I've already started on my May release, it's easy when the ones you're looking forward to show up early in the month like this! :)

Jessica January: The Dark Divine by Bree Despain
February: Gone by Lisa McMann

I haven't been crazy about my selections so far, but March will be better! It seems like all my favorite authors have their releases bunched up in March - May.

Brooke January - Impact by Douglas Preston

I thought Elizabeth Kostova's Swan Thieves was going to be my February book, but apparently that was released in January, too. I'm gonna have to do some hunting, now!

ETA - I just reserved S.J. Parris' Heresy at the library thanks to the February historical fiction thread. It sounds awesome and I haven't heard of it before this.

Elizabeth S (esorenson) As long as we can fudge a little, I'm in. Thanks!

January: The Sorceress of Karres by Eric Flint and Dave Freer
February: The Viper's Nest by Peter Lerangis
March: Keys to the Demon Prison by Brandon Mull
April: Oath of Fealty by Elizabeth Moon
May: A River in the Sky by Elizabeth Peters
and The Double Comfort Safari Club by Alexander McCall Smith
and The God of the Hive by Laurie King
June: Mrs. Jeffries Speaks Her Mind by Emily Brightwell
July: Magic Below Stairs by Caroline Stevermer
August: Artemis Fowl: The Atlantis Complex by Eoin Colfer
September: The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson
October: CryoBurn by Lois McMaster Bujold
November: Towers of Midnight by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson

Jessica I'm a little behind on the new release per month challenge because my library releases them slowly, but I finally got 1.

January: The Dark Divine by Bree Despain

Feel free to fudge it when dealing with library wait times or books that come out at the very end of the month! The idea is to get to more new releases as soon as we realistically can rather than putting them all on the back burner. :)

I'm going to update my above post with the list of new books I finish, but if some of you would rather tell us in a new post about each new release you read, then that works too.

Deb-oh | 1 comments I'll give it a go...
January: Bloodroot

Jessica I get most of my books from the library too, but I figured I'd try and see how it works out. Should we just post our progress in this thread?

Brooke Oh, I'd be interested, (and Preston's book would be my January book), but since I get nearly 100% of my books from the library, and the wait list for new books tends to be long, I might not be able to read the books actually within the month they were released.

This would be a good motivation for reading more newly released sci fi and fantasy, since I noticed most of my genre reading is of stuff written before 2000.

Jessica Sure! I'll play!

I decided to challenge myself to read at least one brand new release each month. So for the rest of this year, whenever I finish a book during the month of its release, I'll be listing it here. Anybody want to play along?

Impact , by Douglas Preston (my review)
Flirt , by Laurell K. Hamilton (my review)
The Long Man , by Steve Englehart (my review)
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter , by Seth Grahame-Smith (my review)
Dragon Keeper , by Robin Hobb (my review)
Dead in the Family , by Charlaine Harris (my review)
A Taint in the Blood , by S.M. Stirling (my review)
Sizzling Sixteen
Heroes Return
