MarBear Blackburn (mbeth45) | 8830 comments I can't believe that summer is almost over. It's time to nominate our book for October. Remember the rules for picking our books:

The nominating process will start on the 1st day of every month.

2) The nominating process will end on the 7th day of every month.

3) The poll will start on the 8th day of every month.

4) The poll will end on the 15th day of every month.

5) We will read the top two books in the poll.

I think this will help because we will have set days for starting the whole process. I took out the rule that the books must be in paperback. Too many people have e-readers. Plz just nominate one book. Thanks

Nance (Nabpurple12) | 373 comments I would like to nominate an older book that was written about 30 years ago, The Far Pavilions. It is a long book, but I always heard so many good things about it.

The Far Pavilions

Annalie | 68 comments I nominate Anne Tyler's "Digging to America". She writes with amazing insight into human nature. This book deals with immigrants and adopted children and their traumas and joys; of being a stranger in a strange country.

Robynz33 | 15 comments Dracula :)

I second Far Pavilions. I read it several years ago and saw the movie. The book was better. I would like to read it again.

What a good idea - I remember starting The Far Pavilions years ago (and not finishing it) - I lost the book but have recently bought it again. So yes, my nomination is The Far Pavilions.

Dracula is the group read on the Victorians bookgroup in October for anyone who-s interested.

Becky (BeckyMurr) | 347 comments My other book group read Let The Great World Spin, when it first came out. A very good book for discussing

Robynz33 | 15 comments I could also do Let the Great World Spin

Tanya | 8 comments Dana wrote: "How about a scary classic in time for Halloween? I vote Bram Stoker's Dracula." I love that suggestion....

Deanna | 22 comments I third the nomination for Dracula. I love the idea of something a little scary just in time for Halloween.

Maggie | 601 comments Annalie, I read Digging to America when it first came out and really loved it.

Susan | 221 comments These Is My Wordsby Nancy E. Turner. THE DIARY OF SARAH AGNES PRINE, 1881-1901, Arizona Territories

Come one, come all - this book is crying out to be read. Who will join me in my quest for the pioneering adventure?

Carmen (carmelitasita) I would love to read Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel. It won the Man Booker prize in 2009 and is set in Tudor London. Thomas Cromwell is the main protagonist.
