This is an idea I'm borrowing from another of my book clubs, but I thought it was neat and a good way to find more things to put on my TBR. Sometimes I imagine what it would be like if my TBR shelf was an actual shelf ... mind boggling.

Anyway, after you finish what you're currently reading what are the next five books you plan on reading?

On deck I've got:

1. The Maze Runner by James Dashner (for our Group Read)
2. Alice I Have Been by Melanie Benjamin
3. Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman
4. An Abundance of Katherines by John Green
5. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë

Jayme(the ghost reader) (JaymeILtheghostreader) 1)Catching Fire
2) The Sugar Queen
3) Julie and Julia
4) The Outcasts
5) Where The Heart Is

tenitavely

Bethany (b_shively) | 8 comments my next 5 are:

The Iron Daughter
The Hollow
The Red Pyramid
The Maze Runner
Mockingjay

at least those are the ones I plan to read next...I may have to squeeze a few others in depending on how quicly I read them!!

Richard (nemzep95) | 313 comments 1) The Maze Runner
2) The Looking Glass Wars
3) Seeing Redd
4) ArchEnemy
5) Hatter M

The last four are roughly a series. Hatter M is a side story of The Looking Glass Wars Trilogy. After those I'll read the The Mortal Instruments series and Vampire Academy Series.

I have been hearing good things about Poison Study and the Study series. I think I will add it to my TBR and give it a shot.

Emi | 1059 comments 1. The Maze Runner
2. Ilium (Its not YA, but I borrowed it from a friend and its been sitting on my shelf FOREVER so I figured I should probably get it back to her soon.)
3. The Telling Pool
4. For the Win
5. How to Train Your Dragon

I'm not sure they'll be read in that order, but those are just a few that are waiting on my shelf at the moment.

Amelia (Narknon) | 47 comments Hmm...my books waiting to be read might change a bit too, but here's what I think:

1. Peril's Gate
2. Traitor's Knot
3. Stormed Fortress
4. Mockingjay
5. The Way of Kings

The last two aren't published yet, so they may be bumped up a bit if they get published before I finish the others.

Stacia ~ Mistress of Mediocrity (Stacia_R) | 913 comments Jayme wrote: "5) Where The Heart Is"

I read this book many years ago and remember really liking it, but I really love the movie. Natalie Portman and Ashley Judd were perfect choices for the characters.

Colleen (blackrose13) | 167 comments Not necessarily in order:

1. Hunger Games
2. The 13th Reality, Vol. 1: The Journal of Curious Letters
3. Un Lun Dun
4. The Strange Adventures of Rangergirl
5. The Case of the Left-Handed Lady

One of these might get bumped once 'Maze Runner' gets in at the library, though.

Grayce | 10 comments 1. Finish City of Bones
2. The Maze Runner(If I get it from library)
3. The Dark Elf Trilogy Collector's Edition(exile- already read Homeland)
4. City of Ashes (might read before exile- depends on how City of Bones ends)
5. The Dark Elf Trilogy Collector's Edition(Sojourn)

City of Bones is amazing, and City of Ashes is amazing-er. There's twists all over, some of which make you go "WHATTTTT?!?!" others that make you go "OMG WTFFFF GOD DARN SON OF A POOPYCAKE" hell, a lot will make you do both!!!!

Sorry, I'm on my meds for my throat infection xD. No filter what-so-ever. Shoot me if you must, but aim for my head, cause a lot of people miss the head ;).

I think the best parts of that reply were "amazing-er" and "POOPYCAKE" - that is all.

Hillary (Eledri) | 616 comments lol I agree Michelle.

Anyway I think my list would go as follows:
1. Dreamfever because I started the damn series and cannot stop until I have read all that are out! argh...
2. Linger
3. The Hunger Games
4. The Maze Runner
5. Looking for Alaska

All is ALWAYS subject to change due to my ever changing mood. lol

btw, Im still stuck on "poopycake"...rofl

Emi | 1059 comments LOL @ Richard. I agreeeeeeeee. The twists in that book do want to make you yell POOPYCAKE!!!!! Especially when it comes to Jace and Clary. Those plot twists were so frustrating! I won't say any more because I don't want to spoil it though.

Jayme(the ghost reader) (JaymeILtheghostreader) Hillary,
I read both Hunger Games and Looking For Alaska. I liked them.

I want to read [book:Looking for Alaska|99561] too but I already picked up An Abundance of Katherines. I'm going to read it first and see if I like it. Everyone assures me I will. :)

Let me know what you think of Looking for Alaska.

message 18: by Jenny, Stealthy Swashbuckling Mod (new)

Jenny (narcisse) | 1432 comments I loved Looking for Alaska and really liked An Abundance of Katherines also. Katherines is more happy, funny and upbeat; Alaska is darker and sadder, with points of hilarity. I liked Alaska better because it had more substance to it.

Richard (nemzep95) | 313 comments I'm glad that y'all liked my medicated response :D. My throat is feeling much better today, although I'm still worn out.

This post is med-free, btw.

message 20: by Stacia ~ Mistress of Mediocrity (last edited Aug 02, 2010 12:21am) (new)

Stacia ~ Mistress of Mediocrity (Stacia_R) | 913 comments I may have to change my list up a bit...it looks like The Passage is going to take its sweet time coming in.

Incarceron was waiting for me at the library today, so that may take Passage's place.

Putting books on hold is starting to kill me. On a good week I read 2 to 3, but I request more than that and need to stop.

Stupid real life stuff to do is getting in the way of my reading addiction! (well that and sitting on goodreads at 1 in the morning when I could be reading). Pandora has been giving me good songs tonight though, so I hate to turn off the computer.

Richard (nemzep95) | 313 comments Haha I do the same thing! It also frustrates me when you request multiple books from a series, and the first one you need to read is the one that becomes available LAST. That's what's happening with me. I requested a trilogy (all books I'm #1 on the list) the first one is still unavailable, even though they have a newly acquired copy...and the other two are available for me to pick up.....it's frustratin'.

message 22: by Emi (last edited Aug 02, 2010 06:23am) (new)

Emi | 1059 comments I love listening to Pandora! They always seem to find the right songs to fit the mood I'm in. :3

I read Incarceron a few months ago. It's interesting, and really similar to The Maze Runner in plot, since its about characters escaping a maze. Even though I'm not finished with The Maze Runner, I feel like the it's much more solid in plot. There are some things in Incareron that didn't make sense to me, but maybe I just missed some details or something. After you finish it, tell me what you think! :P I won't say much more than this: It had an interesting twist in the end.

Because I usually grab my books at the used book store, I run into that problem too. I'll grab the first book in a series and then finish it only to go back and discover that they only have the third book in stock. Then I'm forced to either wait until it somebody brings it in, or just buy it new.

message 23: by Stacia ~ Mistress of Mediocrity (last edited Aug 02, 2010 08:25pm) (new)

Stacia ~ Mistress of Mediocrity (Stacia_R) | 913 comments The only thing that I find I'm not liking about Pandora is that they'll give you like 5 versions of a song on a channel.

Yay...it's the original, now it's the remix, now it's the extended version, now it's the live version...really? I had no idea that so many versions of the Numa Numa song existed.

At least you can thumbs down stuff to get rid of it.

message 24: by Richard (last edited Aug 02, 2010 08:50pm) (new)

Richard (nemzep95) | 313 comments I stopped using Pandora (can't remember why). Now I use Jango, which I absolutely and irrevocably love!!!!

EDIT: Just got back on Pandora and am in love again xD. Can you add friends on there?

Emi | 1059 comments Yeah, that's the problem with it. I like hearing the live/unplugged version of a song, but when they start playing the remixes then it gets kind of annoying. When that starts happening I just move to a different channel, since I don't have a paid subscription and have a limited number of "thumbs downs."

I've never heard of Jango before...I'll have to go check it out when I'm totally frustrated with Pandora next time. XD I'm not sure if you can add friends on Pandora. I think you can talk with other people on forums about music though.

message 26: by Stacia ~ Mistress of Mediocrity (last edited Aug 02, 2010 09:33pm) (new)

Stacia ~ Mistress of Mediocrity (Stacia_R) | 913 comments Yep. I keep making channels and swap back and forth, which works well, since I listen to a really broad range of music anyway.

You should be able to thumbs down as much as you want (which removes the song from that channel for next time), it's the fast forwarding that gets limited on mine.

Thread derailing. All the cool kids are doing it.

Richard (nemzep95) | 313 comments They limit the thumbs down? How many do you get? And Jango is the same as Pandora, the only difference being that Jango allows for unknown artists to add music and asks the listeners what they think of the music.

Stacia ~ Mistress of Mediocrity (Stacia_R) | 913 comments Ok, I guess they do limit the thumbs down if you're referring to how many times using thumbs down will skip a song for you.

After you do a bunch of thumbs down, the song will not skip anymore and continue to play - BUT it will still be taken off your playlist for next time.

Btw...we so need an off-topic folder for discussions about things other than books. Just sayin. ;P

message 29: by Jenny, Stealthy Swashbuckling Mod (new)

Jenny (narcisse) | 1432 comments I alternate between Pandora and Last.fm which gives me as many skips as I want whenever Pandora is trying to force me to listen to stuff that I don't want to.

Richard (nemzep95) | 313 comments Ohhhh okay!! That makes more sense. I was about to say: "WHAAAAATTTT??!!?!?!!?!??!?!?!?!?"

But now that I know the truth, that isn't necessary....

message 31: by Jenny, Stealthy Swashbuckling Mod (last edited Aug 03, 2010 12:19pm) (new)

Jenny (narcisse) | 1432 comments lol We have an off-topic folder, there's just nothing in it yet. I don't know how these hijackings keep happening! We're so ADD up in here.

Edit: I'm going to post stuff in every empty folder now so people will see them.

Jayme(the ghost reader) (JaymeILtheghostreader) How did we go from books to playlists?

message 33: by Stacia ~ Mistress of Mediocrity (last edited Aug 03, 2010 12:21pm) (new)

Stacia ~ Mistress of Mediocrity (Stacia_R) | 913 comments *whistles innocently* It wasn't me...I blame Emi. Yeah. Her.

Ok, when I find the folder I will post in it. I hate to use up general because we have other book topic threads in there.

Richard (nemzep95) | 313 comments Psht, who isn't ADD? ADD = Awesome Distracted Dreamers

Emi | 1059 comments Oh thanks, Stacia! I <3 you too. XD Since it's apprently my fault, I'll get us back ON TOPIC. ;P

My next five have changed since I last posted my list anyway.

1.) Ilium
2.) Marked
3.) Fire
4.) Disney after Dark
5.)The Telling Pool

Richard (nemzep95) | 313 comments Ohhh I want to read Marked, but I probably wont for a while... :(

Stacia ~ Mistress of Mediocrity (Stacia_R) | 913 comments Ok, Disney After Dark sounds interesting. I may have to check that out.

Emi | 1059 comments @Richard: Bummerrrrrr. That's why you gotta get working on finishing The Host! (So much to read, so little time.) It's been a while since I've read a good YA urban fantasy novel, and that one looks promising.

@Stacia: You might have to. ;D I'm a huge fan of the Disney theme parks, and once I read the back of the book I had to take it home. I'm hoping it's a fun read. What kid wouldn't want to get stuck in Disney after dark? To me that'd be a dream come true.

Richard (nemzep95) | 313 comments Yeahh I need too. Lately I've just constantly been exhausted. I managed to barely read two chapters last night. It was exciting, but I was having trouble concentrating, so I had to stop :(. I think it's the sickness..

Phair (SPhair) | 15 comments These were in the last batch I bought for the library and I hope to get to read myself eventually:

The Affinity Bridge and the next in the series is on order: The Osiris Ritual
Epitaph Road
Worldshaker
The Gardener
The Clone Codes
Girl in the Arena

If I didn't have to work I could get a lot more reading done!

Emi | 1059 comments @Richard: Sounds like it. :( I hope you feel better soon!

@ Sandra: Ooh, I read Worldshaker. It was a fun steampunk novel. I liked the idea of everyone living on a gigantic land-ship!

Richard (nemzep95) | 313 comments Emi - thanks, I'm going to try and sleep a lot, maybe that will help. Blarghhh. The stress that's going on now doesn't help it haha.

message 43: by Stacia ~ Mistress of Mediocrity (last edited Aug 04, 2010 08:47pm) (new)

Stacia ~ Mistress of Mediocrity (Stacia_R) | 913 comments I found these 3 within the past 24 hours that might have to be bumped up the list soon.

Grimspace (Sirantha Jax, #1) (I scrolled down and laughed at Felicia Day's review on this one put it on my list) Sci-fi romance

City of Dreams and Nightmare on another GR forum - YA Sci-fi

Shade (Shade, #1) Ghosties

Richard (nemzep95) | 313 comments I just got like 100 free e-books from Barnes and Noble, including 10 or so classics. I'm uber excited :D:D:D:D.

Richard (nemzep95) | 313 comments Uhhh, well I'm happy to please.... Ha! Countered your creepy statement with an even creepier one!

message 49: by [deleted user] (last edited Aug 05, 2010 02:52am) (new)

I had to tweak my next five due to library availability. Also because I just finished Wizard's First Rule and started An Abundance of Katherines (which I'm finding delightful).

1. Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman
2. The Luxe by Anna Godbersen
3. Are You There Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea by Chelsea Handler
4. The Maze Runner by James Dashner
5. The Vampire Diaries: The Awakening by L.J. Smith
