I don't normally either, Kellee, that's why I thought it would be a good stretch. We could maybe open it up to reading someone else's favorite of 2010. Then if you didn't want to do a re-read you'd have to find someone who's favorite book is not something you've already read.

Heather Ohana (blackdotbug) I'm rethinking the winter break task. In addition to "takes place during", could we say "or a book on a recommended winter break/holiday reading list"?

I've got a few examples here:

http://www.cincinnatilibrary.org/book... (There's a Books for Teens section down the page. They are all Christmas oriented books)

http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/36... (again a very Christmas heavy list, and not all YA)

Heather, what do you think about "takes place over New Year's" since the first task in that section kind of encompasses winter books... Many YA books mention New Year's Eve/Day (especially the realistic books set within a school year.)

Jesi (pwnedkitten) | 198 comments For the re-read a book task... what do people think of "teaming up" with other WTers doing this challenge and swapping their favorite books from 2010? That way, we're doing even more communication between ourselves?

I like the "or winter break list" and Angela's idea (although I think most winter breaks include New Year's in them....) Go forth and listmake!

Speaking of which, when do you want me to post the "official" task post where we can post our lists?

I'd give it another week of discussion to find any ambiguous or difficult wording... And then wait til the questions really start! :) I look at contract writers with a whole new respect! Man, it's tough to be precise...

But at some point you'll have to just post it, even if everyone's ideas/suggestions haven't been incorporated.

I'd love to do the teaming up or something :)

Amy | 1931 comments Has everyone already started their lists?

Mandy (MLLoudRed) | 210 comments I started my list, but haven't gotten very far, basically browsed my shelf at home and my TBR list

Amy | 1931 comments Okay well guess I'll get a move on when I can get my printer to actually print out the guidelines. I love making lists!

Amy | 1931 comments So I have a few questions about the challenge. They may have been answered before so I'm sorry if I'm repeating.

1. How is the scoring working? I see 1.5, but that's not the score right?

2. Do we do each part of all the sections? Or do we pick and choose?

3. Only YA books right?

I'm starting my list today and just reading over everything seems very daunting!

1.5 means that it is the 1st section and worth 5 points.

You can pick and choose but you can only do each part once. I think all of it together equals 300 points, so that's the goal.

Yes only YA books. (Or Middle Grade) Except Jesi told me we could read Alex award winners and books out of the Ultimate Teen Book Guide

It ended up being fairly easy for me to find books on my bookshelves that will work for most tasks. Don't let it overwhelm you! And you don't have to make a list to participate, so if you want to fly by the seat of your pants you totally can.

Amy | 1931 comments So you do only ONE task from October, One from november, etc....?

message 65: by Jesi (last edited Aug 29, 2010 10:22AM) (new)

Jesi (pwnedkitten) | 198 comments Nah... you do each task (1.5, 1.10...) but instead of being able to do them several times (like in Angela's challenge, where you can do the same letter multiple times for a different value) you only do the task once. You just don't *have* to do all of them to make one of them count, if that makes sense?

Amy | 1931 comments Yes that does. I'm part of the way through my list (some of these are super tough to find). Gonna check my book stash and see what's in there next. Thanks for being patient with me.

I have my list ready (for the most part, except 4.5)- should I post it here or wait for the official?

Jesi (pwnedkitten) | 198 comments Seeing as people are already making their lists, I'm going to post the official rule post thing so that people can post their lists now, instead of waiting a week.

Amy | 1931 comments For section 4.15, can we also read a book that is on the WT Favorite's list? If not, is there a list somewhere of the books that have been up for discussion in the past?

4.5 is hard for me, because there are several books I liked that I've read in 2010,but were published in a different year. Does that make a difference?

If you look at the bookshelf for the group, it shows you all the books we've read in the past. :)

Amy | 1931 comments Excellent. Thanks!
