Happy Thanksgiving! Kudos and thank you to producers. Thank God for many things and for Ayn Rand.
"Thanksgiving is a typically American holiday. In spite of its religious form (giving thanks to God for a good harvest), its essential, secular meaning is a celebration of successful production. It is a producers’ holiday. The lavish meal is a symbol of the fact that abundant consumption is the result and reward of production. Abundance is (or was and ought to be) America’s pride—just as it is the pride of American parents that their children need never know starvation." - Ayn Rand

I updated the Reason Reigns & Royal Serf group. I hope you visit when you have the time - http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/1249...
My pleasure, Teresa. It's very nice to have you here. Best premises and good fortune on your writing.
Thank you for Ilyn for the invitation to the Happy & Brainy Group!
Nice to be in such good company. I edit a friend's book manuscript drafts & enjoy writing myself. The writing bug has bitten me again & I struggle to find the free time to put all of my thoughts & ideas down on paper.
Am very interesting to hear more of your Literary Agent and publishing experiences..
TO: Stephen Turner: title of your ship is the Cassiopeia? Named after Queen Cassiopeia of the Greek Myth of the constellation, no doubt
My friend Ilyn Ross has kindly invited me to let you know that my giveaway novel “Headless World — The Vatican Incident” will end on Oct.15. You can enter at:

Hi Donna,
I'm so glad to hear from you. My heart goes out to you. I pray that you are fine now. George and Donald are very happy in heaven.
I will send you Royal Serf asap. We created three trailers for it: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_qu...
Take care. Have a marvelous weekend.
Hugs,
Ilyn
Hi Ilyn, I watched the clip about Howard Roark makes a case against Barack Obama. I saw the movie where the clip came from. Everything that Gary Cooper said to the jury is true in my eyes. No one can take another's true worth, only that person can. I hope I am making sense.
In response to an earlier question from you about your new book, the answer is yes. I would love it if you would send me a copy at the same address. I have finished George's memeorial in NY in the middle of May. Also, my twin brother, Donald was found dead in his apartment on April 23rd. He had been dead 6 days before someone called the police, because his T.V. was playing 24/7 for the 6 days. The police broke in the door and found him. He had a massive heart attack. Needless to say I was devestated. I took care of his arrangements after George's. I came home the end of May and have been very ill, since. I have the best luck--not! I would like to say Hi the gang and to the new members. Hugs, Donna

Dear Friends,
May you and your loved ones have a safe, joyous Christmas and a blessed 2009. May all your Christmas and New Year wishes come true.
Christmas
(Ayn Rand's answer to the question of whether it is appropriate for an atheist to celebrate Christmas)
Yes, of course. A national holiday, in this country, cannot have an exclusively religious meaning. The secular meaning of the Christmas holiday is wider than the tenets of any particular religion: it is good will toward men — a frame of mind which is not the exclusive property (though it is supposed to be part, but is a largely unobserved part) of the Christian religion.
The charming aspect of Christmas is the fact that it expresses good will in a cheerful, happy, benevolent, non-sacrificial way. One says: “Merry Christmas” — not “Weep and Repent.” And the good will is expressed in a material, earthly form — by giving presents to one’s friends, or by sending them cards in token of remembrance . . . .
The best aspect of Christmas is the aspect usually decried by the mystics: the fact that Christmas has been commercialized. The gift-buying . . . stimulates an enormous outpouring of ingenuity in the creation of products devoted to a single purpose: to give men pleasure. And the street decorations put up by department stores and other institutions — the Christmas trees, the winking lights, the glittering colors — provide the city with a spectacular display, which only “commercial greed” could afford to give us. One would have to be terribly depressed to resist the wonderful gaiety of that spectacle.

Japi, please email me your address at ilynross@optonline.net so I could send you a copy.
Thanksgiving is a lot of fun, too. A good excuse to get together with family. We had two of the kids over, played some cards, took a long walk with the dogs & chatted a lot. We had a wonderful chicken dinner with all the trimmings & a pumpkin pie. It was fun.
I hope you all had as good a one.
