To all the members of the Supernatural Fiction Readers group, especially Werner and Jim - THANK YOU so very much for reading HAUNTED LILY as your October novel. You all have no idea how much it means to me.
THANK YOU!!!
When I first came upon Goodreads I went straight to the this group as it was so my cup of tea. I love supernatural fiction, as well as real paranormal stories. I am a fan of all things supernatural, and I love biographies, I love to see what makes people tick!
As a little girl who was totally afraid of her own shadow, I find it kind of amusing how much I love the creepy in life and death.
I have had several paranormal experiences in my life. As a teenager I saw the spirit of a Civil War soldier. Scared the tosh out of me, it truly changed me. I'm not a Lily by any means...I think I was just open to the mysteries of what happens after one leaves this plane of exsistance...and I was in the right place at the right time. I am really so thankful for the experiences I have had. They have made me appreciate life and people, the good and the bad.
I am very glad most people find my writing fast-paced and interesting. The truth is I write for myself, I write what I find interesting. I spent a long time working in Hollywood and writing what I thought other people would like or what would sell. That was tough I assure you.
I began writing the original story of Haunted Lily while living with my husband in a small house in N. Hollywood that was still inhabited by it former owner, the ghost of an old man named Sam, who we would see walking down the back hallway of the 1940's house. He was the father of the old lady we rented the house from. She told us he was a very nice man who had a heart attack and died in the house. He adored his house. He never did anything bad or scary, other than the occasional slammed door in the middle of the night, okay that was scary...and I am a true chicken. And he did pat my sister on the head one evening when she was visiting...I have never seen that girl move so fast, she would not sleep alone that night.
At the time I was working for the singer Madonna. My whole world was music and my writing for her ICON Magazine was all music oriented. Yet I kept having a recourring dream about being in an abandonded high school and following a naked teenage girl, a ghost, through the darkened hallways as the spirits of other teenagers watched us. It was one of those dreams that really gave me the chills and stayed with me, becoming the basis of the story.
I put alot of my personal experiences in Haunted Lily. I have a website SPOOKPALACE.COM where I have put much information about the story and some of the real locations.
I have met so many amazing people from writing this book. I seem to have made a few fans out of real Ghost Hunters. People have made tribute videos to the story, and sent me art, paintings of some of the ghosts. That is so incredible to me, that my words could become visual to other people. I love that so much.
My second book ENCHANTED SHADOWS is finished and should be released soon...fingers crossed. It is also a paranormal story, so I really hope you all will read it someday. The follow-up to Haunted Lily is called 'Haunted Lily - The Dark Circus'. It delves into the other side, the world of Varton Muntz and answers many questions in the lives of Darby and Lily.
If anyone has any questions about the story or characters I would be more than happy to answer all. I will check back on this thread often.
Once again, thank you all for your kind words and taking the time to visit my spooky little world. I have never read Hell House, so I am looking forward to chatting with everyone about the book.
Hauntingly Yours,
Sidney
