Pam | 7969 comments Good morning everyone! Lisa glad to hear that you have a day off today. No more 8 days in a row for a while, I hope. How is your work computer? Did they get all the repairs done?

OK, so I am so annoyed! The other morning I wake up and head to the kitchen for my coffee to find that the refrigerater door is open. HMMMMMMMMM, I think, I wonder what Ruben was in the fridge for this early in the AM or certainly it has not been open all night. So I mention to Ruben that the fridge door was open and I guess we need to really make an effort to make sure it is closed. This morning the f'ing door is open!!!! WHY CAN I SEE THAT and HE CAN NOT????? I say to him this morning, "The damn door is open AGAIN" He just says HMMMMM, really? I got my coffee and walked away. I suspect that someone is coming in at night to open our refrigerater door to f with us.

I will be heading to the grocery store for a few things, ebay during the day and cards with a few of the girls tonight.

I just received a phone call from the nursing home. Rita fell trying to get from the toilet to her chair. She did not press the call light when she was done, and the girls thought that they had moved her chair far enough away from her...She is not injured.

Pam | 7969 comments I just looked at the calendar and realized that we are 42 days until Memphis...

Lisa B. | 4231 comments I was just looking for you, forgot that we started a new string. Thought maybe Val was having the baby!

message 4: by Lisa B., The Book Hoarder (new)

Lisa B. | 4231 comments Maybe Scooby is fing with you guys and opening the ddor. Set up a sneaky camera like they do on TV.

So - Rita. I'm not going to say anything.

Pam | 7969 comments I bet that Scooby is the culprit! Ruben says it is not him. Let's see, two people in the house and I know that I was not the last one in the fridge. Who could it be? BUT, I am going to just let it go. HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA, now that is funny! That is just not how I roll!

Dang, I put a huge list of books on my wishlist at bookins, I hope that they don't all come in at the same time or I am screwed. I've got over 200 points and I feel like they are just being wasted. Why pay full price for a book when I can get them for $4.49, right? Please tell me I am using the correct logic, here. Really, I need to hear it. He (Ruben) DID leave the fridge door open.

Lisa B. | 4231 comments My work computer is slick. I can now do everything I need to and it makes such a huge difference.. I am almost finished with The Historian. I still really like it, but it is getting a little wordy and I'm kinda skimming to get to the end.

I picked up The Tenth Parallel The Tenth Parallel from the library yesterday and I have Mary Sutter waiting for me on Kindle.

I got this for Mom Fifth Avenue, 5 00 AM Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany's, and The Dawn of the Modern Woman Fifth Avenue, 5:00am. Can't tell if she likes it or not.

I had gotten her Furious Love Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, and the Marriage of the Century Furious Love, but she did not like it. Only read so many pages and said she did not like that it seemed Elizabeth Taylow always got what she wanted.

Can you tell I like this business of adding books to the post?

message 7: by Lisa B., The Book Hoarder (new)

Lisa B. | 4231 comments Pam, I agree totally with your logic about bookins (I have to agree, because I am doing the same thing!). So - what books did you list?

Pam | 7969 comments Here is what I have requested from bookins:

A Secret Kept

The Lotus Eaters

The Confession by John Grisham (not out yet)

Still Missing

Two for the Dough

message 9: by Lisa B., The Book Hoarder (new)

Lisa B. | 4231 comments hmmmmmm - all look very interesting! ok - off to the grocery store. be back later

Pam | 7969 comments Forgot to add

The Invisible Bridge: A Novel

I'm heading to the grocery store too, but I think that "HE" is going to go with me. I just had to dump an entire gallon of milk. He told me that he would buy be another gallon. Is that the f'n point? I don't think so! But, I am definitely over it.

message 11: by Lisa B., The Book Hoarder (new)

Lisa B. | 4231 comments I could tell that you are over it!

Just got back - the rest of the day is mine!

Pam | 7969 comments We are back from the store and am getting started on some listings.

I must close this site out or I am too easily distracted. I will check in later...

Have a great day everyone!

Sue | 77 comments i like book signings. i've been to a few. i saw mem fox, the children's writer with koala lou, william least heat moon with blue highways, stephen ambrose with citizen soldiers and mary englebreit. all took plenty of time with you. my very favorite was dog, the bounty hunter. i have been a fan for quite a while, weird, i know.

Liz (MsEM) | 1990 comments I haven't made any wine recommendations of late... here we go. Find it at your local Target! http://goodmemoriescafe.blogspot.com/...

I can't wait to try a few other variatals. This stuff is very very good!

Pam | 7969 comments Liz, I reead your blog earlier today and was impressed with the wine suggestions. I am looking forward to giving it a try...

I am getting ready to head out for an evening of cards with the girls.

Linda passed her test for her continuing education for the life and health license! Yeah for Lin, you rock big sister!

Have a great evening everyone! Tomorrow I will fill you all in on mine and Valerie's conversation today. She is ready to have a baby and I agree it can't get here soon enough.

Lisa B. | 4231 comments We just lost electricity for a little over an hour. Made it through the whole hot summer with nary a glitch, and the lose power on one of the coolest days we've had for awhile - go figure!

Way to go Lin on passing your test. I'm sure you are relieved.

Liz (MsEM) | 1990 comments Yaaaaaaa Whoooooo, go Linda, you got your CELHL! lol Let's toast to that in Memphis!

Liz (MsEM) | 1990 comments Hello ladies, me and the chickens are up! They should learn how to make my coffee. But anywhhoooooooo,
Rise n shine all you Memphis bound Sweet Gals! And we will be thinkin' of you ladies who can't make it too! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXGDtM... Oh, Sweet Gals!

Liz (MsEM) | 1990 comments I think Pam might have a gbaby anytime now. I just have a feeling! Like today!

Pam | 7969 comments Good morning everyone! No baby, yet! But today is just getting started. I played cards last night and I screwed up my little going to bed process and I am very tired. Could not fall asleep in my bed. I went upstairs and pulled out the little couch, so I could fall asleep to some TV. I stayed there for a few hours and dozed. I finally went back to my bed around 2:30ish. I'm tired.

I have so much work to do. I am getting further behind by the moment...I must concentrate and stay focused. OHHHHHH something shiney just went by...

Until we started this trip, I simply did not realize the Blues influence that Memphis had. I think that I need to get out more. According to my calculations (and they could be wrong), we have 41 days to go.

Janet | 661 comments Good morning all, Both my sisters called me yesterday and one came by with a couple plants from Mom's funeral. I guess I was my imagination that they were mad, or maybe I was feeling a bit sorry for myself, anyway everything is fine. We are going one day next week to take Mom's clothes out of the house, for some reason Dad wants them gone NOW. I got out of the house the other night and went to my g-sons ballgame, he hit a awesome homerun! I drove yesterday for the first time in a while it went fine and I am feeling good so I am ready to BUST OUT OF HERE! I just can't get carried away with a bunch of walking or anything. Pam did I tell you my sister Jeri is not going on the cruise? It's probably best, she thinks she's a little more "high class" and it can be annoying sometimes. Liz, I have a "
feeling" about the baby today also. Linda, I am so happy about your test, I know you were stressing over it, but I knew you would pass, like I said you don't give yourself enough credit, I worked with you for 30 years remember? You are one smart cookie girlfriend? Well got to run my stomach is telling me to EAT! Have a good day ladies.

Pam | 7969 comments Hey Janet! Glad things are good with your family. Are you going to donate all of your mom's stuff or is someone going to store it for awhile? I can understand your dad wanting to have her clothes out, but you may want to think about storing it for a bit before just getting rid of everything.

That makes me laugh about your sister being "high class"! You have seen the way Ruben and I roll and it certainly is not "high class". Perhaps it is best for us lowly simple folks to go by ourselves...As we get closer to the date we can talk about making plans on getting there together.

You're right about Linda not giving herself enough credit! She is smart and she has always been someone that I admire.

Enjoy your day, but try not to overdo...

Liz (MsEM) | 1990 comments Glad to hear from you Janet! Also, glad you heard from your sistes as well. After my mom passed away, my dad not only got rid of my moms stuff, he moved to a new home... even got rid of his faithful companion, his dog! So grief works different as we well know for everybody.

Less than 24 hours to my big show! I'm organizing and pricing now. Packing it up this afternoon.

Lisa B. | 4231 comments Hi All - Janet, glad to see you post and that things with your family are looking better.

Liz - good luck with the show - I know we will all be anxiously waiting to hear how it went.

Nothin much going on here. Tom is at a retirement party, so Mom and I had a simple dinner - grilled cheese.
I totally enjoyed today's weather. Went for a walk on my lunch - it was great to get outside. I hope to do that more often as the temps stay cool.

Linda | 1009 comments Thank you so much for the wonderful comments Janet and Pam...I love you both very much...I think I was lucky, not piticularly smart....I just don't think I can do this license thing anymore. Thank god I had my shingles shot....HA!

we just got home from a retirement party and now I am ready to fall apart...I'm tired and I'm glad it's Friday!

Looking forward to Memphis!

Pam | 7969 comments What the hell does the shingles shot have to do with renewing your license?

Lisa, I mentioned to Linda that I am going to have Thanksgiving dinner here this year. You guys are welcome to come if you don't have any other plans. Linda thinks that that may be doing their own thing, but not quite sure yet. Josh and Meshach may be here, but not sure about that. Val, Kev and family are a definite.

Soooooo, the only thing that I am sure of is that I am cooking a turkey with all the fixin's and serving it around 5ish.

We have just finishhed watching 2 episodes of Dexter and trying to save the other 2 for tomorrow evening. This is really getting good!

Pam | 7969 comments Good morning everyone! Not much has happened to me since my last post so I think that this will be brief.

I did not get as much done yesterday as I had hoped so today and tomorrow is crunch time. The good thing about working for Ruben is I know I just have to flash the girls and I am off the hook. I would, however, like to make an attempt to get these listings done...

That is it for me, have a great day and I will be checking in here and there.

Janet | 661 comments Good morning, this morning we are going to our g-sons soccer game at 9:00am after that we might stop by Von Maur, a new department store that is having it's grand opening this weekend, they tout is as quite the gala event! It all depends on how I feel. Pam, shingles can be brought on by stress and I think that's what Linda means, the test and studying is stressful, although the shot only gives you a 50% chance of not getting them, it's not a guarantee you won't get them. Have a great weekend everyone.

Pam | 7969 comments Janet wrote: "Pam, shingles can be brought on by stress and I think that's what Linda means, the test and studying is stressful, although the shot only gives you a 50% chance of not getting them, it's not a guarantee you won't get them..."

OOOOHHHHHHHHHHH, thanks for the explanation. I just was not making that connection, AT ALL!!!!

It is going to be a nice day for sitting outside watching the soccer game, Janet. ENJOY!

Linda | 1009 comments Hi all...yes that was exactly what I was getting at. We just got home from grocery shopping....there went $122....eck.

Mom called me and said her hair was horrible...I said what happened...she said she fell asleep and it's a mess. So I'll take my curling iron tomorrow and get her fixed up.... I asked her if she went to wal mart this week, and she said no, she missed the bus...I said Mom, don't they go a couple days a week? yea she said. Well I said then maybe what you needed was not so important...she said yes, true.

well, guess I will give Pam a call, you all have a good day!

Lisa B. | 4231 comments Hi Ladies - I worked today, tried to take a nap so I could stay up later tonight since I am off tomorrow. I usually read and the cats are with me. By the time I'm ready to try and nap, the cats are all comfy and I'm all contorted trying to accommodate them, so no real sleeping took place. I mentioned this to Tom - he said "give them the boot" - No way!

Janet - glad to hear you are continuing to ease your way back into a normal routine - nothing like a shopping trip! We've been seeing the commercials for the new store - if you go, I'll be curious to see what you think.

Pam, thanks for the invite on Thanksgiving. We don't have any definite plans, so I'll keep you posted. We would love to see Josh and Meshach if they come to town.

Tara - sounds like you guys are making good progress!

and Liz.....can't wait to hear your success story from today. I thought about earlier and sent positive thought your way.

I've finished the Historian. All in all, it was very good. A smidge too long - don't know if that was because I was anxious to see what the end would be. I have picked my Kindle back up to read Mary Sutter.

Pam, I am jealous that you have all these good dvds to watch - with Dexter and the Tudors. We still haven't picked up the Mad Men dvd that is sittung on top the TV. Don't know why we can't get back into it. Need to find something else. The final season of the Tudors will be available on Netflix mod october.

Lisa B. | 4231 comments Pam - have you looked at Fall of Giants

Pam | 7969 comments Lisa wrote: "Pam - have you looked at Fall of Giants"

I have and am VERY interetsed! Should we get it on kindle?

OH and it surre didn't take you long to get trhough

The Historian. Would you recommmend it?

Pam | 7969 comments I just looked at amazon and Fall oof Giants is gooing to cost $19.99 for the kindle edition. That sucks! It is the same price as the hardcover. That really sucks! I can't hardly justify spending that on an e=book even if we are gettiing 2 copies. Hey, really, we are getting two for one. Maybe that isn't so bad? Do you have an opinion that you would like to share with your kindlle buddy

Pam | 7969 comments We are really forcing ourselves to go slow with The Tudors because we know that it will be coming to an end sooon.

Pam | 7969 comments Forgot to sy "HI" to Linda and to Tara! Hi girls.

I sure hope that Liz is doiing well at her sale!

message 38: by Lisa B., The Book Hoarder (new)

Lisa B. | 4231 comments well - kindle buddy - I am fairly certain I can get Fall of Giants for $9.95, no s&h, in hard copy from one of my book clubs. I really do not want to start paying $19.99 for kindle books. Unfortunately, I think we may see more and more of this with kindle. I am willing to wait for the kindle price to go down. It's not like I (we) don't have 9 mil other books to read.

Pam | 7969 comments You're right and thanks for being the voice of reason. The price will go down...

message 40: by Lisa B., The Book Hoarder (new)

Lisa B. | 4231 comments it's because i'm cheap

Pam | 7969 comments HHAHAHHAHAHAHA you're not cheap/just responsible

Pam | 7969 comments Good morning everyone! So much to do today. I just realized that I have not done laundry for us for a couple of weeks. How did that happen? Why do we have enough clothes that I wouldn't notice that? So, I will be doing laundry, finishing my ebay stuff (I'm very close to being done).

I am heading to Valerie's tomorrow to help her freshen up her house, do a little laundry for them and paint her toenails. She just is not able to bend over enough to paint those suckers. Maleah will come home with me in the afternoon and then we will meet Mama, Daddy and Baby Devin on Tuesday at the hospital. This is all so exciting! I wonder if any of us will sleep Monday night?

message 43: by Lisa B., The Book Hoarder (new)

Lisa B. | 4231 comments Good Morning

Oh, Gosh Pam, we are excited too! Does Val have a scheduled time for her c section? How is she getting to the hospital? I am being nosy.

message 44: by Lisa B., The Book Hoarder (new)

Lisa B. | 4231 comments I got up early because it makes my day off seem longer. We are being asked to work 8 hours of OT by the end of the month, so I need to start in on some of that, but not today.

We see Eat Pray Love. It will be my sis Sharon and niece Becky. We are having take out Chinese for dinner, so my day is pretty easy

Pam | 7969 comments Sounds like you are really going to have a very nice day today, Lisa!

Valerie's c-section is scheduled for 9:30, she must be there at 7:30 and she is driving herself to the hospital. That is my independant Val, she will have it no other way...

message 46: by Lisa B., The Book Hoarder (new)

Lisa B. | 4231 comments That Val - has she always been independent like that?

Pam | 7969 comments I'm afraid that she has. I will take some credit for that, since I always made sure that she knew that she could do anything herself. Why didn't she learn some of the other life lessons that I tried to teach her?

Liz (MsEM) | 1990 comments Good Morning! I am going to have a very lazy day today. I'm beat. I totally enjoyed my show yesterday.

Great location for the event, many, many people,
however.... not much buying. Many vendors said the same thing. I had 7 sales, 3 totems, and 3 pieces of wired beach glass and one hand painted beach sign. I came out ahead after the booth rental of $60 was factored in. I think I kinda had a bad spot on the vendor path. I did meet some local Etsy shop owners and they told me about the Indie Market in Greensboro NC (bigger town and a monthly event. Cheaper too)

But hey, I sold more stuff than I ever have in one place, hooooorraaayyyyyy!

Next week I have a house to clean, and my studio needs organizing before it gets out of hand! I'll also be placing my earrings and a few other things on line at the store.

So I'd say it was sucessful!

Hey one thing though on the downside. This place is a park, so your location is in the dirt and grass along and in between the trees. So I HAD THE DIRIEST FEET EVER! OMG I HATE SAND or DIRT BETWEEN MY TOES! THANK GOD I DID NOT WEAR FLIP FLOPS! I had dusty cake feet all day.... YUCK!

Pam | 7969 comments Congratulations on such a successful sale! Too bad about your actual vendor location.

I have 39 days until Memphis! Could that be correct? OMG, it is going to be here before you know it. Which reminds me, Liz, I never did get any updated email with flight information. So, when you think about it, send it to me again, please.

message 50: by Lisa B., The Book Hoarder (new)

Lisa B. | 4231 comments Hi Liz - I'd say you were successful! The Indie Market sounds like a good idea. So not only did you make sales, you made some contacts and learne more about the Indie Market. I think that's how this goes, networking - learning - getting new ideas.....

Pam - I can just see Val - "ok - off to the hospital to have a baby - see ya!"
