Geoffrey (Geoffreys) | 525 comments The run off ended in a 5-5 tie so I unilaterally declare that the theme for this month is 'Parallel Worlds'. It's now time for nominations and then we vote ...

Nominees
Stardust by Neil Gaiman
Lord Loss by Darren Shan
The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde
The Family Trade by Charles Stross
Hominids by Robert J. Sawyer
Stealing the Elf-King's Roses by Diane Duane
Hell's Gate by David Weber (On Baen's site)
The White Wolf's Son: The Albino Underground by Michael Moorcock

Geoffrey (Geoffreys) | 525 comments My nomination is Stardust by Neil Gaiman

Amelia (selfmanic) It is "not" time for nominations or it is "Now" time for nominations?

Geoffrey (Geoffreys) | 525 comments heh. That's what I get for sending out messages before I had my morning coffee.

Josiah As I don't know much about the genre I looked at Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_...

I cross-referenced the list with Amazon Kindle and there weren't many options:
Lord Loss by Darren Shan (Young Adult)
Absolution Gap by Alastair Reynolds (Bad Reviews)
The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde (Not really scifi or fantasy?)

So...erm, ya. These aren't real nominees as such, though I would read Lord Loss or The Eyre Affair.

Eric (Basilius) | 73 comments I was going to recommend the Merchant Princes from Charles Stross, but only books 2, 3, 5, and 6 seem to be available.

Sawyer's Neanderthal Parallax? I've only read the first (Hominids). I'd go for the Reynolds book Stargrave suggested, but it's the third in a series, and #1 isn't on Kindle.

Tiara (digitaltempest) | 1 comments Most of the books I wanted to recommend are not available for the Kindle.

I wanted to steer away from the paranomal (more away from the vampire/werewolf/zombies deal, even though I love them). I also wanted to steer away from the cyberpunk-ish, technophile, post-apocalyptic world deal, even though I love that, too.

Can I make two nominations?

The Child Thief by Brom (Dark fantasy retelling of Peter Pan, deals with very strong themes, so... might not be everyone's cup of tea)

The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan (Young adult-ish modern fantasy dealing with mythology)

Yeah, it's kinda coincidental they both have "thief" in the title. I was originally going to just rec Riordan, but the word "thief" made me remember Brom.

Geoffrey (Geoffreys) | 525 comments The Family Trade is on Kindle so I'll add it too.... For whatever reason, though, it's not listed as a Merchant Princes Novel in the title like all the others are ... :(

Geoffrey (Geoffreys) | 525 comments I was looking around for what is and isn't an ebook (Most I can think of are only paper - the Legion of Videssos, River of the Dancing Gods, The Chronicles of Amber ... But, I did find:

Stealing the Elf-King's Roses by Diane Duane
Hell's Gate by David Weber (On Baen's site)

Dawn Swingle | 5 comments A suggestion:

Island in the Sea of Time by S.M. Stirling

Carey Bostwick (carebear11) | 33 comments I love David Weber's Honor Harrington's Universe. I would vote for Hell's gate. The blurb that I read sounds interesting, magic vs. science.

Tracey Alley (TraceyA) Hell's Gate sounds pretty good...? I'll nominate that.
