946249 Anyone else excited for the release of "Scream For Me" next week?

Since it's hardcover, I'll be checking it out of the library instead of shelling out the $$.

Karen Rose

669573 Wow, is it "next week" already? I'm very excited about it! Thanks for reminding me that it's "next week" already. I'm going out and about today and will start looking for it--you never know...:-)

message 3: by Auntee (last edited May 09, 2008 09:11PM) (new)

886675 Let us know if you locate it Kathrynn--I'll be checking out the usual places on Friday--unless you find it sooner... :D

message 4: by Isis FG (new)

946249 LOL. I should have looked at K-Mart while I was out yesterday to see if it had snuck out.

The library system I use had 5 copies available for various branches. They probably won't get them until after the release date.

message 5: by Kathrynn (new)

669573 I didn't find it. Maybe in a few days...

message 6: by Auntee (new)

886675 Just came back from B&N--no luck either. :(

message 7: by Isis FG (new)

946249 That's a total bummer! I just checked the online catalog for the library system I use, the books are still listed as "on-order".

message 8: by Kathrynn (new)

669573 I was at Barnes and Noble and asked about Karen Rose's new book. They told me they didn't have the book yet and it has a "Do not sell BEFORE May 13, 2008" tag.

FYI

So, May 13...

message 9: by Isis FG (last edited May 09, 2008 09:02PM) (new)

946249 Huh, interesting. Wonder if the publisher is enforcing that or if B&N sticks to release dates better. My library still says "on-order". So rude of them to make us wait!

In the meantime, I'll go read Karen Robards new book that I was finally able to get out of the library.

message 10: by Auntee (new)

886675 Huh, what's with the 'do not sell before' stuff? I wonder if all the stores follow that...

882708 Speaking as the readaholic I am that carries a detailed listing of authors, books, and release dates to bookstores (and no, I'm not kidding)...

Media is released on Tuesdays and Fridays. Most all books (and bookstores) have fairly rigid "release rules", Harlequin/Silhouette's are released twice a month, the last Tue/Fri before the end of the month and the closest Tue/Fri to the middle of the month. Only really big name hardback authors release mid-month. Trade paperback size books usually release the Tuesday after mid-month (so Lora Leigh's new Pleasure book will come out this Tues). The best time to hit the bookstore, if you are looking for new releases, is the first Tuesday of a new month and the last Friday prior to a new month.

Having said all that, I have found that my local BooksAMillion will put out the coming Tuesday's releases on the Sat or Sun prior. UNLESS, it's a big name paperback release and then they won't put it on the shelves until the actual release day...

Now isn't this WAY more info than you wanted?

JJ

message 12: by Auntee (new)

886675 No No, Julie, that's excellent info! We were just hoping that one of the big book stores would put out Karen Rose's book early, but I guess she's one of those 'big name' releases. :(
Oh well, I guess I can wait a few days...it's not like I have nothing to read! :D

message 13: by Isis FG (new)

946249 I checked at Target, Wal-Mart, and K-Mart today on the very off chance it snuck onto the shelves. No luck, unfortunately...which wasn't a surprise. But oh well. I did find some other goodies for my to-read shelf...like I need more to read, though!

message 14: by Auntee (new)

886675 Finally got the new Karen Rose today at Border's. It was 30% off, so the price wasn't too bad($11.89)--sort of like buying a trade paperback.
It's got 436 pages--quite a big hardback. It's should keep me busy for awhile!:)

message 15: by Isis FG (new)

946249 I'm so jealous!!

My library system still says on order :( and there aren't any big book stores near where I live that would carry it.

message 16: by Kathrynn (new)

669573 Ew! I'm going to run to Hastings tomorrow and look for it!

I wish we had a Borders near us...boohoo. I love to browse in their stores!

Does anyone else LOVE the smell of books beside me?

Kathrynn

message 17: by Auntee (new)

886675 Kathrynn--one of the best smells in the world! LOL!

message 18: by Kathrynn (new)

669573 I got it! Hastings! Wewhoo!

Almost finished with Midnight Angel, then I'm going to read this one.

message 19: by Auntee (new)

886675 Get to it, girl--then we can 'discuss'! :)

message 20: by Isis FG (new)

946249 Yay! The library system says it has received its copies :) They're not out for circulation yet, but hopefully tomorrow!

message 21: by Auntee (new)

886675 Yea--go get it Isis! I've been making some headway and it's getting really good! :)

message 22: by Isis FG (new)

946249 Last night the catalog said "Received"...today it says "Being cataloged"...UGH! But since they are now in-house, I put a Hold on one. So hopefully soon.

I should have just caved and bought the hardcover, but I hate hardcovers. I'm a paperback girl.

message 23: by Auntee (new)

886675 Yeah, me too. I would have preferred a paperback. Karen Rose's paperbacks are so...substantial. Did you ever notice how heavy they are and the paper that is used just feels somehow different?
Anyway, I think you're going to like this one. But it is (so far) no way as gruesome and scarey as her last one! That last one had to be her all time creepiest! :)

message 24: by Kathrynn (new)

669573 Her paperback books have a different type of paper or something. They have a lot of pages, but look like a normal paperback, but are heavier.

I prefer paperbacks, too. Fit better on my shelves. I worked in my yard most of the day today, so I've read very little. We are having such nice weather and it's hard for me to stay inside. The past week or so, storm city!

I hope to read more of it tonight.

message 25: by Isis FG (new)

946249 Yeah, her paperbacks are a bit different than the norm. I've never noticed whether all books from Warner are like that or not.

Paperbacks are just so much easier for me to read. Hardcovers are so bulky and hard to hold. So I try to avoid buying them whenever I can. The only author currently that'll I'll buy new releases in hardcover for is Nora Roberts. I get everything else out of the library.

message 26: by Crystal (new)

940491 I went to Sudbury - the next town north of me that has a Chapters store - over the weekend. I had a huge list with me. I was also hitting some used book stores well I was there. I think I had about 6 Karen Rose books on that list. I managed to get 5 out of 6...so I did good. I want to have most of her books before I start reading them because according to her website most of her books tie into or branch off from others.

message 27: by Auntee (new)

886675 I think you're going to really enjoy her, Crystal. I hope "Die For Me" was in that bunch--she really outdid herself with that one! :)

message 28: by Isis FG (new)

946249 It looks like I'm either going to have to go buy the book, or wait possibly over a month for the book. As soon as all the copies got into the libraries, they went on holds for people apparently in line before me. Stupid library system, ordering only 5 copies for a system with 18 libraries.

message 29: by Auntee (new)

886675 Bummer, Isis. Maybe you won't have that long to wait... :(

message 30: by Marnie (new)

872951 I just finished reading "You Can't Hide". It's the first Karen Rose book I've read and I really liked it. However, the murder scenes were a little too graphic for me. The fact that one was impaled is all I needed to know. All the other stuff I felt was not relevant to the book.

message 31: by Kathrynn (new)

669573 Marnie, FYI, her books are graphic--especially Die For Me. If this one bothered you, I do not recommend reading Die for Me...it was gruesome for me. But I liked it. ;-)

message 32: by Isis FG (new)

946249 Yes, her books are rather graphic. It's never bothered me...but then, I love slasher flicks so it makes sense ;)

message 33: by Isis FG (new)

946249 I'm 136 pages into Scream For Me and I can't seem to make myself put the book down. I only meant to read a chapter or two, but yeah, that didn't work.

message 34: by Kathrynn (new)

669573 Did you finish Comanche Moon, Isis?

message 35: by Isis FG (new)

946249 (Comanche Heart)...Yes, finished it last night, just haven't had a chance to write a review yet. I figured I'd start on Scream For Me, and got sucked in.

message 36: by Isis FG (new)

946249 I stumbled onto a summary for the upcoming book Kill For Me...Amazon already has it up despite the fact that the book won't be out until next February.

Anywho, I added the summary here at GR if anyone wants to take a peek...
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/34016...

message 37: by Auntee (new)

886675 Excellent, Isis! It sounds really good! I hate having to wait until February, though...:(

message 38: by Isis FG (new)

946249 Me too, Auntee. It seems kinda silly...I mean, there's a cover out on Rose's website, Amazon has a summary, it's priced and got an ISBN...but we have to wait like 8 more months. Very annoying :(

message 39: by Eastofoz (new)

939365 I've never read Karen Rose and I'm thinking of picking up DIE FOR ME but in the Amazon blurb there isn't much info on the romance side. Is there romance too or is it mostly suspense? Is that a good one to start with by her?

message 40: by Isis FG (new)

946249 The books are very high on the suspense angle but for me (and I'm someone who reads strictly romance) there was still enough romance to entice me. I don't think there's as much emotional development of the relationships because the suspense is more of a priority, but I've never been disappointed in any of the couples she's put together.

All of the books she's written haven at least minor character connections, though some have more direct plot connections. So if you're considering reading her, you might want to start at the beginning which is....errr...I can't remember LOL. I'm pretty sure I posted a list in the RSL group.

message 41: by Eastofoz (new)

939365 Thanks Isis. DIE FOR ME is the first apparently. Still not too sure if I'll try her....I need my romance fix (LOL!)

message 42: by Isis FG (new)

946249 Actually it's Don't Tell that was her first book
http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show_grou...

Die For Me is one of her newest. I think if you like romantic suspense, and don't mind descriptive violence, then you'd probably like her. I'm picky about the level of romance in a pick (it's why I won't read Lisa Jackson anymore) but I was hooked on her books the first time around. But hey, everyone's got their own likes and dislikes :)

message 43: by Kathrynn (last edited Jan 05, 2009 07:36AM) (new)

669573 Look what Christa found on the Karen Rose website. It's a neat diagram of how her books are related.

Thanks for the info Christa!

1Don't Tell (book #1)2Have You Seen Her? (book #2)3I'm Watching You (book #3)4Nothing To Fear (book #4)5You Can't Hide (book #5)6Count to Ten (book #6)7Die For Me (book #7)8Scream For Me (book #8)9Kill For Me (book #9)10I Can See You (book #10)

message 44: by Isis FG (new)

946249 I was thinking of going through Rose's books here on GR and adding a "series" number to them since there seem to be a lot of people wanting to know their order.

Thoughts on that? I mean, they're not a technical series, but they are all connected. So I thought maybe just putting (book #1) in parenthesis like that or maybe (semi-series #1).

Dunno.

So, thoughts?

message 45: by Kathrynn (new)

669573 Isis, I think that's a good idea. Her books, IMO, are much better if read in order because the characters overlap.

You go girl! ;-)

message 46: by Isis FG (last edited Jul 25, 2008 07:48PM) (new)

946249 They're all numbered now according to the numbers she gave them on that chart on her site. I also added a note to her author profile that all her books are connected and pasted a link to the chart.

I also went through and made sure all her books have summaries, characters listed and whatnot. So for anyone wanting to see more of what her books are about, you can find all the info on GR :)

message 47: by Kathrynn (new)

669573 Excellent work, Isis! ;-)

message 48: by Isis FG (new)

946249 Thanks :) This is what happens when an organization nut joins GR - they have to go around fixing everything ;)

message 49: by Auntee (new)

886675 Yeah, but you're good at it--keep it up! lol!

message 50: by Isis FG (new)

946249 Hey Kathrynn? I was about to add a message with one of those book-cover-link-list things, but I skimmed through the messages and saw you'd already posted one (msg #43). Can you edit it and add books #9 (Kill For Me) and #10 (I Can See You)?

****

Less than a month until Kill For Me! Can't wait!
