575738 feels more like poetry than a first paragraph

message 1076: by Gene (new)

575738 this makes me sad, really sad, just not a good feeling inside of me, but not too bad

message 1075: by Marley (new)

1715064 I broke all my mother's dishes yesterday. I am confined in my room as I remember the sound they made smashing against the wall. It always seems people never get your point even when they say they want to understand you. My mom wanted me to open up, but when I did, she only accused me. I wanted to make her listen, so, I made her hear broken glass, wedding china smashed to the ground. And left her in tears, now she can understand how it feels to be broken to bits.

message 1074: by Gene (new)

575738 yeah, thats my motto, but that writing was not to bad but i didnt understand about the whole window thing, but good effort....hey practice makes perfect..

message 1073: by Lela (new)

991609 yes of course. No one wants to catch on fire. Eeek. That would be scary!!!

message 1072: by Gene (new)

575738 it is not like i experienced fire at all, i just want to prevent the experience

message 1071: by Lela (new)

991609 ah, it all begins to make sense :O

message 1070: by Gene (new)

575738 i am just scared of fire thats all

message 1069: by Lela (new)

991609 well they've become my kinda like comfort object lately. Like a comfort food only it's a scent thing I guess and I like watching the flame.

message 1068: by Gene (new)

575738 i dont really like candles

message 1067: by Lela (new)

991609 yeah, wasn't my best. It was kinda dull. Um, i think there are but I don't have one. I've seen them before though.

message 1066: by Gene (last edited Oct 08, 2009 09:17PM) (new)

575738 not too bad, are there candles with a fresh grass scent? just curious

message 1065: by Lela (new)

991609 The sun was warm against my shoulders and neck and I wondered if it's possible to tan through a window. Probably not but it still felt great. If it weren't for the stack of homework I'd be outside enjoying the weather but if I couldn't go to the sun, the sun would have to come to me. Through the window. I lit a candle that was fresh grass scented and began my homework. It wasn't so bad really. In fact, I was almost sad when people began to arrive for the party. I could have sat in front of the window all day.

message 1064: by Lela (new)

991609 that's cool!

575738 As i approached the yellow tape that had been placed surrounding a house, i could feel my heart pounding rapidly. Unlike most of the scenes that i have investigated this was one of the most horrific ones. As i pulled the tape over my head, i could smell a gruesome stench, which was familiar to me. The house was just a mess, with blood splatter on the walls and scattered shell casings on the walls and floors. As i stood there looking at the scene, an officer approached me and informed me that i needed to investigate rather quickly due to the fact that the body would removed in a short period of time. i acted quickly, making notes of the scene, collected some shell casings and took some pictures. As i stood there in a kneeled position, i noticed a figure looking at me at the end of the room in the hallway. As soon as i stood up and shined my flashlight mounted on a handgun, it quickly moved away.

991609 "Don't smile Jake it's not funny."
But he smiled anyways, "You and Alex? That totally IS funny!"
"Get over yourself. We're just friends. Amanda was just making stuff up."
His eyebrow shot up in a sarcastic attitude, "Sure she was..."
I made a point of groaning loudly letting him know that we had exhausted the subject and I turned into my trig class. "See ya Jake." He waved and i let the door close behind me. Alex smiled at me from across the room and nodded to a seat by him that I was soon sitting in. Then he took my hand in his and gave it a comforting squeeze.
"Jake bothering you?"

2002278 Lips parted in a silent scream, one that would never reach the air around her, lidded eyes parted from there slumbering state, and soon lips twisted into a smile as if amused by it all by, by waking each morning only to stare wide-eyed into the darkness of night.

message 1060: by Lela (new)

991609 GROSS! Get me out of this film please! That's what I was thinking...but i said nothing. Instead I buried my head into my hands and that's when he put his arm around me, "Are you alright Leeanne?"

"Oh, yeah, i'm...I'm fine." I was somewhat flustered, what was everyone else going to think if I let him leave his arm there? And then I realized I really didn't care what they thought. I put my head against his chest and leaned against him thinking the movie was getting better already.

627841 I love that part of Life in D Minor!! It's so neat to read about someone's first experience with a musical instrument. He seems so excited. :)

909992 Something from Life in D Minor:

With that going through my head, I began to follow an impulse I didn't even know I had. I picked at the guitar, and a beautiful note rang out again. I smiled, and before I knew it, my fingers were flying across the strings. I didn't know what I was doing, but I didn't care. I loved the sounds that were coming out of that small body, the sounds that my fingers were somehow triggering. To anyone else, my playing would have probably sounded like a bunch of nonsense banging; but to me, it sounded like a whole symphony of music.

I had never enjoyed anything as much as I was enjoying creating the music; not even drawing had made me feel that way. Only such an amazing thing as the guitar could have made me be like that.

I could have gone on forever; I didn't want to stop. And I wouldn't have stopped playing if it wasn't for the interruption.

I don't know how much time had passed; to my young brain, it felt like an eternity. But it was probably only a few minutes that went by before I heard it.

The unmistakable sound of a key being pushed into a lock reverberated loudly through the store.

My fingers froze on the strings, and my body stiffened with fear. My heart appeared to explode, drumming wildly and uncontrollably against my chest. Sweat broke out across my face, and I started to shake.

Someone was coming in. I was going to get caught!

My brain snapped into focus. Clearing away the haze of panic and hysteria, I quickly slipped the guitar off my lap and set it gently on the ground. Then, I leaped up and searched desperately for some kind of hiding place. My eyes fell on a large stereo-system in the corner, and I darted behind it and pressed myself against the ground. At that point, I was so nervous that my heart was seemingly in my mouth.

627841 Your character sounds like one happy camper, Allie. LOL :)

Here's another teaser from the Reawakened Soul sequel:

Do you believe that just over an hour ago I was fighting with the devil and am now relaxing on my couch with my feet up?

Life is crazy.

Who knew this much stuff could happen in one day?

First I escape from a “school”, and then I help fight off bad people. I run back to my apartment. Offer my life up to save my friends. And then now, I’m chilling on my couch!

Just one small problem.

How am I going to get my friends back?

I can’t just walk up to Lucifer—as if I could find him!—and say, “Yo, dude, you like totally kidnapped my friends, and I, uh, would like, really, really like them back. So like, yeah, can you like un-kidnap them for me?”

He’d probably laugh at me and tell me to get more sleep. And then he’d say something like, “Stop watching those cartoons! People don’t actually talk like that!”

As if. Some of them do.

And don’t deny it. You know you know someone who talks like that.

And no, it is not me!

2383119 From one of my stories from my anthology. I haven't titled it yet or even finished it, but I'm gettin there.
I made my way into Sydney, Loper, and Prime. My idiot landlord, who had said that after he bought the building we wouldn’t need to pay rent, was trying to evict me on account of the fact that I hadn’t paid. For Christ’s sake, he told me. And where was I supposed to come up with $50,000 in back rent? I was working as a waitress during the day, and trying to get into whatever theatre, musical or otherwise, that I could. In other words, I was a Bohemian.
My name’s Kate, by the way. Kate Oak. Nice to meet you. I’m seventeen, living on my own, dirt broke, and utterly pissed. I have one real friend, Ashley, who lives with her fiancé, Devon. Other than her, I'm alone.
I haven't had a boyfriend since I graduated high shcool when I was 16. I graduated early because I skipped second grade. Ever since, it's been just me. Mom and Dad hate my career choice, so we don't talk much. So, yeah, that's me. Oh, and my favorite color's green. Just thought you'd like to know.

991609 "Ew! Ew! I can't believe you said that!"
Ryan laughed, "Ah Becky, you're so funny. I love you."
She smiled but did not return the complement, "You REALLY said that to a girl on a date?" Ryan's lips curved up in a naughty smile and Becky shook her head, "I am never going on a date with you. You're terrible."
"Ah shucks Becky, I was trying to get RID of her. I won't do that to you."
"I wouldn't let you." She warned.
"So it's a date." He said casually, "Let's make it Saturday and I'll pick you up at five, we'll go to dinner and a movie or something."
"Whoa, what are you talking about Ryan? We didn't agree to go out." She said, taken a back.
"I gotta prove I'm an okay guy." He replied cooly, "Don't be difficult Becky. I'll get you at five. Don't forget." With that he got in his car and drove off.

909992 heehee thankies :D

ooh lookie!! something from the story i just started. XD

The girl tries once more, with renewed strength. She smacks her hands against the bars again and again, harder and harder. Her breathing becomes labored and ragged, uneven, panting. She hits with even more force, as if she is trying to get out, to escape - to make the bars break, to have them disappear.

Her fingers begin to bleed, red spilling onto white. But she does not stop.

She continues to pound, until, eventually, she realizes it is no use. Finally, she gives up and halts her beating. She slowly tears her bloody hands away from the bars. A moment later, her arms flail wildly, and she sinks to her knees, her forehead pushed onto the iron.

"Please," she whispers to nobody. Her voice is hoarse and croaky with disuse. "Please ...help ...me." It is a struggle for her to get each word out. The syllables are raspy and short of breath.

Nobody listens. No one is around to hear. She is alone.

909992 Awesomeful part from Outcast....(at least I think so...teehee ><)

She stepped forward timidly, and cleared her throat. When she spoke, her voice was weak and feeble. “Who are you?”

Now that she was closer to her, Lavender felt like she should know who this woman was. She looked vaguely, distantly, remotely familiar...just barely. But something was tugging on the edge of Lavender's consciousness, a tiny bell ringing somewhere in the far, murky distance in the back of her mind. She felt almost as though...as though she recognized this woman. But how was that possible?

The woman looked at Lavender with a mixture of sadness and something else- was that love? “I am Mother Nature,” she announced calmly, strongly. Her words rang through the clearing with power and strength. They were pretty, light and musical, almost like she was singing. Her voice was like chimes of a bell, notes of a flute.

Lavender gaped at her with shock, not comprehending. Her mind wasn't able to grasp what this woman meant. She didn't even seem to be able to understand the words, as though they were a different language. Yet somewhere in the dark, distant depths of her thoughts, she knew it was English. And she knew she understood the words perfectly well. She just couldn't register them through her brain.

Lavender was not prepared at all for the next words that danced from the woman's mouth.

“I am also your mother.”

Something else from Outcast (heehee):

“Stop talking to me. You're annoying.”

Lavender scowled. A burst of anger shot through her. To her surprise, there was also hurt flashing around her insides. She cast around for a snappy retort, and came up with, “You should take a look at yourself!”

A cocky smirk touched Caleb's lips. “I do look at myself,” he grinned. “And I only find perfection there.”

She stared at him, wondering if he was joking. But his face was completely serious. It seemed like he really thought he was oh-so-wonderful.

Wow. Really? Caleb was that conceited and full of himself? That was pathetic. Lavender found herself losing respect for him.

“You need to check your definition of perfection,” she shot back. “Either that, or you're looking at something else.” It felt weird saying that, when she thought otherwise...whoa, wait. Where did that come from?

Caleb laughed. “My amazingness is just too huge for you to comprehend.”

She groaned at his obnoxiousness. “Uh, no,” she growled firmly.

“Yup. You're just too embarrassed to admit that my attractiveness and good looks are making you want me.”

Lavender's jaw clenched. She hated him so much! She couldn't stand how self-obsessed and arrogant he was, and how he thought he knew everything. “Oh, please,” she snorted, her eyes flashing with fury. “Give me a break.”

“You know it's true.”

“In your dreams.”
