I've read the first 2 in this series Cherra, will be interested to hear what you think. I wouldn't say it's a fav of mine, but I liked it well enough and do plan on continuing it at some point ;)

Oh me too Cindy! What do you think so far? I'm almost done actually!
They get better, Laura. The Psy men don't sound that appealing now, but just wait until you meet one of their soldiers. Third is the best. :D

i am really hoping this is good b/c i have been reading some total crap lately. in october i read a lot of awesome books now the mediocre books are suffering ...i guess that is what happens when you read so many good books in a row...

No problem Silvana! I'll let you know how it is!

Hey, no I haven't read that one yet, but I've heard that it's really good, is it? If I liked the Mortal Insturements then would I like that one?
Laura wrote: "Started

Sounds yummy. Do you like the series so far?
Tara wrote: "Just started
last night. And 20 pages in everyone has a normal name! I was hoping for something crazy that starts with and X/Y/Z for the pnr challenge! Lol."
Don't worry things get more interesting in the middle. I loved this book, think you will too!
Went off the PNR path for a moment and just finished
Shadowman, by Cody McFayden.
This was a phenominal book. FBI, Serial and suspense. I have the review on my page. A great read and I highly recomment it.
Kelly wrote: "Don't worry things get more interesting in the middle. I loved this book, think you will too!"I'm not disappointed in the book, just the names. I have a hole in the pnr challenge that I was hoping Covet would fill. She's usually good with names like Zsadist and Xhex... I just need an XYZ name in a book that I have in my giant pile of TBR books!

Heather City of Glass is the 3rd book in Cassandra Clare Mortal Instruments series. I really enjoyed it. Book 4 is due out next year. Also Clare has a new side series The Clockwork Princess also due out next year.
I loved Mortal Instruments series! Those are deffinately one of my favorite series so far. I love the quotes, the quick comments and all the smart ass come backs. All the character's are great and I so can't wait for the next book :)

Ya I heard about that, and is the new one about Simon?
Who has read the Psy-Changling series by Nalini Singh? I have read the first 3 and I have been waiting for
but I got #6
in from the library and was wondering if I could read it b4 the others come in? Will it mess up the backstory? Help!!!

Heather The Infernal Devices is a series of prequels to The Mortal Instruments series, set in 19’th century London. The story concerns 16-year-old orphan Tessa Gray, whose quiet life is thrown into turmoil when her older brother Nathaniel suddenly vanishes, leaving her alone. Her search for him leads her into Victorian-era London’s dangerous supernatural underworld, where warlocks throw masked balls for half-demon Downworlders. When Tessa discovers that she herself is a Downworlder, she must come to trust her natural enemies, the demon-killing Shadowhunters, if she ever wants to learn to control her powers and find her brother. Torn between the beautiful Will, a Shadowhunter who isn’t what he seems, and the devoted Jem, whose own deadly secret is slowly destroying him, Tessa must draw on all her strength to save her brother and keep herself alive in this deadly new world.

You're right! And why isn't the mechanic, doctor, etc. into a middle aged slightly pudgy wrinkly lady with a great sense of humor!
Gaby wrote: "I just finished Graceling, by Kristin Cashore."
How was it Gaby? I was going to start it but then start on this crazy historical romance craze.
Silvana_PNA_#5 wrote: "Valorie wrote: "I'm reading Jacob by Jacquelyn Frank"I read an excerpt for Jacob. Please share when your done."
I just finished
and loved it! Great romantic paranormal read. Jacquelyn Frank really goes into depth with the romance between Jacob and Isabelle. She weaves a great story that gives you history and background on the other Nightwalkers.
I just finished reading my first Sherilyn Kenyon novel Fantasy Lover, I must say I am really disappointed. It was so cheesy and totally not what I am used to. I am not really into romance novels per say but I prefer a good fantasy storyline and if there just happens to be some romance in there well, its a bonus. I mean who says Holy Green guacamole? I have been told that the dark hunter series do get better so I will give the other books a shot, if not i think I will forget the entire series. Such a shame as she does have some good reviews? Do her books get better?
Kelly wrote:
Is that a new cover?
No, think it's a couple of years old (well it is according to Amazon here in the UK).
Yeah, the first six BDB books have different covers in the UK:

Oddly though, they kept the US cover for Lover Avenged, but have a scary cover up for Lover Mine (although the US one is very nice)
Emma wrote: "I just finished reading my first Sherilyn Kenyon novel Fantasy Lover, I must say I am really disappointed..."I've read pretty much all of the Dark Hunter novels, with the exception of a couple of Dream Hunters and Fantasy Lover. I've heard really mixed things about Fantasy Lover, so I wouldn't judge the series by it. I think the DH world is really good and I would certainly recommend trying another one or two (at least make it to a Were Hunter story - yum...).
HELP! I"m on disc 5 of Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr and at this point between the story and the reader I don't want to go on with life, much less go on with the book.
I am realizing that this is a teen book and perhaps that is colouring my perception of the story. However I read the Twilight series and loved all of them. And it might be that I just finished listening to an awesome book - Magic Strikes by Ilona Andrews. The book/story and reader were both great! If you've read this one, did you notice that the cover model looks like the one for Jeanine Frost's Grave (Bones) series?
Any encouragement/opinions???

I love prolific writers! Especially if they are good. There's nothing more disappointing than coming to the end of a series and having to wait a year or more for the next book, if there will even be one. :(

YES, YES, YES! They do get better I promise. I agree Fantasy Lover was a waste as a book (IMHO) but it does introduce characters and knowledge that will be referred to in her later dark hunter and dream hunter books. If you visit her website, she gives the reading order. Please keep going, I think you will enjoy the rest of the books much more.

Eek! Um, I own the audiobook for Wicked Lovely, but haven't listened to it yet, so I can't comment on the narration - but I love the book, and the entire series. Is it too dark for you? It's definitely not a fluffy and light series. Faeries are not all wonderful creatures in her world. In fact, most aren't nice at all - at least from a human's perspective.
Having said that, I'm a big believer in putting books down if you're not enjoying them though, so if Marr's world isn't for you - then let it go - as the series continues with its dark theme.

Thanks, I'm not 100% sure what I don't like about it yet.
Believe me, I've read the Fever series and others, and none of them have nice fae either. ;)

Hi so far i think its ok I am about 3/4 done, i really want her to end up with stark, what about you :)
I've got 2 books going, but the PNR I am reading is Deeper by Megan Hart. Very different type of PNR so far and the jury is still out on whether or not I like it. I will say this though, it has me intrigued.
I am about to start
. My BFF is bugging me to read it so we can talk about it, so I switched it on the Nov reading challenge.
I am taking a break from PNR...probably a short break, but a break. I just finished a cute little romance called Sugar Daddy:
and I am starting the next in the series
Currently rereading
as I just discovered a whole new selection of free e-audiobooks from my local library.

Well, any book is going to struggle after Magic Strikes - that's my favorite release of the year.

When you are finished I would love to hear what you thought of it.
I just started Touch the Dark by Karen Chance. And I'm enjoying it do far, I mean I just finished the first chapter, but it's a good sign that I only put it down because I had to go to work, and now that I'm home, I can't wait to get back to it.ANYWAY, this is only 4 books long so I am starting to think ahead to the next series I will read. I have it narrowed down to three so I ask you guys, what do you like?
Kresley Cole, Immortals After Dark series
Patricia Briggs, Mercy Thompson series
Lynsay Sands, Argeneau Vampires series
Thoughts? Opinions?
Thanks!
Hey, Tara. You have to read Midnight's Daughter, too! It's the same universe as Cassie Palmer, and it's awesome. If you're liking TtD, you should like that as well. There are a lot of the same characters, seen from a totally different perspective than in Cassie. The events of the book take place around the same time as parts of Curse the Dawn (book 4).
Lynsay Sands is typical PNR--couples pairing off in each book--but Sands has a great sense of humor. Many of her Argeneau books have made me laugh out loud.
Mercy Thompson is very good UF. Mercy is a very down to earth kind of gal, very sensible and capable. Great characters. The first book is a lil slower in pace, especially if you're coming off of reading Chance who is non-stop action (and lust-inducing men).
Haven't read Cole!
Thanks Michelle. I am definitely going to read Midnight's Daughter, I just figured since the second book in that series is coming out in January, I'd wait until closer so I can read them together.
