2878675 Amy I was thinking the bracelet removal was kinda rewarding. Early on it was something they didn't want, but it also may have to do with using Claire to torture her now that people knew how closely bonded it made them. Considering Oliver's attempt to do that. So as always the result may be good for others, but I think Amelie is always looking out for herself first.

I see Michael and Claire as brother and sister. They are both very practical and rational whereas Shane and Eve are high strung, high maintenance people. The mix of personalities is excellent, definitely keeps you on your toes.

Biting someone and drinking their blood would be a very personal thing. If that vamp is a stranger or someone you don't care about or who doesn't care about you then it's an invasion of personal space and is effectively conveying the message that the vamp is superior because they are higher up on the food chain and you are just food. It requires trust, that the vamp woun't get too carried away and either kill you or possibly turn you against your will. It would make you feel powerless so being bitten would be a big deal especially in a place like Morganville where the vampires used to abuse their power to keep the humans (or cattle) under control.

I found Amelie and Oliver's relationship intriguing. They are friends and allies but also potential enemies. I like that Oliver repositioned himself as a potential enemy again to snap Amelie out of her suicidal grieving for Sam so that she can return to her duties of overseeing and protecting Morganville.

I instantly took a disliking to Kim, her attitude was inexcusable. I couldn't understand why Eve worshipped her. Kim's media project to expose Morganville was brilliant but I expected her obsession with Shane would lead to an Ada-like attempt on Claire's life, thankfully that didn't happen. We don't need everyone to be jealous of Claire, thinking she's stealing their potential boyfriends. When Myrnin handed over the tape of Shane and Claire and Claire asked whether he had watched it his reaction was suspicious, he may have said no but I wouldn't be surprised if he was lying. Claire is the only person who understands him, his theories and his mental state why wouldn't he be interested in her romantically speaking?

I was a bit unsure of Amelie's motives in changing the status of the group. I can understand making Shane and Eve neutral but not Claire. Claire is an asset to Amelie, Claire saved her life. I would think Amelie would want to keep her close, keep that connection through the bracelet but maybe she sees that as slavery.

Now that Ada is gone and the magic surrounding Morganville is down, I wonder how things will change.

2878675 I read it and really enjoyed this one. The Shane and Kim thing. Well for me it felt like he never told the whole story about it. When Michael was putting him on the spot I it felt kinda like he knew the history and what was going on. Plus Kim had some crazy stalker type crush going with him and well most people don't get that way over a one night stand. Especially one they supposedly ended. I think Claire deserves the whole story.

I agree about Michael, b/c the issue was Kim's life. But for Michael it was possibly his life. If the world decides to clean out Morganville the humans will most likely get to leave it is going to be the vamps they are attempting to kill off. I don't think he ever meant it as if he wasn't with them. Michael has not ever been like that. I also think Eve's reactions to Michael are a little melodramatic. This is the second time she has freaked out on him for pretty much being a vamp. If she wants to be with him she has to be with the him that's available and that is not the human Michael.

I know Eve is suppose to be Claire's best friend, but sometimes it seems more like Michael is. The seem to have a connection. I never think romantic, but he is always helping her and giving advice and listening to her. At least in the last couple of books.

Oh and Michelle no totally not weird about Myrnin. I totally have a crush on him too. Plus yes absolutely about him not draining Claire. He is suppose to be so unstable, but does care about Clair and uses restraint not to kill her even considering his acting as if that kind of thing were no big deal.

I don't know about the bite. I just thought it had to do with it being kind of degrading. They all talk about it as if it is insulting and humiliating so that was what I thought they were upset about, but it could be something else.

355739 I bought and read it today. I thought it was great, but I couldn't agree more with the Eve and Shane complaints. Like Claire said, Michael was right. Everyone had a lot to lose if Kim's videos got out. I thought his was the more practical response and I couldn't believe it became an us/them argument.

Eve has been my least favorite character since the beginning. Her reactions are very childish.

Shane. Oh, Shane. I like him...until he starts amping up the macho. I get most frustrated with him when he turns on Michael. They're best buds...until they disagree on something and then Shane treats him like some low-life. I hate that aspect. Would it really have been better if Michael just stayed a ghost, never able to leave the house and dying a painful death every morning? The number of times he's saved their asses, they should be THRILLED he turned vamp!

Monica hugged Claire? Jaw-dropper moment.

I miss Sam.

But my favorite Morganville topic is Myrnin. YES, I want vamp bunny slippers. I also want the pirate boots.

I wonder what Myrnin biting Claire will mean? It seems to be far more serious than just a lil blood from how everyone was reacting, including the madman himself. I'm actually quite proud of him for not draining her, considering the pain he was in.

And is it wrong that I have a huge crush on Myrnin? Because I do. Monster-sized.

2496970 Yeah me too. But really as much as I would like it settled with the whole shane n' kim thing. I don't want her to come back, or want to have to hear about her anymore. Except maybe something about her being stangled by her straight jacket.

1847538 Sigh, I know. I really wanted to strangle Shane, and I love Shane. I still want an answer about his feelings for Kim and am unhappy with the way Claire seem to just let it go.

And I agree that the trip to the radio station was about backing up Michael, rather than saving Kim. I don't think they felt the videos were a killing offense - as horrible as it was. I did like that Claire didn't feel bad that Kim was basically straight jacket material though. =)

2496970 I don't think Claire ran to her rescue as much as she was there for her friends, who were running to her rescue. Eve was freaking out, how could Claire just walk away?

Really I can't get over how Shane acted with Claire about Kim. The fact that he couldn't answer Michael's question kills me. Why Shane, why? Very frustrating!

1420355 Yeah, I though that that was how Morley would get away. I would tell him to run now.

Eve is my least favorite character and has been for awhile. She was completely stupid and childish when it came to Michael. He's always been true to her and Shane and Claire.

For gosh sakes, Kim taped them in there bedroom! Why were they so forgiving? Especially Claire. I understand Claire's need to save everyone, but come on! Claire couldn't even stand to be in the same room as Kim, so for her to want to run to her rescue seemed false and unbelievable.

1847538 Okay, has anyone else finished this? I devoured it like all of the other books in this series, and I loved it.

It took a while for the main story line to be revealed, but you just knew it would be centered around Kim. The idea of her making Morganville Big Brother show was brilliant, and horrible. I felt for all of the roommates when they discovered the cameras in their house; such a unbelievable invasion of privacy and (in Eve's case) trust.

As for our fabulous foursome, this installment definitely brought some serious internal turmoil to the house. First and foremost - Eve. She annoyed me in Carpe Corpus when she turned on Claire for doing what she had to, and I like her even less now. Her reaction to Michael throughout the drama was heartbreaking. In fact I was annoyed with Shane and Claire as well when they all demanded Michael's allegiance regarding the videos because I don't think it was ever a question of "us against them". Michael was always on their side, but as the one vampire of the group, he had the most to lose should their secrets get out and they shouldn't have judged him for that. And Eve's argument that she just wanted plain old Michael - a version of Michael she'd never had - wasn't fair. Michael has more than proved his loyalty to them and his love for her, so I reckon she's bloody lucky that he's put up with her as long as he has. Shane, Shane, Shane. Pulling the stereotypical male idiocy card here, his reactions to Kim and his need to save her were tough, even as he tried to convince Claire she was the only one that mattered. His inability to answer Michael's question about why he cared so much stung, and was too easily overlooked by Claire, IMHO. I loved Claire's reactions to Kim. She knew she was being irrational, but I could empathize with her. And I loved her exchange with Shane about how she never wanted to share him, not even in the past. So sweet.

Now on to another long six month wait to discover how they get Shane and Eve out of their potential death sentences (although with Ada gone, can't Morley and his crew just take off?).

And how badly do you want a pair of vampire bunny slippers?
