((i guess Debal is feeling really good right now so he felt like preening a bit, cos he got the angel and Tom))

Avery was lying face down in the pool, he was awake and thinking of how he could get out, he had a crazy plan at the back of his mind to jump the guard and storm the cells and free everyone and maybe kill the crazy doctor guy and go back to his sane world. He swore quietly, wondering how long he could fake unconsciousness cos ...well he didn't seem to be going anywhere with this plan.

Suddenly he became aware that the guard was speaking to somebody, he listened as well as he could, the guard spoke in pauses, like he was answering another person. Avery couldn't hear the other person so he assumed he was on a phone/communication unit.

"the subject is in the pool" pause

"Stan... coming over" pause

"yes" pause

"Can do Dr.Grevin" pause

"uhuh" pause

Avery made a sudden dash to the edge of the pool and sploshed to the side. He kept the pool between him and the guard and ran down the long vestibule without any sense of direction.

((bonding circles naturally block out any possible form of energy to circulate through a being, so it's a little unlikely for any of the three to communicate just yet. But don't worry, Tom's a thief after all.))

((What's with that? He didn't really seem like the type to just start babbling like that...lets see, where are we going with this?and whatever happened with the strange thing where Tom heard Legan's thoughts back in the underground city? Cause if they could figure that out, it would come in really handy at this point. you know, the whole 'as the enemy grows so must we' thing.))

Tom was rolled into a small room, with plain white walls and a small table to the side that he saw gleamed with medical instruments lined neatly in rows. Next to them was the professor that he had seen at the pool.
"Ah, the escapee from Jack, Thomas Cove. I was so hoping to meet you, Zach has often spoken of you as his closest friend and his only equal. It excited me a great deal to finally meet you, I am professor Debal." He bowed lowly to Tom, who could already tell that this event was not going to end well.

"Wait... you know Zach?" Tom asked confusedly.
Debal smiled with pride and nodded. "The most amazing patient I have ever known. He was an anomaly in living, breathing form. He could sense the powers of demons nearby, tap into their souls and understand everything. As a boy he was terrified of his gift. Thinking it a curse of all things! I won't bore you with the details of course. But I had enhanced his body to be able to in fact control the mind of demons. A swarth of demons to be bent to the will of our group." Debal smiled, a glint of madness sparking in his dark blue eyes. They were quickly extinguished though when he continued sadly. "All was so well... I had truly thought that we had found the final piece to the puzzle... the final piece that would free us from our bonds of humanity. But it was not to be when he ran off in a haze of madness. Thinking us to be evil and corrupt." The professor shook his head. "Soon we had to begin making protection for our demon hordes, protecting them from a new group known as Jack... while our powers decreased by a landslide they flew to the moon with Zachariah and his group. Many of the members were not as blessed as Bane thought they were, so we had to change several things to make them better. I had been greatly disappointed when they didn't report you amongst the captives..." Debal sighed.
"But everything is going to change now. With the final piece to the puzzle in our grasp we can continue with operations as planned!" The professor cackled gleefully.

((...Avery was thrown into a pool... That doesn't make much sense to me. I thought Dr. Grevin was to have Avery.))

When Tom came to, he found himself strapped to a trolley, being carried by two natives. He remained quiet and struggled quietly against the straps.

Avery was thrown into the pool, being an excellent swimmer, luckily he didn't drown and floated unconscious for a second. The guard kept watch waiting for him to wake so he could stun him again.

Emberlynn was brought her lunch, she had a strange sensation of pain even though she was not in pain herself. She couldn't eat. She meditated.

"Neurological signals rising slowly..." The scratching of pen against paper continued. "In so many ways, you and the demonic summons of the world differ greatly. You have faster reflexes, more control over your strengths than most demons. It's quite admirable really, it makes you want me to peruse further... but I'm afraid that I must be on my way, Turliven will be sure that you are made comfortable and will bring you your meals." Debal nodded to the hulking giant that was just coming inside the door. As the professor passed he whispered to him, "Make sure to give him 2 grams of the dose. I'll have Jenine collar him later." And with that the professor left, leaving Legan with his jailer. Several hours of excruciating pain had done nothing for Legan's strength and he felt weak beyond comprehension anymore. I hope Tom and Avery are faring better, He prayed silently.

((Wow, that's a lot to take in! I'll try to come up with something!))
Numbness swept through Legan like a cool river, washing away all the pain in his body. Outside the binding circle he heard Dubal's voice murmering to himself and occasionally a pen scratching out something on paper.
Legan couldn't move, and suddenly the numbness was replaced by searing in his arm. There was a slash across the skin, exposing the muscles in his shoulder.
"So, you've woken up again? Intriguing." The researcher raised his voice enough that Legan could hear.
Legan's mind was running so quickly that he didn't even hear Dubal. He had to get out of this ring and find Tom and Avery.

((wait wait wait... what just happened?))

Legan was drowning in a sea of pain, his nerves seemed to be on fire that burned with a searing white flame. In self-defense his vital force immediately summoned a shield around his imperiled demi-mortal form. He felt himself hiding inside a shell that seemed to grow hotter and more painful as Debal was turning up the switches on the rune machine like a child with a new toy. As always he found himeself summoning his guardian spirit, he almost despaired he couldn't reach the altar of the eternal source in time.

He lost consciousness, partly due to the pain he was in and partly due to being in the radiant presence (as in some powerful energy source). Soon, he was given a vision...he saw his angel self in combat with an arch enemy, the nemesis that had brought him to earth. He had had to answer a mortal's summons only because he knew that it would lead him to the one demon that had escaped retribution when the cards had been dealt out in the last great war. He knew the demon would make himself known soon, and he was waiting to send it back to eternal damnation. He had volunteered for this mission and he was going to succeed, and Debal was just going to lose...

Legan became awake

((...bored again, so I'll continue.))
Legan looked at him in disgust. "You're an abomination," he spat.
"Hardly, I am perfectly human, more so than you could ever hope to be," Debal's smiled widened further. "Does it look as though I struck a nerve? It seems that angels are also capable of having a temper." The needle punctured Legan's arm, vacuuming up golden blood from his veins. Legan hissed in pain and tried desperately to pull away.
"Hm... it seems that angels don't hold nearly as much blood as demons do. Hopefully you remain conscious for this next part." Debal turned away and headed back to the table, sorting through his medical instruments.

((alright, I'm waaay too impatient.))

"Pull the summoned out of the water, I'll work with him now. Take the stupid one to a cell and let Grevin work on him. I'll take the other one," Debal ordered as he tossed the stun gun back to the guard. "And be a little more careful with your guns."

Legan's body was tingling painfully, his mind was a whirl of images and lights. What had happened? He recalled diving into water... then pain and darkness. He decided that it would be best if he opened his eyes. Slowly he cracked one open to find himself looking into a glaring light.
"Oh splendid, you're awake!" Professor Debal's figure came into view, shadowing the light from view.
"W..Where am I?" Legan croaked, his senses beginning to awaken.
"Again with foolish questions. Don't you think the answer is obvious, creature? I find it incredible that Jack was able to summon such a high ranking demi-god such as yourself. Quite fascinating really," He smiled and turned around, walking back to a table where Legan was able to catch several glimpses of blinking metal. "Demons are so simple, same functions as humans almost. At least the ones I've studied that is."

The angel glanced around him, finding himself laying inside of a circle with dark red runes surround him. A binding circle, a powerful one at that.
"How in the world were you able to create a binding circle?" Legan asked in shock.
Debal sighed, "Again with the idiotic questions. Your companion was much smarter, for sure. I think I will enjoy getting acquainted with him," The professor smiled. "Don't worry angel, I will only be running a few tests on you for some experiments. Perhaps you aren't that different from your opposite demons?" He mused more to himself than to his patient. Legan felt his body lift from the ground, the air pulling him, shaping him, until he was in a horizontal position as if on a table. He struggled desperately against the invisible bonds that held him, but it was to no avail.
"You can't be human to be able to control a binding circle, let alone create one. What are you?" Legan demanded in horror as the professor approached him calmly.
"Finally an educated query," Debal smiled. "Yes, you are right in your deductions. My mother was a very talented summoner who had summoned a powerful demon. As you should know the bonds go deeper than simple life. It will delve deep into the soul of summoned and summoner. They fell in love and so..." he gestured to himself. "Quite well done don't you agree?" He asked with a smile.

"You know angel... the guards are the least of your worries in this place," Professor Debal said softly. "You should have kept your distance when you could have," In a blurred motion, Legan was thrown back into the pool, landing with a splash. Debal slid a stun gun from one of the guards holsters and shoved into the water, pulling the trigger.

"Legan! No!" Tom called, beginning to move for the pool. A guard ran up behind him and hit him with the butt of his gun, knocking Tom into darkness.

((okie okie))

Tom was too far to react, he raged in silence while Avery made a lunge at the guard nearest the doctor. The guard, however, was already putting his stun gun back after having zapped Avery with it. As Avery lay unconscious on the floor, Legan held the professor in a lightning fast move. He turned towards the guards and signalled them to group in a line.

Tom pulled the gun holster off a guard and pushed them all to where they could keep an eye on them

((ok, now we are here, back to just making conversation and the story not going anywhere))

"Oh? You're really in no position to be asking questions of me. Of course you don't ask the right questions either."
"You've been watching us since we got onto the mowed grass around this pool haven't you?" Avery querried.
The professor (whose name I've already forgotten) sighed dramatically. "That question was even more rediculous than the last one. Are you honestly a fool enough to believe I carry a vid screen with me just so I can watch the security cameras?"
"Where are you holding all the Jack members?" This was Tom, blunt and getting directly to the point.
"Ah- just as I thought." The doctor nodded smugly to himself as if he had been guessing which one of them would ask the question he was expecting. He gestured with one of his hands. Suddenly Avery, Tom and Legan were surrounded by guards.
((Remember that this means the professor is in the circle of guards too because Legan came up behind him))

((uh... I don't really know what to do right now...))

He was met with silence, as the three 'visitors' looked at him with varying degrees of resentment. Legan appeared behind the doctor and said,"Did you really think you could get away with all this?"

"Well well well, I'd heard you'd broken in, but I hadn't expected you to be relaxing at the pool. This is truly intriguing." The doctor stepped through the door and into the sunlight. "You're here to rescue your friends aren't you? How quaint."

Legan was riding the water, he didn't get wet which was bizarre.

Tom said, "So he doesn't seem to care," he pointed at Legan and shrugged. Avery smiled and said,"hey just imagine a pool on cannibal island!".

They heard a door opening with a whoosh, it was surprising how nicely put up this prison was, Bern sure had a lot of dollars to throw around.

((well, somebody released cannibals on them so if you want to go somewhere with that. Or get captured, or meet a couple of guards.

He agreed.

"There's something wrong with all this." Avery said looking around after he pulled his still dripping shirt back over his head.
Legan nodded and Tom asked, "So where do you suppose all the guards would be at inside a prison, lounging around the pool? I imagine they're at places like the entrences and cell blocks and such."

They found themselves in an open space like a Spanish hacienda, there was a small structure to one side. Avery looked in from the window and saw a pool. They went in and washed off the blood, curious that no guards came oevr to stop them.

"You two reek, I would have helped you know," Legan told them as he examined their bloodied clothes disdainfully.
"yeah, well, I'm not one for patience and Avery was acting like a girl," Tom replied, trying futilely to wipe the blood of his shirt.
Legan only grunted and turned back to the building.
"There's security all over the place, I'm quite sure that they've seen us by now."

Avery and Tom spilled all the blood they could on the surrounding vines, and quickly made their way up the fence and dropped on the other side

((what? no... since blood is a liquid it's easy for any living organism to digest easily. So I suspect that they would have a matter of minutes to get through the fence without being killed.))

((or maybe the real blood itself is like vine poison, cos the vine needs to change it first before it ingests its prey, so it takes long..?? *waggles eyebrows* ))

((yay cool..maybe a sense dampener, cos it is too much so the vines can't make out the objects ))

((I also have no idea why that was done... um... perhaps the liquid of the blood covers the wires and keeps it busy and it can't feel any other physical contact so that Avery and Tom can wade their way through, as long as they move among the blood covered wires though.))

(Why did they have to cut it open? I thought they just had to go under it without touching any of the wires hanging down around it or that were wrapped around it. That's pretty nasty.))

Avery climbed up on Tom's hands and sliced his way through the boar's underbelly, warm blood dripped down and lots of slimy stuff fell out...the tendrils were clearly beginning to burn their way through...there wasn't much time..

"Hey!"
Tom pushed him again. "It just now died, it's not as if it's putrid. We have to get past this fence without touching it or we'll look like that pig there, so we'll use him for a shield. So go!"
Averylooked at the dead boar, suspended a few feet from the ground by the fence's silvery tendrils. "Why do I have to go first?"
Tom shook his head and got down on his hands and knees to crawl under the boar. "Maybe because you're supposed to be the adult here." he suggested.

Avery shook off Tom's grip, and said,"ok k I will come with you, but don't make me touch it."

Tom said,"Oh yeah! well you are in for a surprise then.." and he gave Avery a shove from behind

"Yes--you--are!" Tom growled forcfully.

((go figure eh?))
"are you joking? I'm not going near that!" Avery protested as Tom grabbed his arm and started to drag him towards the fence line.

Both of their heads snapped around when a sceram echoed through the dense foliage. To their left the scari fence loomed, and caught in it was a huge boar, struggling aginst the wires it was caught in. It stopped screaming and went limp as the electric current flowing through the wires stopped the animal's heart.
"There's our way in." Tom muttered grimly.

((Sorry I didn't log on in the last few days guys! I was busy with early thanksgiving and family comming over and all that stuff! So lets see about this story!))

((haha! I wish... Not likely though. I've had to cut down on the juices because of other groups on goodreads. And The previous writers that were helping on this one seems to have died or something.))
