"That's good to hear." Dustwhisper padded toward a patch of shade, carrying his mouse in his mouth.

"Yep." Mistyheart said.

"You sleep well?" Dustwhisper selected a mouse from the freshkill pile and looked at her.

"Good morning Dustwhisper." Mistyheart said politely.

Birdpaw shook the rain from her pelt and looed around for her mentor. She sighed and ran back to the apprentice den, where she spotted one of the other apprentices. "Hey, if Ripplepool comes looking for me, can you tell her I went out hunting? Thanks!" She raced off before the other apprentice could say anything, heading for the camp entrance.

Snowpaw stood nearly to her belly in the river, shivering in delight.

"Really...?" asked Icepaw, who was close by,"wow...she wants to raid THAT badly?"
Then raced off to catch up to snowpaw.

"wait!" Tanglepaw cried running back 2 camp, "i have to aske flashflood something. the two cats retreated back to camp. Tanglepaw ran over to flashflood,"what did you see when you went on the patrol?" she asked him
"nothing but the old fleabag brokenheart!" Flashflood laughed, "She was trying to pull of the raid all by herself without Thunderstar's permission!"

"Come on then!" Snowpaw laughed over her shoulder.

Tanglepaw laughed and tumbled through the forest. the rain felt good again. She stumbled on a fat vole killing it just by stepping on it with unsheathed claws.
"oops!" she said looking down at her messy kill, "its still food!"

"Wait up!!!" icepaw cried out, "I wanna go too! Please, cuz i havent gone hunting many times before..."

"sure.." tanglepaw agreed ad sniffe the air. they ran into the forest just to have the sky open up and rain fall again

"Well that's pleasant." Snowpaw mewed sarcastically. "Let's go hunting."

"well i was busy having bad dreams about Brokenheart killing me!" Tanglepaw retorted, "but now i want to do SOMETHING!"

Snowpaw caught the fish quickly and laughed. "How can you do that? I can't just do nothing." she knead the ground with her paws.

"im just being lazy and tired..." Tanglepaw yawned, walking over to the fresh kill pile. She tossed a fish at Snowpaw

"Hi Tanglepaw!" called Snowpaw. "What's up?"

Tanglepaw sniffed the air. she could smell Flashflood and his patrol coming back. Tanglepaw itched with excitement

Birdpaw woke and heard the rain. She grinned, and dashed out into the rain, dancing around and having fun.

Meanwhile, Crystalstar paced around in her den. Then poking her nose out into the rainy camp, she wondered when Icepaw and Snowpaw were going to come back...

Tanglepaw shuddered remebering how it felt like to be hungry. long agao in riverclan... when she was a kit... the clan had a famine. Tanglepaw remebered that her mother, Newlife had almost died.. and Tanglekit was starving... Tanglepaw got out of her den and stretched. the rain felt good wasing her pelt... but how were the other cats doing in the dark and cold forest?

Tanglepaw woke up in her den... Bad dream! she thougght about Brokenheart. windclan wasn't evil, they just needed some scraps of food! but it was raining and all the cats were in teh forest

"Uh...wait! Do you know what you're doing?" Icepaw cried out, but followed her sister anyways into the bushes.

"thought you could pull of our raid little worm!" Brokenheart laughed "Now its too late!" Tanglepaw's heart beat rapidly. she realized she was there to protect the camp, not fight in the forest! TAnglepaw slashed shadowedstar's muzzle and ran. time was ticking and Brokenheart's breath was on her neck. Tanglepaw leaped through the camp entrance and gave Brokenheart another clawing.

Tanglepaw lay in the apprentices den... She wanted to fight! she felt useless and idiotic just laying there while Snowpaw left to go and fight. "fight! Fight! Fight!" the blood pounding in her ears roared. her claws automaticly unsheathed. TAnglepaw left from her nest (the pain still throbbing in her wrist) and ran from the den. The rain pelted her eyes and ears. Bad time for a raid! Tanglepaw thought. She tried to find the scent of flashflood and Snowpaw. suddenly a paw thumped her on the back. immediately the weak cat fell down. A windclan cat stood over her.

"Let's go this way." Snowpaw said at random, running off into the bushes.

"No.." Icekit's voice quivered slightly as she spoke,"But I do see mouse blood...he must have hunted here." She sniffed the patch of blood on the forest floor. "It's mouse," she said, staring at Snowpaw.

"He went on patrol! The rain swept his scent away!" Snowpaw leaped over a log in a single bound, something she'd never done before, but didn't feel truimph, just panic. She sniffed. "Do you smell him?"

"I see," Icepaw replied, panting,"but do you even know where Flashflood is? How are we going to find him?"

"Crystalstar told me to tell Flashflood to take his patrol by the border!" Snowpaw explained as they shot away from camp. "I don't know, maybe Twolegs are poisoning their rabbits again."

"What?"cried icekit,"WindClan, Flashflood, why?"
But she got up imediatly as the lightning flashed.

"Storm!" Dawnkit yelped

Snowpaw rushed into the apprentice den, soaking wet. Ignoring their protests as she dripped on the moss, she mewed to her sister, "Come on! We need to find Flashflood! Windclan is planning to raid us of prey!" behind her, as though to punctuate her words, lighting crackled omniously.

Snowpaw layed quietly in the apprentice den. "It's really boring to be an apprentice when you don't have a mentor...and you can't train." She sighed to herself.

"Alright Snowpaw, Icepaw can go too, but be careful!" Crystalstar replied to Snowpaw,"Report to me immediatly if something happens!" She watches as Snowpaw races off in search of her sister.

"Cold." Novakit whimpered

A sudden storm boiled across the sky. Snowpaw shrunk away, looking up anxiously. Starclan is angry! she thought, terrified. "Can Icepaw come with me?" she shouted, for Flashflood's patrol had already left, and she needed to go tell him Crystalstar's orders.

Crystalstar sighed as Snowpaw padded away. She glanced at the freshkill pile, it was huge.
Ever since the apprentices started to train, the pile has gotten bigger.

Crystalstar pads over to Snowpaw,"Please tell Flashflood to take some cats to patrol around the border closest to WindClan, and also to collect some herbs for Tanglepaw and for a possible upcoming battle. Also, all mentors should train their apprentices to battle now more than hunting just in case WindClan attacks anytime soon."

"Snowpaw, you're right, Tanglepaw, you have proved yourself enough!" Crystalstar cried," You have to rest before you go out again! We might as well lose some prey than lose an apprentice that will one day be a fine warrior!"

Novakit blinked blearily, then sank back into sleep. So---tired---.

"No!" Snowpaw said anxiously. "You're still way too weak Tanglepaw. You've already served us enough, right Crystalstar?"
