1779642 I just wrote one - The Pride and the Sorrow - about the life of Paul Morphy :-)

Morphy was chess world champion in the 1850s - aged only twenty-one - but died young. He gave birth to modern chess as a 'fast game'! http://www.mattfullerty.com

Here's a great list of other 'chess novels' or 'novels with a chess plot': http://www.amazon.com/Chess-Fiction-Wort...

And this is a very good debate and round-up of novels missing from the above this: http://www.chesscircle.net/forums/genera...

Enjoy!
Matt

717257 Harry Potter... Ron Weasley played a really good game of wizards' chess.

My books, especially FORCED MATE where the heroine keeps the hero up all night playing chess to distract him from lustful advances.

All my titles, Forced Mate, Mating Net, Insufficient Mating Material, Knight's Fork... are chess positions or moves.

:-)

1166959 If I remember correctly, my first guess would be a Sherlock Holmes read. I will have to go back and try to remember which one. Unless someone else thinks of it!..lol..

The screenplay for the movie "One night with the King" they played HUMAN chess in the garden labyrinth!

Any others?
