Interesting post. Reading a bit between the lines I got the impression she didn't like it because it wasn't like the others she had read.One complaint mentioned was that we knew Miles would get out of the mess ahead of time. That's a bit silly IMO. Of course he gets out of it. These are adventure stories. The hero always finds the way. The fun is in seeing how he manages to do it. :)
Some of you probably participated in - or at least read - Jo Walton's re-read of the Miles Vorkosigan series on tor.com. Unlike us, she actually read the books in publication order (rather than internal chronology). I found her posts really interesting because she's clearly very familiar with the series, and because her opinions are occasionally very different from mine.
Case in point here --- she didn't like Cetaganda, one of my favorite books in the early part of the series. Here's her post:

Also, a quick reminder: the next book in the internal chronology is Ethan of Athos. The discussion will start on November 15th, so there's still plenty of time to read the book!
