Ghost Whisperer
Does anyone else watch this show?? I have a question about the season finale last Firday night......
Holli - I watch! This is one of my favorites. It's been a little confusing because of the writer's strike and then the big wrap up so quickly. What was your question?
I love this show......have since day one!!! I'm trying to figure out where they are going with the ending (6 people/5 shadows) what do you think??
I'm afraid that it either means that one of them is going to die or that one of them is already dead. The more I think about it, the more I start to think that it's Rick and he is already dead because he's the one who noticed. If it is I just don't know what I'll do because he is definitely my favorite character. I was also thinking that it could be someone else who is dead and that Rick can see ghosts now too because he believes in all of it. I'm not sure beyond that. What a way to end, huh? I'm going to be thinking about it all summer!
I was thinking the same thing....about one of them being dead. I hope its not Rick.....I REALLY hope its not....but Jay Mohr does have a new TV show coming out this fall called Project Gary...... not good for us!!!
OH NO! I didn't know about his new show. He's so dead then. Just like with Andrea. Boo Hoo. He is so great as Rick. I was even getting to the point where I wanted something to happen to Jim so Melinda and Rick could be together. I'll be looking into his new show then because he really is a great actor.
I like Jim....such a great hubby, totally understanding and stands up for Melinda. Were'nt they hinting at the possible death of Jim last season? Of did I forget an episode where they put an end to that?
I will be disappointed if they bump someone off because its so much like what they did with Andrea, which I SO did no see coming and was TOTALLY upset by that!
Oh, I some how missed part one of this episode. I have a DVR set so I am not sure how that happend
PS - So glad someone started this thread. i'm sort of a closet fan.
I do remember the rumors of the actor who plays Jim wanting to be more a part of the plot of the show or he was going to walk away. I'm not sure what exactly happened with that, but he's still here, so . . .
I like Jim too, I just really like Rick.
I was floored by the whole Andrea thing too. Remember they actually killed Melinda there too. The writers are not shy about bumping people off.
They killed Melinda in that finale, from what I understand, because they had were in major limbo. I think they didn't get renewed until just before the finale aired. I remember commercials were saying SERIES finale until about a day before then the description on my DVR suddenly said SEASON finale.
QUESTION: with the most recent finale, Melinda's mom kept sayiing fake-dad was "real bad guy" and real dad kept reminding mom "you know what he's capable of". This is sounds dumb but were they just refering to the fact he hired someone to kill real-dad and ended up doing it himself? I was expecting something more.
I think so Roxy.....I think that was all that was talking about. I love this show...always have!! I so hope they don't kill off anyone....I love everyone on the show right now and would really hate to lose Rick. My boyfriend thinks this show is stupid but I love it. It scares me at times...it ALWAYS makes me cry....its funny....its got everything you need LOL
It totally makes me cry too. Every episode. I know it's coming and still I cry. And let me tell you, I am so NOT a cryer. I get scared too, but Melinda just walks into all these crazy places and doesn't flinch when a ghost pops up. My husband doesn't watch with me, but he's always in and out of the room when it's on and he'll ask me about it sometimes so he secretly likes it. It will be back right?
Oh yes...it will for sure be back!! And yes...don't you think that's funny?? How they guys secretly like it? How would mine know its stupid if he didn't watch the WHOLE thing? I always ask him that.....LOL He says he's just waiting to catch a glimpse of Jennifer Love Hewitt's boobs (which does always happen!) What's up with a nightgown scene in every show?? =)
She does flash a lot of boob in every episode. Every once in a while, I'm a bit shocked at what she's wearing. She's pretty wide in the hips, too and I'm always shocked when the camera gets the angle a bit wrong. There was one episode where she had the really wide leg pants and there were tons of wide shots and I thought to myself that the wardrobe person was going to get fired once Jennifer Love Hewitt caught the play back! What's scary is she's really not a big woman. The camera doesn't do her many favors.
I've noticed that from the beginning!! Even when she was younger and in Party of Five there were alot of boob shots. And what guy didn't love "I Know What You Did Last Summer" because of it?? I know my brother sure did LOL I think she's a very cool lady to stand up to the media awhile back when those unflattering pictures where taken of her at the beach. What a great role model!!
Update for next season from TV Guide!!
Ghost Whisperer Experiments with Jamie Kennedy
Ghost Whisperer is getting even less Mohr this coming season — Jay Mohr's recurring college prof is going on sabbatical, as the actor leaves to front the new CBS sitcom Project Gary. To fill the void, Jamie Kennedy is joining the CBS drama as a regular cast member, says the Reporter.
Kennedy will play Eli, a grad student in psychology who forms a bond with Melinda. Oh, but I wanna form a bond with her! — Matt Mitovich
i really don't like jamie kennedy. his acting makes me uncomfortable. which i imagine is what he is trying to do. i can not put my finger on it exactly...but you know how the famous comedians all seem to have a really dark side or i should say they seem to be the most depressed? like richard pryor, owen wilson.....they seem to hide behind their funny faces but inside they have really low self esteem.....etc etc...anyways jamie kennedy to me has that his dark side is just on the surface, just enough to see glimpses of it. so his acting makes me uncomfortable because it always seems like he is on the verge of losing it.
Interesting.....I've never thought about him that way. Its true though about all of those actors.....I completely agree with you!!
Anyone watch the season opener? I've only watched aabout half of it so far but I had to post anyway. Is Jaime Kennedy (this is who the new prof is, right) going to be Jay Mohr's replacement? Blah! NOT a fan of JK. And I hvae to say, totally stupid but.....his hair is aweful!! It looks like he is wearing a ratty wig.
Yes Roxy...he is. I'm not a big fan either but we'll see how it goes. The opener was ok. Not that spectacular. I'm going to miss Jay Mohr! Have you watched his new show Gary Unmarried? I love it ;)
I was giving Jamie Kennedy the benefit of the doubt, but I really didn't like his character. I thought he did a poor job. :( I don't know if it was Melinda crying at the end that choked me up or the fact that I actually wanted Jay Mohr to stay, too!
I never watched Jamie Kennedy before, so I didn't have any expectations either way. But I really didn't care for him either. He had no warmth whatsoever. Nothing to really grab you and care about him as a person. Maybe he'll change, I don't know. I also thought he was very unattractive.
I have watched Gary Unmarried and I do like that show. For Jay Mohr's sake, I hope it does very well. I know our household will be watching and contributing to the ratings.
I was glad that they didn't kill off his character on Ghost Whisperer.
I also really want to know what that one Ghost was talking about at the end. I didn't exactly understand.
Yeah, Jay Mohr is/was kind of cool...the new guy is not...we'll see how his character developes. He has big shoes to fill!! And yes his hair is awful.
Normally Jamie Kennedy doesn't look that bad so I'm hoping the show did that on purpose and maybe they'll make him look normal next episode. He has gained some weight from the last movie I saw him in but that wasn't it at all...it was the hair!!!
Vicki....I believe what the ghost was telling Melinda was that because she moves back and forth between both worlds the "dead" side rubs off on her and the people she touches (or is close to) could die in her life or she can if she's not careful.
Delphyne....I felt the same way at the end!!!
I had heard that rumor. There were old rumors about that actor wanting more screen time during the last season. Then the strike happened and I'm not sure what ever came of his complaints. I then heard that they were going to have him die, but stick around, maybe indefinitely, as a ghost. None of the interviews would confirm/deny anything.
I agree with everyone about Jamie Kennedy's hair. I was distracted by how bad it was! I like Jamie Kennedy, but so far his character is not at all what I was expecting. I thought he was going to be comedy relief with Jay Mohr taking time off, but that was not evident in that episode. He was pretty annoying actually. It won't make me quit watching, but I'm hoping the humor will show up next episode.
The show has been hinting at someone close to dying for a long time. But it never seems consistant. Sometimes it seems like they hint at Jim, other times not so much. I'll be real pissed if they kill Jim. I don't see why they have to.....its a good relationship, he knows her secret and accepts it, which I thought was a real switch. I really don't want him to die and then she have to do the whole introduce someone new to her secret.
The message Melinda received at the end of the opener episode hints again at someone close to her dying. I'm assuming, hoping (because I don't want it to be Jim) that its a hint for Prof. WhatsHisNAme (Jay Mohr) since he has his own show now anyway.
If they kill off Jim its because he wants out of the show...not the other way around (so I've heard). I also heard that they won't be killing off Jay Mohr. Just sending him away. :) I'll try to see what I can find out on TVGUIDE.com about this.
This is the best I could find there.........
TVGuide.com: I feel like this could be a defining year for Ghost Whisperer. You’ve got exits, arrivals, a darker undertone....
Hewitt: When you get into the fourth season of anything, it has to be new and different. You have to ask, "How do we remind our viewers every week that this is why they're still watching this show?" And the only way you do that is by shaking things up a bit.
TVGuide.com: Melinda has this little group of "spirits" looking over her now.
Hewitt: Which I love. It's nice to have some people watch over Melinda for once.
TVGuide.com: Yes, but without revealing too much, they also bear a piece of ominous news.
Hewitt: Yes.... Death and destruction is always in Grandview. [Laughs:] For a very, very small town, it's got a lot of trouble. And a high crime rate.
TVGuide.com: I have to say, you wrecked me as I watched your goodbye to Professor Payne.
Hewitt: Awww.... I'm glad. Jay [Mohr:] was a great part of the show, and we were all sad to see him go. We wanted Melinda to pay homage to how great it was to have him around. Professor Payne was a Robin to her Batman, a confidante who was more excited than freaked out by what she could do.
TVGuide.com: Was Jamie Kennedy's character brought on knowing that Jay would be leaving?
Hewitt: No, they were going to introduce Eli regardless. It just ends up that he fills that kooky confidante role.
TVGuide.com: Melinda and Jim are on the baby track, and having a lot of fun trying....
Hewitt: Mm-hmm. It's very sweet, because Melinda for the first couple seasons was so anti-baby. She was freaked out by what she could do and what that meant for a kid. It's nice to see her have the confidence now to move into motherhood.
The next two questions concern a major (unconfirmed) spoiler.
TVGuide.com: And yet... and yet a dark cloud looms in form of the spoiler that Melinda's husband, Jim, dies....
Hewitt: A spoiler which I will not confirm.
TVGuide.com: It would be sad, though, if Jim left us.
Hewitt: The important thing for people who watch Ghost Whisperer to always remember is that things are not as they seem. We never do anything cut-and-dry. There are lots of opportunities for people to think that one thing is going to happen and it actually turns out to be something else. People should very much keep their mind open and enjoy the ride into our big storyline for the season, rather than try to guess what's going to happen. Even with the [death rumor:], people don’t have any idea what's coming. It's going to be very cool.
TVGuide.com: Tell me about Ghost Whisperer: The Spirit Guide (in stores No. 25). You wrote the foreword for it?
Hewitt: Yes, it's really cool, sort of an insider's guide to what goes into making our show. People will get a kick out of it!
As always thanks for the research Holli! I like how Jim's job gives her access and believability to what could otherwise be seen as Melinda is a nosy, buddinski...I didn't like Jay Mohr and not so much liking Jamie K. I do love Cameron Manheim and son's growing interest. I'm not sure if a baby would be a good idea just in terms of storyline. I think it would be more interesting if she has trouble coceiving for some ghostly reason...
Peace all! Have a great day.
Darn. She neither confirm nor denied the Jim dies rumor. Of course, she basically said think outside the box so maybe something happens to him, dies briefly for like a minute like Jaime Kennedy's character and comes back.
I can't decide about the baby. The couple needs to grow but I'd be real annoyed if she has the baby and then they don't deal with how does a Ghost Whisperer do what she needs to when she's got a baby on her hip.
I'm thinking she won't be able to have a baby. That will be her "price" for touching both the world of the living and the dead. I just can't imagine them bringing a baby into the mix.
oh....that's good Melissa! Well you know what I mean. Not good for Melinda but good that you deduced that. Smart thinking lady!
just watched the 10/10 episode.....I don't remember Melinda having visions before, at least not just from touching something like she did in this episoe. Still not liking Jaime Kennedy. The character is alright, his acting is sort of sucking.
Roxy, he is kinda boring, but loved that story from 10/10 episode. The was Neve Campbell's brother Christian as dead guy (he was on ALL MY CHILDREN for a while) and Jeremy London as doc who I've had a crush on forever. I"m interested in seeing how baby thing works out for them!
Peace!
Interesting now that Melinda has agreed to have a baby that she's way gung-ho.....making guest quarters for when their mom's visit or for a (rolling eyes because only on TV)"live in babysitter".
Did anyone else figure out the switched-at-birth angle before the questions even started? As soon as I saw the 2 moms I knew. It bummed me out they made that so sterio-typical obvious who belonged to who.
I'm also very upset by the promo's for next week....they're implying the death of Jim! I am not liking that one bit!! Though they do so a clip with some little boy who I didn't recognize. I hope they are playing with our heads! DON'T KILL JIM!!!
Regarding Jim leaving.........
This is from TV guide and the writers of Ghost Whisperer.
"First off, we wanted to clear up all the rumors that are circulating.
Read carefully: David Conrad is not, not, not leaving Ghost Whisperer. We love him - he is amazingly talented - we all have lots of fun together and he is an important part of the Ghost Whisperer family. But most of all, we here at Ghost Whisperer are very much aware of how all of you feel about him. Again, David is not leaving Ghost Whisperer. Are we clear? We do, however, have some exciting and dramatic things in store for our beloved Jim and Melinda that we can't wait to share with you- it's all just around the corner. And, until then, please know you can always come here for the absolute truth."
But are they going to kill him? We know he can stick around as a ghost. And if they are not going to knock him off in some way then why must they hint at it. We don't like to be toyed with like that!!
I know!! Why DO they do that? Stir up publicity for the show I guess.... I read an interview with him for the latest TV Guide and he said his character was going to become completely different. Basically he was saying no more mr nice guy which should be weird. I'm thinking he's going to die and come back to life and he'll have powers too but won't be able to deal with them. Too far-fetched??
the minute the nurse asked for them to repeat name of girl they brought in to ER, I was like, "Oh no, not another switched at birth story!"
holli, nothing is too far-fetched in ghost whiperer...i think you idea is closer than anything i've heard!
xo
I was disappointed that I guessed the switched at birth thing right away too. I did notice that Eli/Jamie Kennedy is starting to sound way to much like Rick/Jay Mohr. I feel like we are being force fed her new "sidekick". I really wish Jay had never left.
I'm not liking the whole pregnancy thing that happened. If she had conceived, the pregnancy tests would have shown something. Some weak sign maybe, but I really think that would have shown up. I didn't like the way she just suddenly knew she was pregnant. That was all very weird. But whatever. I still think my theory that they won't actually be able to have a baby because of the "you walk in both worlds" thing sticks.
Holli, I was thinking the same thing when i read the TV guid blurb you posted. He'll die and come back with a "gift" of some kind. Or, and this would be worse, he dies and gets a glimps of the dark shadows rather then the light? something to make him come back darker. I really don't want them to mean up Jim.
Melissa, I'm with you on the prego stuff. Its like they are rushing the story now. if they want to get her pregnant in a rush, fine get do it don't rush a conception issue just because that is a hot topic right now. I was ticked when she felt woozy within what 24 hours of having sex. [rolling my eyes:] oh brother!
Poor Melinda, Jim becomes a ghost and her grief blocks her gift. This better be good if they want to keep fans happy. I'll hate it until she's able to "see" him again, but now we know why Jamie Kennedy's Eli is the replacement for Jay Mohr.
The bad news: no baby ever. Even worse news: evidently next episode is a real tear-jerker, so bring your kleenex for the funeral.
Peace!
Even though Courtney gave me the spoiler heads up about this episode an hour before it started (thank you...I love those texts!!) I was still so sad. This is going to change so much about this show and I can see that even more crying per episode will be on the agenda now. Poor Melinda. Makes sense about Jamie Kennedy now (he'll be able to hear Jim when she can't see him) but still. Poor guy.
