I have heard from what seems like EVERYONE that they are reading or have read the "Twillight" series...Is there any other series that anyone lOVES and recommends to read? If so what are they!! Please share!!!

My top picks of Book Series:

Odd Thomas series by Dean Koontz (small town fry cook who can see evil spirits called bodachs and hangs out with the ghost of Elvis... this is my all time favorite series!)
Dexter series by Jeff Lindsay (serial killer who you cant help but love! close second to Odd Thomas)
Left Behind series (if your into christian fiction, this is a very long series!)
Shopaholic series (if you are into chick-lit)

I like the Alex Cross series by James Patterson. Also I spose it's a series, all the books by Lee Child have the main central character Jack Reacher and I absolutely love these books! I've read the first Shopaholic and have the rest to read. Also have the first Dexter and the first Odd Thomas. I love to read a series so will be looking eagerly at these posts :)

Marion Keyes books about the irish sisters.I started with Anybody Out There and quikly had to buy the rest.

If you're looking for great fantasy series to try, I'd definitely recommend the Narnia series by C.S. Lewis or the Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini :)

Another favorite of mine is the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series!

I'm with Mandy.. although I haven't read as much of it as I would like, I do like the Alex Cross series.

I'm trying to think of others that I like... I recently read Uglies by Scott Westerfield, and I'm told the rest of the series is fairly good too. Obviously there is also Harry Potter, which I am a big fan of.

I read a couple of the Janet Evanovich books from the Stephanie Plum series, and enjoyed them, although I then moved onto other things and never picked it back up again.

I've read all the Stephanie Plum series with the exception of her latest one and I've enjoyed them all.It's a light read and I frequently find myself laughing out loud much to my embarrassment when someone's home.

That's nothing to be embarassed about Sherry...I've sat laughing and crying at a book and out in public.

I hate getting THE LOOK in public!You know the one that implies you're out of your mind.
But they really are irresistable!How can you not laugh?

I finished Princess Mage while I was in a public place, and I just realized the next book isn't out, and the ending was fantastic! So I banged my head against the wall, constantly, and I got looks, believe me! Stephanie Plum, where have I heard that name before?

The Dark Tower series is great (even though I'm not completely finished)

Another series I absolutely loved was the Lytton Family trilogy by Penny Vincenzi. (sometimes called "The Spoils of Time" trilogy")

The first book is No Angel.

To comment on other posts...i have dabbled in both the Alex Cross series and the Evanovich series... enjoyed the books I've read so far.

I love of course The Outlander Series by Gabaldon, and the Shopaholic series by Kinsella...I've only read the first of the Plum series but really enjoyed it and plan to read the rest of them eventually...I also started Diane Mott Davidson's culinary mystery series which was ok (not a huge mystery person) will probably read the next books in the series...I also love many of VC Andrews short series.

I love Anne Perry's historical mystery series featuring Thomas and Charlotte Pitt.

Jim Butcher's Dresden Files series is a lot of fun and highly addictive.

The Look Sherry, I know what you mean, but, I feel sorry for those people. Then I wish for them, that someday they will read a book that will touch them and open up a whole new world for them.

You're much more enlightened then me LS,mostly I just want them to have the feeling of being LOOKED at themselves.Apparently Thich Nhat Hahn's writings are working much better for you than me!...:)

Jim Butcher's Dresden Files is great.

Harry Bosch by Michael Connely is awesome for a cop/murder/mystery series.

The Nic Costa Series by David Hewson is a good cop series as well set in Italy.

I would highly recommend the Inspector Lynley series by Elizabeth George. It's one of my favorites. I've also heard great things about the Inspector Morse series by Colin Dexter, altho I have not read it...

I'll second the recommendation of Elizabeth George's Inspector Lynley series - it is excellent.

C. J. Sansom's series about Matthew Shardlake, a Tudor lawyer who keeps stumbling on murder, is also excellent. There are four books in the series so far, although only the first three are out in the States as yet. They are all first-rate in my book.

Has anyone else read the Elm Creek Quilting Club series? They are easy reads, but I found them quite a few years ago and really got into them. They made me want to learn how to quilt. I didn't have enough time then...maybe I'll check into it now.

The Harry Potter series, when I read them for the first time, quickly became some of my favorite books of all time. i still love re-reading the series periodically. I haven't read Book 7 since I first read it last summer so I'm probably due for a re-reading.

I love Agatha Christie's Poirot series and Miss Marple series.

With all the Twilight buzz as of late, I'm very curious to pick up Twilight and see what all the buzz is about.

My favorite author to write series is VC Andrews. Most of her books are in series but there are different series. They are really good and twisted though :)

Kasi-I also love VC Andrews. A couple of summers ago a friend and I bought two of the series at a used bookstore and reread them. The Flowers in the Attic series is my favorite.

Another new Odd Thomas already? It's been a long time coming for a new Dexter book though. I was reading that Koontz said Odd Thomas will be complete after six books. I think that sounds about right. I used to read the Scarpetta that Patricia Cornwell writes. I'm sure I will pick up where I left off again soon enough. After a while it almost felt like she didn't even like the characters anymore. I'd hate to see Odd Thomas go that direction! I've read and reread Harry Potter. I intend to read Twilight soon.

I read alot of series , or books with the same charcters in the IE Jonathan Kellerman and his Alex Delaware series..the thing I hate though is that if he has a dry run with 1 or 2 bad books I get kinda leary of picking up #3 to see if he has gotten better.Of course I do pick it up and a majority of the time they bounce back.

I'm reading Dead Until Dawn by Charlaine Harris.
It's the first of a series. I've read From Dead to Worse before this. It is the last of the series.

I loved the Chronicals of Narnia by C.S. Lewis. Of course Lord of the Rings by Tolkien.

One that is absolutely great is The Wheel of Time Series by Robert Jordan. The final book is scheduled to be published in 2009. Can't wait. I would like to pick the series up again & reread it but it is 11 volumes.

I read the V.C Andrews series many years ago. That was a good series.

I have started Twilight not far into it because I read too many books.

My daughter absolutely loves the Twilight Series and has been reading Breaking Dawn all day.
