1032120 Have you seen the previews for the new show on Fox called "Fringe"?

What do you think? Planning on watching?

message 2: by Angie (new)

86285 I haven't seen any previews... what is it about?

message 3: by Crystal (new)

1032120 Check out this preview and let me know what you think?

622853 Isn't this the new show from the creators of LOST?

message 5: by Crystal (last edited Jun 29, 2008 12:58AM) (new)

1032120 I'm not sure but it looks really interesting. I hope that it holds my interest. I have a problem with shows not keeping my interest after ahile. It happened with House, Lost, and a few more shows that I used to watch.

message 6: by Angie (new)

86285 The nice thing is usually FOX gives new shows a chance and doesn't cancel them after one episode.

86285 This is what I found on it:
When an international flight lands at Boston's Logan Airport with no signs of life, FBI Special Agent OLIVIA DUNHAM (Anna Torv) is called in to investigate as part of an inter-agency task force. After her partner, Special Agent JOHN SCOTT (Mark Valley), is nearly killed during the investigation, a desperate Olivia searches frantically for someone to help, leading her to DR. WALTER BISHOP (John Noble), our generation's Einstein. There's only one catch: he's been institutionalized for the last 17 years, and the only way to question him requires pulling his estranged son PETER (Joshua Jackson) in to help.

When Olivia's investigation leads to multi-billion dollar corporation Massive Dynamic and its manipulative corporate executive, NINA SHARP (Blair Brown), our unlikely trio, along with Department of Homeland Security Agent PHILLIP BROYLES (Lance Reddick) and FBI Agents CHARLIE FRANCIS (Kirk Acevedo) and ASTRID FARNSWORTH (Jasika Nicole), will discover that what happened on Flight 627 is only a small piece of a larger, more shocking truth.

1410203 I will be tuning in for this one. I also lost interest in LOST and Heroes...Heroes went downhill big time last season and LOST just moved WAY too slowly for me. I know they have a series finale date set, which means they will accomplish more...I will probably watch this series on DVD one day when it is all done.

687549 Loved the pilot! I think I will keep following this one.

message 10: by Liz (new)

1472632 I think I need to give it more time. Not sure if I like it.

message 11: by Holli (last edited Sep 10, 2008 02:08PM) (new)

622853 Oh my god I loved this show last night. Honestly...I'm thinking it may become my fave show this year. Loved the storyline, the characters, (Dr. Bishop is fantastic) and the writing is perfect I think. I will definitely be following this one!!

message 12: by Faith (new)

652801 i liked the premiere but i am not sure if am hooked on the show yet. although the twist at the end REALLY got me and i have to say i did NOT see it coming! so had no idea! and if you ever watched a movie or show with me you know i always figure it out!

so that twist on the end sort of reeled me in more than the rest of the show! it was fun to be totally surprised! i am excited to see more!

message 13: by Heather (new)

323991 I loved it! It's set to record from now on!

message 14: by teri (new)

10818 My husband was telling me about this one. He said it was written so that people could tune in at any point and not be -- literally -- LOST, as on the other show. I guess many people were discouraged from watching Lost because of that factor. I'm glad to hear the first show was good. I have it on Tivo but haven't watched it yet.

message 15: by Holli (new)

622853 You are going to love it Teri....I guarantee it :) Watch it soon so we can talk about it!

message 16: by Ed (new)

687549 I loved it and loved the twist. I've read the shows after the pilot are even better. Great new show...hope it lasts...reminds me of x files.

message 17: by CC (new)

1520557 I love it! And the fact that it does have that certain X-Files only with out the aliens is very appealing.

What did anyone think of the grahics, esp the text. Very JJ Abrams style no?

message 18: by Angie (new)

86285 I watched this show from my TIVO last night and loved it. I really liked how it was an xfiles type story. I hope the show stays in this direction. I liked the text that went across the screen. I usually like JJ Abrams work.

message 19: by Jim (new)

670790 Ditto on the last comment. Hooray-I have a new show to watch this year.

message 20: by Manuel (new)

1008237 Interesting show.
Seems pretty self contained. I hate episodic shows where you have to tune in every week to pick up the story thread.

A lot like X-Files.

message 21: by Allen (new)

623239 Its intriguing. A bit campier than expected, but eh definitely not the worst thing I could be watching.

message 22: by Jim (new)

670790 This wasn't my favorite episode, but I enjoyed variety on The Fringe.

332925 Allen, yes, it is a bit campy... but not unenjoyable.

It's kind of a conspiracy theorist (X-Files of the 2000's) meets a toned-down Alias, but with that familial twist.

I like all the different personal threads of the characters, but also that if you come in in the middle you can get the jest of their issues without having to have watched all the episodes.

I do think the show wouldn't be much without Joshua Jackson's character. We need that personalization of Walter, the interplay with Olivia, and the inner struggles we see on his face as well as played out. Otherwise it'd be too disconnected and "driven."

message 24: by Ed (new)

687549 really like this show and true blood.

message 25: by Allen (new)

623239 I realized the other day that this show reminds me of Threshold alot. That didn't last either, and the initial ratings for this were way lower than expected(although the network was hoping Abrams was going make it comparable to Lost).

message 26: by Faith (new)

652801 i have to admit i stopped watching. it is too serious and dark. i like that but i need a mingling of laughter dispersed here and there. a little humor, not so serious all the time, no one even smiles unless it is to sneer in the show. i believe there was only one attempt at a jokes since the show started. i had the last two episodes recorded and i just didn't want to watch them, i kept putting it off until i was half way through the second to last and realized i didn't care. it meant nothing to me if the son stayed, i say he should have hightailed it out of there as fast as he could get his legs to go. at that point i took the show off of my DVR, i do hope it has a following but i just don't see myself picking it up again until a little more humanity is put in.

message 27: by Jim (new)

670790 Faith, I agree in part.

Last nights show was a good episode.

message 28: by Trudy (new)

1036503 I really wanted to give this show a chance (Joshua Jackson is one of my all time favs), but I really couldn't get into it. I never was an X Files fan, so I guess I am not overly surprised that I can't do it... not even for my Joshua - lol...

message 29: by Jamie (new)

1518370 i recently just watched all the episodes so now i'm caught up..i'm enjoying it so far.

message 30: by Ky (new)

11600 The father is the best character, the lead is a bore.

message 31: by Holli (new)

622853 The father is terrific....he's the part I love! The rest of the characters...eh.

message 32: by Angie (new)

86285 The butterfly episode was crazy! I would be so scared especially since we are so used to butterflies being soft.

message 33: by Jamie (new)

1518370 ew that butterfly part grossed me out..i'm surprised i didn't have nightmares about being ripped apart by butterflies!

message 34: by Angie (new)

86285 This show doesn't come back until April.... that is such a long wait!

message 35: by Liz (new)

1181304 One strange show! I watched two, just couldn't stomach any more yukky things coming out of or being done to bodies. But, I will agree, the father character makes it all worth watching ... ;o)

message 36: by Angie (new)

86285 This show will be back in the fall but they are moving it to Thursdays up against the office. I don't think it will have any problems there though since they are totally different shows. What do you think of her being in a different reality?

message 37: by Gene (last edited May 21, 2009 08:29PM) (new)

575738 i am totally addicted, check out http://www.fringebloggers.com you will find every episode reviewed and clues that were found, news and updates, clips its a great site for all the Fringe Lovers out there. my favorite gross episode was the first one with the guy on the plane turning into a skeleton, cool stuff

message 38: by Holli (new)

622853 I love the alternate reality aspect and i really hope they do great things with that next season!

message 39: by Angie (new)

86285 I love that there are really no commercials. No need to TIVO this show!

message 40: by Holli (new)

622853 I like that too but I heard Fox isn't going to continue that again next season..... :(

message 41: by Myra (new)

1374822 My problem with it moving to Thursdays is that it will be opposite Supernatural. I will have to watch one and tape the other.

I really like Fringe, and I look forward to more Leonard Nimoy next fall!

message 42: by Gene (new)

575738 i just hope that Greys anatomy and Fringe do not fall on the same day bc i will have to watch two at once, oh well

message 43: by Kat (new)

1259447 I came in a few episodes before the season finaly, but I LOVE it! Walter & Olivia are my favorite!

message 44: by Gene (new)

575738 i like that younger guy what is his name???, he was in the movie mighty ducks...............

message 45: by Kat (new)

1259447 Gene wrote: "i like that younger guy what is his name???, he was in the movie mighty ducks..............."

The character is Peter Bishop, the actor is Joshua Jackson.

message 46: by Gene (new)

575738 oh yeah thats right how can i forget i am so addicted to this show that i forgot the name

thanks Kat

message 47: by Kelley (new)

1066863 I love the characters on this show and the mix of humor and horror. One thing I like is that the main female character looks like a normal chick and not like a Barbie doll.

message 48: by Myra (new)

1374822 Did anyone see tonight's repeat show? It was the one just before the finale. They're getting us all ready for the season premiere in a couple of weeks. Anyway, they did a "tweet-peat" with the producers, and a couple of the stars tweeting while the show was on, and they showed the tweets at the bottom of the picture on tv. It was fun, but it was on opposite the season finale repeat of Supernatural, so if they're on at the same time come the new season, I'm not going to be happy!

message 49: by Allen (new)

623239 Just got caught up on the last two eps. Still not sure how I feel about where its goin... And I am still a bit disappointed about Charlie...

I also thought it was cute where, in the last ep, the seaplane almost hits a ferry, but seaplanes use Lake Union as a runway, and ferries are only in the Sound(I live in Seattle).

message 50: by Kelley (new)

1066863 It's still keeping my interest, but I will be disappointed if they don't answer some of the things they are alluding to.
I didn't like what happened to Charlie either and I still don't understand why they are keeping her alive if she has been to the other reality. Maybe they want to see how much she knows.
