1571381 I'm starting Tell Me Where It Hurts A Day of Humor, Healing and Hope in My Life as an Animal Surgeon by Dr Nick Trout today as my new bedtime book. I love stories about animals and particularly ones about animals and veterinarians so I anticipate liking this one a lot.

Anyone else read it?

1181579 That book sounds like one big sob-fest to me!! I am very emotionally fragile when it comes to stories about animals, even (or especially) when the ending is a happy one. I cry like a baby---can't watch anything on Animal Planet and have to leave the room when commercials for the SPCA come on (you know the one with Sarah McLachlan? It wrecks me every time).

1856301 Hi Mary. Everytime my daughter see that commerical with Sarah McLachlan see wants to call and adopt a dog. We have two dogs from the CARE shelter. But if she had her way we'd have 200 dogs by now.

1571381 When I was in school and couldn't have dogs I used to volunteer at the local humane society--walking dogs and petting cats. It was hard not taking them all home. Of course, as soon as I was able, that changed! (see my username) Now, I can't take any more home because there is no room left!

2140505 Mary - I'm the same way. You can blow away as many people as you want... JUST DON'T HURT THE DOG! I HATE that commercial.

1571381 How do you get any reading done with two JRTs in the house? LOL!

message 8: by DJ (new)

2628150 Its not a problem we go for a two hour walk have lunch and then they know its Mummys reading time....they really like it as we all cuddle up on the TV room couch and they have their afternoon nap...don't worry nobody else can believe ot either but its what we've always done since they respectively came home at 6 weeks old as teeny tiny bundles of love and joy!

1571381 You mean JRT's sleep? Who would've known...

Sorry, have to tease. We call JRTs "jumping beans" at work.

1181579 My sister had a lovely JRT named Archie (may he rest in peace) who was amazingly mellow. It can happen.

Her current JRT is quite neurotic.

2628150 No offence taken Husbands Sister calls them The Jumping Jacks!LOL.
On a wednesday I have 4 of them my two Shania and SusiQ,Grandma Susie (Shanias bio mum and SuziQs Grandma)and baby Emily who is Suziqs full sister by a later litter... So a 10year old,6,2 and 6 months and that's why I am called The Terrier Whispered as my friend who has bread them for over 40 years cannot believe how well I command them.I think this is probably my main talent!!
I got my first JRT when I was 4...and if Husband hadn't been chosen by my mums JRT he knows he wouldn't be here today.
And that's a fact.....Well I had JRTs in my life long before him ...LoL...

1824106 DJ, I'm glad you found your main talent! lol

Mine is people call me to choose their pets for them. I have a knack for getting to know an animal and picking the right personality/ temperament for the right person.

The world can now rest in peace with us on duty!

2941095 When I read "Tell me where it hurts" I rememberd 'All I want for Christmas is a vampire' where a carachter said somethin' like: "Tell me where it hurts, baby." And somethin like "Long in the (somethin') and long in the wang".
P.S. Sorry if it has nothing to do with the topic. And I know it doesn't.
