I like following Mock Newberys and was surprised to find that there wasn't one on Goodreads. So I started one awhile back. If you are interested you can check it out.

Cool sites!! I can't wait to go through them more carefully and all the links they provide.
KT, how many eligible books are chosen and how di I get a list of the eligible books? It would be fun to have a mock vote! (I want to vote, too!)
Number The Stars is my #1 favorite Newbery book. Although I'm pretty sure it was 1990 and (dating myself here) I would have been far too old for it, had I been a kid at that reading level, I'm fairly certain it would have struck me as pretty amazing then, too.
I've done three mock Newbery discussions with 3-5th graders over the years, and every time, they've chosen the book that went on to win. They were:Number the Stars
Bud, Not Buddy
Holes
A lot depends on which books have been pre-selected for the kids to read and vote on. They usually only read about 10-12 of the eligible books and the ultimate winner may not have even been on their reading list.
Have any of you seen some of these mock Newbery sites?

I think it is interesting to see what books kids actually vote for opposed to the adults on the Newbery Committee. There are some winners that are the same but many that won on these sites did not win the official medal.
