Nophoto-f-25x33 First of all, the cover is great. Red, Black, a fork that is bent. Already we know there is drama and tension, not to mention evil. The cover comes across as imparting "Evil". And, whether or not Burroughs fabricates or enhances memory (well, who doesn't do that?), the package is part 3 in a trilogy. NOW, I understand where he comes from. After all, this type of remembrance can only be viewed as fiction. His father, brother, mother's stories would be similar but different of course.
Augusten Burroughs by any interpretation keeps you reading and thinking. God, I thought my husband was a slob! (mostly a reference to "Dry" which was why this factored into the trilogy.

229139 I feel that this book was much more serious than some of his others. I liked it alot, but not as much as his others. Some parts were just terrifying and others brought me to tears. I don't think I really found any of it funny at all.

1277197 I did not enjoy it as much as his other books, but I did love this book. The enjoyment of his other books are always the laughs, but this book left pictures in my head that were chilling. I felt it gave me more insight to the crazy events of his life and left me wanting to go back an re-read his other books.

1149635 I laughed out loud more than once in this book, but yeah, not as often as usual. I didn't find humor completely necessary in this book, in fact I would have found it inappropriate in many occassions (I read other reviews where people didn't like how uncomical it was.) Anyway, I applaud him, and I believe him. OBVIOUSLY things are dramatized and paraphrased, but do I care? The book moved me, was as genuine as it could be, and I personally found the darkness of it to be refreshing and perhaps in a dark way, enjoyable.

1094759 I felt these stories were completely true. I am a huge Augusten Burroughs fan myself and I feel like I know him intimately now. These stories must have been painful to put into this book and I applaud him.

Nophoto-f-25x33 I am a HUGE Augusten Burroughs fan and have read everything he has ever written - I found this book extremely sad and only laughed out loud in 1 chapter which turned out to be one of the saddest chapters in the end . . . . I am curious as to what others thought since there has been so much controversy on whether or not his stories are really TRUE . .
