This book is one of my favorite books of all times, I can read it over and over. Actually I can read any of Jane Austen's books over and over..lol Go for it, if you read a lot I think you will like it.

Go for it! I read P&P for the first time when I was 13 too. Just don't plan to make this reading your last. It's the kind of book that you will continue to find new things in as you get older. Enjoy!

Is it a hard read? I recently ordered it from the Library after seeing preview for the movie on tv. I'm 13 years old, but I read a lot.

What makes Pride and Prejudice so memorable in my mind is the witty dialogue and banter between characters. I suppose if I am going to praise the book, the author needs praise as well: Austen's mastery of the English language is amazing, she had the ability as a story teller to create scenes that stay with you as if they were your own memories, as well as the ability to ellicit emotion as though you yourself, were the one who finally found love.

Not to mention the book has some good laugh-out-loud scenes. Any book that makes me laugh is an instant friend. And ditto to what Katherine said!

Pride and Prejudice remains one of my favorite books. I re-read it last year and was captivated all over again. Austen's characters come to mind first. They are all vivid and distinct, flawed but likeable, complex and real. The book is essentially a love story about a star-crossed pair, so this keeps us turning the page. But also there's Austen's great satiric take on her characters and their society. Mrs. Bennett, for instance. She is so absurd, yet believable and even a tiny bit sympathetic in the end. I could go on. It's a great book. Wonderful scenes, strong dialogue, compelling story.

Some books last the test of time. Pride and Prejudice is one of them. It has been phenomenally successful.
