611251 I thought it would be interesting to see what everyone's reaction was to the end of the book. I was weeping. Weeping hard. Crying harder than I ever have in my entire life. "He is gone" are the three worst words I have ever read. They made me weep even harder. Okay, now that I think about it, this may be depressing, but might as well try.

629721 I was actually kind of relieved that Gem decided to establish a society in the chaos that was the realms. I was very depressed at Kartik's passing, but at the same time, happy that he was put out of the misery that Amar had put him through. I was a bit weepy. But I was also angry, happy, as I said, relieved, and I was just a big bundle of emotion.

message 3: by (G)Emma , Allie's a barbie doll!! (new)

611251 completely, I mean, on one end, he saved her, loved her, changed his destiny, but then, he's gone. I loved how she gave the magic back to the land, it was completely unexpected!

message 4: by Jenny, Wait...your fake? *GASP!* Are you made of plastic!?!? (new)

1188252 I never thot that would happen to kartik. I was sooo depressed I could not stop bawling. I was really glad when she gave the magic back to the land when she was all like don't you see what this to us! I think Kartik's passing made her realize that no one or thing should own the magic it should be given back to where it came from...the earth.

message 5: by (G)Emma , Allie's a barbie doll!! (new)

611251 Well, he died because of everyones greed.

message 6: by Jenny, Wait...your fake? *GASP!* Are you made of plastic!?!? (new)

1188252 Exactly

message 7: by Allie, I'm not a princess, this ain't a fairy tale (new)

835716 I cried, as i've said. But he did it to save Gemma and for good, so i guess it's okay... sort of.

message 8: by (G)Emma , Allie's a barbie doll!! (new)

611251 He saved her, he loved her enough to save her. He spoke her name in his last breathe.

message 9: by Allie, I'm not a princess, this ain't a fairy tale (new)

835716 i kno.... *bursts into tears* not really but i can feeel them...

message 10: by deleted member (new)

It wasn't a surprise to me that Kartik turned into a tree, because I accidentaly read a review on a book, and the person writing the book did not say it had spoilers! But I was a little teary reading the end. I didn't want Kartik to be turned into a tree, but I also didn't want a typical happy ever after story.

message 11: by (G)Emma , Allie's a barbie doll!! (new)

611251 I saw a spoiler on youtube, and I was sooo upset about it, but I think it was good for me, it made me cry harder, :P lol.

message 12: by deleted member (new)

i'm sad to see the series end!!!

message 13: by (G)Emma , Allie's a barbie doll!! (last edited Jun 06, 2008 09:41AM) (new)

611251 Yes, and the ending, but I am soo happy Libba let us decide for ourselves. Libba is amazing, thank goodness for her genius!

PS: Welcome to the group!

message 14: by Taylor S (new)

629721 I heard that she is writing another book. It's called "Going Bovine" and it sounds nothing like the Gemma Trilogy. The main character has Mad Cow Disease.

message 15: by (G)Emma , Allie's a barbie doll!! (new)

611251 Ya I've heard it too. I bet it will be amazing! And I think Libba will be a genius in whatever genre she works in (but especially victorian fantasy!)

message 16: by deleted member (new)

Whats Mad Cow Disease? And when does it come out?

message 17: by (G)Emma , Allie's a barbie doll!! (new)

611251 It's when you eat cows who have eaten other cows, cannibals.

message 18: by deleted member (new)

Really? My mom said it is some disease.

message 19: by (G)Emma , Allie's a barbie doll!! (new)

611251 Yep, it's really awful, because cow scraps would be in their feed.

message 20: by deleted member (new)

Ew.

message 21: by (G)Emma , Allie's a barbie doll!! (new)

611251 Yeah!

message 22: by deleted member (new)

I FINALLY FINNISHED IT...AND WELL MY FRIEND ACTUALLY RUINED THE KARTIK PART FOR ME!!!!
but i thought it was rly sad...i loved/hated it

message 23: by Jenny, Wait...your fake? *GASP!* Are you made of plastic!?!? (new)

1188252 yeah, its an amazing book but its soo sad

message 24: by (G)Emma , Allie's a barbie doll!! (new)

611251 Exactly!

message 25: by deleted member (new)

I didn't cry. It would have to be someone I really liked who died to make me cry. I didn't like Kartik a lot. I like to write plays, and if my favorite character who I wrote died I would probably cry. I like to make characters who I can't help but love, but sometimes I make them in roleplays, and when people kill them I get really sad. :-(

message 26: by Liz (new)

1321995 I totally teared up when Kartik died. It was soooo sad but I am really glad Gemma gave the magic to the land and cut her season short and went to America. It was a good ending. Except for the Kartik part, that was sad, but sometimes it makes books better if a beloved character dies. It makes it so you think about it and remember it and want to read it again. Like with the Harry Potter series. It wouldn't be nearly as good if JK Rowling never killed anyone off and left it to be a super happy ending. I do wish there was a sequel about Gemma's life in America or Felicity or Ann.

message 27: by (G)Emma , Allie's a barbie doll!! (new)

611251 You write plays? That's awesome Helena! Hi Annabeth! Your so right, thats my perception of the ending. And welcome to the group!

message 28: by deleted member (new)

I've only written 1 complete one, and I'm almost done my second one. But I like do a lot of roleplays on here, and I really like the characters I make, and then someone goes and kills them. Then I tear up. I don't like it when people kill my characters. And Emma I am thinking of becoming a playwrite when I grow up, or an actress but I have a better chance of being a playwrite!

message 29: by (G)Emma , Allie's a barbie doll!! (new)

611251 Playwrite would be awesome! What was the plot for your complete one?

message 30: by deleted member (new)

It was about how men (sometimes) think they are better then women. It was about how this one Duke's Brother wanted to 'get rid of' him and become Duke, then banish all the women from his city because he thought they had too much power over men. Kinda like how in the roleplay you guys torture the guys and have power over them! The second one (I'm on page 63, its a long one) is about how a gang took in a girls brother, then killed him the next day. The girl said no to joining the gang, and the gang leader is after her. But did the gang really kill her brother? Duh-duh-duh! Sorry, I could blab about pays forever! :-)

message 31: by Allie, I'm not a princess, this ain't a fairy tale (new)

835716 those sound great!

message 32: by deleted member (new)

The first ones pretty short, only 63 pages, and the second one is gonna have at least pages into the 70's. The only person who read the first one is my mom. She said it as really good, but I don't know if she was just saying that.

message 33: by (G)Emma , Allie's a barbie doll!! (new)

611251 That sounds fantastic! Let us read it sometime! I had this idea for a play. It was similar to your gang one. But, it's this really shy girl, and these small town boys create a gang, they kill her brother, she has weird ways of coping, and one of the gang members fall in love with her.

message 34: by deleted member (new)

Well there is a problem for the gang leader in my play...he does fall in love with the girl he wants to 'punish' and if he doesn't punish her he loses his rep as the tough guy. I could post it on my writing if you wanted when I finish, although It is pretty long! I can definately post the 1st one now if you wanted though.

message 35: by (G)Emma , Allie's a barbie doll!! (new)

611251 That would be great!

message 36: by deleted member (new)

You want me to post the first one? I will, but on my writing. I don't like showing my writing to people. At least not a lot of people, no offense. I don't know why, I guess I'm just shy, which is why I have a better bet at being a playwrite then an actress!

message 37: by (G)Emma , Allie's a barbie doll!! (new)

611251 Haha! It's okay, I'm pretty shy about my writing too.

message 38: by Allie, I'm not a princess, this ain't a fairy tale (new)

835716 same

message 39: by deleted member (new)

I am (unfortunately) very shy when I act too. Not when I perform, but the excersises we have to do. Especially the ones that make you just be silly infront of people. I can't do that. I'm not popular in school, so I have trained myself to do nothing that can embarras me. Now if I want to be an actress I have to change that! :-(

message 40: by Allie, I'm not a princess, this ain't a fairy tale (new)

835716 I am so shy rehearsing for dance performances, but when i'm actually out there, i'm not!

message 41: by deleted member (new)

I don't do silly unless I want to. If I don't want to, I won't. Its just not possible to get me to do something like that. Most of the times I am silly with my friends, but in front of people I don't know I am barely ever silly unless I'm making jokes, which I tend to make a lot of."

message 42: by (G)Emma , Allie's a barbie doll!! (new)

611251 I hate being silly in front of people.

message 43: by Sharayah (new)

1306002 Same. I wish I felt comfortable with it though. I hate being in front of people in general but my future is based on me singing and so I need to learn how to deal with it... haha

message 44: by (G)Emma , Allie's a barbie doll!! (new)

611251 Haha, ooorrr, you could pick something more practical.

message 45: by Sharayah (new)

1306002 Haha, I have been training since I was 2 I doubt a change in the plans would be acceptable. I LOVE singing just have super bad stage freight lol. Perfect huh :) My mom says I can be whatever I want to be but I would hate to put so many years and so much money to waste. I plan to have other jobs but singing will be a big one :) If I can pull myself together that is.

message 46: by Allie, I'm not a princess, this ain't a fairy tale (new)

835716 me and my friends are ALWAYS silly, lol.

message 47: by deleted member (new)

I am silly with my friends, and when I'm acting I'm not nervous, its just I went to camp and we did a lot of acting EXCERSISES where we had to be silly, and I just really didn't like doing that. If I play a silly character I will LOVE it though! The 2 plays I wrote (I finished the second one) are comedies, so yeah.

message 48: by Sharayah (new)

1306002 Awesome!

message 49: by Allie, I'm not a princess, this ain't a fairy tale (new)

835716 I'm just v. silly, all my friends are, we'll start cracking up for no reason and have random splashing fights in the ocean

message 50: by deleted member (new)

You live near the ocean? Lucky!
