Hi Cindie:
In message # 128 you used [book:Game Change: Obama and the Clintons, McCain and Palin, and the Race of a Lifetime|6694937] for Task 15.6.

Do you want to move "Gams Change" to Task 15.9 and erase the points for 15.6? I won't post any points for the books shown in the message (for the Swimsuit task) until I get some clarification on this.

Thanks! -Krista

Coralie, I don't see how this fits Task 10.9 "Read a book that has Earth, Wind, Air, or Fire in the title...."

Perhaps the task number for this book is a typo? Let me know which task you'd like to use it for and I'll add the points. I haven't added any points to your score yet for this book. Thanks!

This is my fault for not reading the task correctly. I set the task as being the four elements of earth, fire, water and air, then never checked when the task was announced.
Leave it with me and I will work out my changes.

HI Coralie:

You know, just as I was posting the reply to your original message I wondered if there wasn't a typo in the the task description. It makes perfect sense that the four elements would be earth, fire, WATER, and air. You shouldn't be penalized for our goof. It was your task for goodness sakes, you of all people should know what the intended parameters are. :-)

I'll see if Sam correct the wording in the task message, and I'll add the points for this book to your score. Sorry about the mix-up!

For everyone going forward, the elements in Task 10.9 should be Earth, Water, Fire and Air.

-Krista

Thanks Kristi,
I really should have checked. In future I will know to be super careful. I don't know if we should change it now. If everyone has planned for wind, they might not be happy about changing to water.

Question: For 15.6 can we shift topics for books we read later? For example, my topic here is making bread, but I'm also going to read a book on architecture later for the regular challenge. Could I use that for 15.6(.2) once I've read it, even though it's not about making bread?

I wasn't sure if this would fly because it seems like you could make most anything "a topic you are interested in learning more about" and apply that to whatever the main character of your book does (assuming he/she has a job that actually exists). So if I had said I was interested in learning more about writing then any book with a writer as a main character would work (and many of the books I've read have had a main character who is a writer). Seems like this might fall into the needs limitations because anything could fit category.

Nope, you can't earn combo points for the same task. You can't claim points for Task 10.6a and also claim Combo Style Points for Task 10.6b using the same book.

Excerpted from the Reading w/Style Rules:
1. Combo (5 points): Read a book for one task that could have applied to another task as well.

Shannon, your original scoring of The Secret Garden in message #232 is correct. Your point total for this book should be 25.

I agree: You're claiming combo points for a book that can fit in another; it doesn't matter if the book qualifies because it fits into one or both parts of the task. No "Double Word Scores" here. :)
