This is a full-color illustrated childrens book published in 2009. Dean writes a story with Trixie as the main character. Part of it rhymes and part of it doesn't - kinda strange. Here's my favorite part with Trixie and her next-door neighbor wiener dog named Jinx:

"Maybe in emergency,
might be okay to drive.
Like when Jinx eats all the peanut butter in the jar,
and gets his snout stuck,
it's in there so far.
Or he sits on his master's false teeth.

Then we're off to the vet
at high speed in the car,
with the teeth in his butt
and his snout in the jar."

When I read the book to my kids I changed the word Butt to Bum - it was still funny :-)

Now that I know there is a sequel planned, it's pretty obvious where the story is heading. I think this part from I, Trixie Who Is Dog gives a pretty good hint about Trixie and Jinx:

"I, Trixie, have a dream,
a fine dream,
as every dog does.

Want to drive a car on the open road.
Me and Jinx on a long desert road
where coyotes sell milk shakes
in cactus cafes.

Drive far up north,
where strange snowmen roam,
where mooses are nice to
dogs far from home.

And way down south,
eating chicken and grits,
with fat friendly gators
in Panama hats."

Maybe in the next picture book Trixie will live her dream, but perhaps driving a bus instead of a car since that's how this story ended.

My son is asking for more Trixie books. I think he mostly likes the biting the bum episodes though. He says Christmas is Good said something about Trixie biting someone's bum - I don't remember that. I wonder when Dean will start featuring Anna in books, maybe she's not interested in writing like Trixie was.

I like this wisdom from I, Trixie Who is Dog:

"Dog is the best of the best things to be.
Sorry you are not dog.
Not everyone can be.

Not everyone should be
or could be
or would be a dog."
