Bentley | 19956 comments Here is a word game gotten from another group which folks are sharing.

You type an author's name like Ralph Waldo Emerson. Then the next person has to come up with an author's name that starts with the first letter of the last name like Edward Gibbon. It's really kind of fun and interesting to see all of the different authors there are. I'll start:

BTW: good idea from Elizabeth = add the citations so we can see what books they wrote with the usual photo if available and author's link

Z's, X's and probably Q's should be avoided; there are few author's who have a first name beginning with Z, X, Q and it only stifles the fun of the game. If a post ignores this request and no author can be found to move the game forward; then the post containing the author's name with the last name beginning with the letter z, x, q will be deleted so that the game can move forward. I guess that everybody should use common sense.

Shannon | 65 comments This is harder than it looks. I don't really classifiy authors by first name. I do it by last name because that's how you find them on most shelves.

Patricia C. Wrede Patricia C. Wrede The Enchanted Forest Chronicles Dealing with Dragons / Searching for Dragons / Calling on Dragons / Talking to Dragons Snow White And Rose Red (Fairy Tales) The Mislaid Magician or Ten Years After Being the Private Correspondence Between Two Prominent Families Regarding a Scandal Touching the Highest Levels of Government and the Security of the Realm (Cecelia and Kate, #3) The Seven Towers Magic & Malice (Mairelon the Magician / The Magician's Ward) Mairelon the Magician (Mairelon, #1) Magician's Ward (Mairelon, #2)

This, by the way is one of those happy discoveries! She didn't stop writing when I was in middle school. I forsee a month spent buried in Patricia C. Wrede!

message 16: by Elizabeth S (last edited Aug 27, 2010 10:18am) (new)

Elizabeth S (esorenson) | 2063 comments Agreed, Shannon. Actually, the hardest part for me is I want to clutter it up with talking about each author. I love Patricia Wrede as well, and am glad she is still writing.

Next author is the obvious William Shakespeare
William ShakespeareWilliam Shakespeare
Macbeth A Midsummer Night's Dream King Lear Romeo and Juliet Hamlet Julius Caesar (Folger Shakespeare Library) The Merchant of Venice (Folger Shakespeare Library) etc.
