 2010, but decided to scale down because, oh the pressure!! But I know I can always move up.
I am going to aim for 100 books this year because now that I have two kids (and one is a baby) my reading time has definitely taken a hit. I read 131 this year but most of that happened before the baby and before I went back to work.
In 2010, I read twice as many books as I read in 2009 (though no where near the 144 target!), so this year, I'm aiming to double that number again, which would put me right around the 100 book mark. So here I am!
I was involved in a 50-book challenge in 2010, and I managed to read 70. I have been frustrated at various times this year that I wasn't making as much progress numbers-wise as I'd like, but looking back over the year, I am surprised I managed that many, as I was juggling several groups' challenges and had to choose books that could overlap/count for multiple challenges, plus books-of-the-month in various groups, and many of my books read this year ended up being quite long or "difficult" reads (translations, experimental formats, challenging narrative, things I needed to stop/start to digest or appreciate, etc.). So I am pleased to have read 70, most of which were very enjoyable. For 2011, I figured 100 was a good number to aim for, as it will stretch me beyond what I managed this year.
I'm in again this year. Since I did not even come close to the 144 (just short of 100 reads for 2010) this year I thought I would set my sights a bit lower and maybe achieve a goal of 100 reads in 2011.I am in need of help to move my 2010 thread to a place I will be able to access it more easily, so any help will be appreciated.
Happy New Year Everyone
I am so glad that I am not the only person in this group who didn't make it to 144 (I hate being the odd girl out LOL). While I was somewhat bummed out that I didn't read 144, I just finished off #104! I haven't read that many books since I was a teen, so I consider this a pretty darn good accomplishment! I am being realistic with my goal of 100 for 2011, but hopeful that I can hit that target and beyond :)
I didn't join this group and really start working towards a goal until May of this year. I've read 84 books this year (85 if I finish the book I started today before midnight!). At first, I was bummed that I didn't hit 144, but now, I'm very happy with myself. I managed to read more this year than I have in a long time, and I discovered some fantastic new books. My favorite book was the same for 13 years, and now I actually have a list of favorites!I can't wait until 2011 starts so I can get to work and hopefully read even more than 100 books. :D

Happy New Year readers!!
I discovered goodreads a few months ago and have been waiting for January to start the challenge. I have an 8 month old so we'll see how far along I can get-she really cuts into my reading time! :) That pesky job gets in the way too! I finished a book today and have my first 2011 book ready for tomorrow. Good Luck everyone!!
I am also bummed out I didn't make my 144 (I read 124). The last few years I read around 200 books so I thought 144 was going to be a breeze...wrong! We fostered a cat and her kittens for several months in 2010 and I found very little time to read during that time. Not sure when the next set of fosters will arrive, but I plan to read lots until then!Happy New Year and good luck everyone on your reading goals!
This is my first year with the group. My goal is simply to read as much as possible and hope that gets me over 100.
Happy New Year all!I fell short of 144 last year (only made it to 108), so I'm shooting for 115 this year.
Happy New Year. I failed to reach 144 :( However I made it over 100 so the line 100 seems fine to me and perhaps I will manage more with my tiny sony book reader. Traveling lot reading lot :)
Hi everyone :) I'm new to the group but looking forward to the challenge. I made 106 books last year but some were pattern books/or children's books that I threw into my personal list cause I was feeling discouraged about how little I was reading during the fall months. Hopefully I'll get to that number again with a stricter policy of counting. Happy reading! Happy New Year! Looking forward to seeing what people have on their lists.
I loved being part of the challenge last year (I read 103 books) and I'm looking forward to this year and I feel 100 books is a good number to read.
I just joined Goodreads today and found this challenge. I have no idea of how many books I've read in the past as I've never kept up with it, so I'm hoping this goal of 100 won't be too hard. I also have no idea of what this year will be like as I'm quitting my job and moving overseas but I'm hoping to have more time to read.
Happy New Year, and good luck to everyone on meeting their goals!
Well, I didn't hit 144 last year (or even come close, LOL). Actually, I didn't even hit 100... so I figure that 100 is still a worthy challenge ;)
I did 233 and am wondering if perhaps I should shoot for a high goal. I read like crazy last year, and don't know if I can top it. Just being cautious I guess. Does anyone else have an opinion? I'm just looking for a little feedback. At this point, I'm waiting too see how I'm doing in April before I move up.
I'd reevaluate in April myself. Unless you feel like you'll relax too much in reading and won't challenge yourself if you just pick 100 and know you'll easily pass it. Maybe 150?

The Mexican Baja Cartel wants to take over the marijuana operation in Southrern Cal. However, when they kidnap Chon and Ben's friend, Ophilia, they go too far.
I'm going to aim for 100 books this year. Last year I was going strong until July and then I got busy in the fall with school starting up again. I hope I'll do better this year! :)
I have noticed that some of you are able to make the title to your book into a hyperlink. It makes it easier for anyone who wants to check out a book I have read for more information.I have no idea how to do this but would like to if someone is willing to walk me through it???

When you type in the comment box, you will see "add book/author" just above the box. Click on it, enter your book title and whether you want the cover or title (you can go back do it again to get both), find it, then click "add". You can add an author the same way. Simple!
I love how this group is organized this year and appreciate all the work put into it (thanks, Aths & Lisa!)I made it to 90 last year and felt pretty good about it. This was the first year i'd kept track and it was great to have goals and keep track. Since I read 7-9 books/month and couldn't fit more in, 100 seems to be more reasonable for me than 144. As a teacher, mother of 3, etc. etc.... time is limited.
Happy reading to all of you!
I'm only on book 3/4/5 right now. I'm trying to get better organized about my time at home, so that I can read longer.
I just joined this group and thought I'd throw my hat in the 100+ books ring. I read 122 last year so I'm pretty sure I can read more than 100 books.
Michelle wrote: "I'm reading four books right now, ahhh! I'm kind of getting confused lol"Me too. :) I had to stop and stick to one book eventually.

I never read more than one book at a time until late last year. The worst thing was when I was reading 3 YA books about a dystopian/post-apocalyptic future at the same time. Omg, sooo confusing. They were so jumbled together in my head I had to re-read the beginning of one of them just to make sure I was remembering the right stuff. Now I try to keep the genres a bit more separated when I have more than one book going haha
I am finishing books 3 & 4 right now. It isn't helping me that I am reading a lot of big books recently.

Haha! I usually mix and read, mainly because if I start a book during a weekday, it will be forever before I get it done. So I keep starting new books. And then I get bored by one or two on the way.
What's happening in this club? How many has everyone read this month? I only logged 7, thanks to a slow start. Hope Feb will be better. I will hate to be behind once the first review month comes by. I was actually hoping to upgrade my target.
I finished 10 books and started 5 more that didn't get finished for one reason or other...Hopefully February will be better...
