672625 Okay so I need to add 55 new books to my books at home that I havent read! I won an auction on Ebay for 55 romantic suspense books, lots of great authors and all for 20 bucks including shipping!! Hope I can get the box in the house when my husband is at work-hahahaha.

2485778 You can keep one in your car the other on your bed side table :)

Nophoto-u-25x33 I have over 100 , yet as soon as I am done with one I go to swaptree and get another. I have never had any duplicates except this last week. Everyone here has been raving about Shutter Island so I swapped for it and it is on its way. I told my mom about it and she told me that I had loaned that book to her months ago and to tell me if she liked it.. but she had not gotten around to it yet. So now I am the proud owner of 2 unread copies. sigh.

2002643 I'm so guilty of splurging I don't even want to count.

message 493: by Dree (new)

837466 I can't even answer this--my husband and I have mixed our books for 20 years. (What is more amazing is that I have known him for over half my life now!) What's his? What's mine? Who knows.

I have bought exactly 1 fiction book in 9 years. A friend's first novel. Yes, I have read it. It was good.

My becoming a library girl through-and-through was a budget decision. I never did by hardbacks though, I have always gone to the library for new fiction!

Now, I do have 3 library fiction books sitting here that I haven't touched. And 1 from my queue has come in. Ruh-Roh!

Nophoto-f-25x33 I think I have a good 15 or 20 to be read. Not sure when I will get around to reading them, but I hope it will be sooner rather than later!

message 486: by Julianne (new)

560953 I just moved, and I need to buy a new bookcase (side note!), but I separated my books into "read" and "to be read". I haven't read yet but I have 2 shelves worth on my unread bookcase, and it's probably over 50. And I know I have books at my dad and sister's house that I haven't read yet.

message 485: by Leonor (new)

2751946 well....most of the books in my living room (the bookcase occupies the whole wall, without counting with the ones in my room).those are my parents'.theyre almost all history books, I hate history

message 484: by Sibyl (new)

1217986 I now have 12 unread books at home and that's a personal record for me. The pile looks very intimidating, maybe I should start with the shorter ones.

message 483: by Rosemary (new)

1405862 hee hee hee, anytime, honey

message 482: by Sarah (new)

2423357 Ooooooh, Rosemary, I like that idea. Thanks for the idea, the permission, and the fodder for my disease. :) :)

Sarah, you're the best! You remind me so much of my daughter when she was in college, she would go to the thrift stores for her clothes then off to the book store to spend her money on 'real things" do me a favor, next time you're buying books, buy yourself a nice fancy book bag to carry all of those books around in!

message 480: by Sarah (new)

2423357 Hahahaha that's awesome. And P.S. I want to come to Australia so I'm jealous enough already haha <3

message 479: by Lindz (new)

2485778 Yeah I am the same, work in a book store in Australia, I have a box in the back room filled with books I must buy on pay day.

message 478: by Sarah (new)

2423357 Ashley, I know what you mean. I got a job at Barnes & Noble my senior year in high school. Before that, I would borrow so many books from the library, and if they didn't have what I wanted (which was incredibly often), I'd be like 'oh, well, one less book on my list'. But see employee discount....?? Ever since, I buy books like my life depends on it. I'm as broke as the rest of my college friends, but they've all like bought whole new wardrobes or good food in the city. I have a stack of books in every crevice of this dorm room.

message 477: by Ashley (new)

2689336 There are about 15-20 books that I need to read (not including the "Chronicles of Narnia" and the "His Dark Materials" trilogy...),but that's only because I thought I was going to be doing some major reading this year, only to be taken up by my AP European history class :(

I am still buying books from my to-buy list, though... I all of a sudden got into this book-buying craze that is leaving me broke xD

message 476: by Li (new)

990839 How many book have you bought that are still sat on your shelves at home?
Here at home I have about 12 books. At my dorm I have about 5 books so that makes 17 books in total (it's been a while since my TBR has gone that big---and they're all books that I own) xD

message 475: by Dara (new)

210372 Ummmm...I have way too many to count! When I find books at a bargain I can't help but buy them....then of course I have my library books that when they come I HAVE to read them because I have to return them.

message 474: by Jessi (new)

2410221 Miriam wrote: "Most of the books I buy are being "saved" in case I run out of library books. Hey, it could happen..."

It could... I live in Cincinnati. We have the 9 largest library in the United States! But still there are times when the library does not have things that I need.

message 473: by Miriam (new)

237469 Most of the books I buy are being "saved" in case I run out of library books. Hey, it could happen...

message 472: by Susan (new)

672625 It makes me feel so much better to know that I'm not the only one who hoards and has so so many and still keeps buying.......

message 471: by Lynne (new)

2182361 When I start feeling guilty about my book buying and book hoarding, I simply turn to my fellow GoodReads addicts and instantly my guilt is assuaged.

message 470: by Susan (new)

672625 Wow, thats quite a jump!! What happened?? LOL

message 469: by Catamorandi (new)

754081 I reported in a previous post that I had 27 unread books in my bookshelves. It seems to have grown quite a bit since then. I now have 82 unread books.

April and Rita, I am exactly the same way too. I have so many unread books of my own and keep borrowing from the library because I'm afraid I'm going to miss a good one!! LOL-I'm an addict!!

message 467: by Rita (new)

1213816 April wrote: "I have a ridiculous amount of books that sit on my book shelves unread. But then, I come from a place where the library holds semi-annual buy a bag/box of books for a dollar sale, where I come out ..."

April, I have the same problem. I own a lot and then I go to the library and never read what I have.

message 466: by Rita (new)

1213816 I've yet to go through all the responses, but I've got 400+ unread books here at home.

message 465: by Jen (new)

2380713 I have 27 unread books. I've been trying to get that number down...but then I either get books from the library or somehow end up in a bookstore. :)

message 464: by Ashley (new)

257698 I have about 2 years worth of books to read. Which is why I am making it a personal goal to NOT BUY ANYMORE BOOKS until I get my shelves down to a "reasonable" number.

message 463: by Rachel (new)

2345961 I have about 20 un-read books in my shelf, but only because I continue to buy new ones as I read.

message 462: by Miriam (new)

237469 Hundreds. And that's not counting all my roommate's books that I haven't read.

message 461: by Bhumi (new)

2489840 I have less books at home than on my TBR list, that's for sure.

message 460: by carol (akittykat) (new)

2524666 In case of computer annihilation

message 459: by Miss GP (new)

2140505 Heck, I've got 140 on my Sony eBook Reader, plus hundreds on my shelves here at home, plus another 50 or so under my desk at work. I think I've probably got about five years' worth of reading stockpiled.

message 458: by carol (akittykat) (new)

2524666 I have whittled my book pile down. I have eight books left,so I will be making my book runs soon
I have these left.

Incas
The Story Of Ruth
Winds Of Change
Bloody Mary
Tathea
Demian
The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test
And Ladies Of The Club

I am currently reading the last one

message 457: by Sarah (new)

2423357 Hahahaha

message 456: by Lindz (new)

2485778 :) There are two very large piles, and I think they need a building permit.

message 455: by Sarah (new)

2423357 Lindsay, I'm so impressed. How'd you manage to get 40 books to fit next to your bed? :D

message 454: by Lindz (new)

2485778 I am about similar, I have about 40 unread books sitting next to my bed, and that doesn't include the books I want to re-read. I have not even counted the unread on my shelves!!!

message 453: by Stephanie (new)

1702211 Vicki_girl - you made me feel a lot better! :D I currently have 108 sitting on my shelves unread, which is a little over a year's supply if I don't check anything out from the library, borrow from friends, or hit any book sales or thrift stores. Which is wholly unrealistic - I can't seem to get under 100 these days without adding more! :)

message 452: by vicki_girl (last edited Oct 09, 2009 07:19AM) (new)

1344613 I was putting off counting them up, but I couldn't resist any longer...the grand total came to 447 books. In my defense, though, 180 of these I recently acquired from my folks. Gah! That means 267 are my own fault!

...And I'm planning on going to large regional bookfair this weekend. I need help. :S

Michelle, I can totally relate. Used book sales are new to me also and totally addicting. The idea that you can get so many good books for less than what you would pay for one new one is so exciting. I also used to only have a few unread books on my shelf b/c I bought as I read, and the idea that more than half of my books are now unread is amazing to me. I have no idea when I'm going to get to them all b/c I have no intention of stopping buying, there are still books on my wishlist waiting for me to find them and bring them home.

message 450: by Michelle♥ (new)

2607921 Yeah, just hit my new high and first time ever. I have over 80 books here in my apartment to be read.

This is a new thing for me, especially since I tend to not buy that many books at once due to the fact that I can never decide which one to read next!

Going to used booksales is also new to me and I recently went overboard at the one this past weekend and that's where all these books came from!

Now I have to fight the urge to go out to bookstores or booksales. I want so many books and I want to read them all. Even though there's EIGHTY sitting all in my TBR bookCASE, that's right CASE not shelf!!
It's absolutely mindblowing to me that I still want to buy books after I have so many at home waiting to be read.
Oh well. I have an addiction. At least I can be proud of it! ;)

message 449: by Lisa (new)

1151972 I have been getting most of the books I'm reading right now from the library, but I have not stopped buying. When the coupons from Borders or B&N arrive, I feel compelled to make a trip to the bookstore. Even worse, sometimes I use it online, but have to buy more books to get the free shipping.

message 448: by Sarah (new)

2423357 Yes, I have probably about 100
