1660443 Definitely. It's a good story too, add great effects and we have a movie worth seeing.

903390 I liked the original Clash of the Titans, too! I'd definitely be interested in seeing the remake; I'm sure the special effects would be a lot more realistic this time around.

1660443 I should have bought stock in Marvel, from all the comicbooks I've bought over the years, numerous titles.
You'll think I'm crazy but I once wrote to Stan Lee begging for an Iron Man movie, telling him that half the female Iron Man readers in America are in love with Tony Stark. He never wrote back but I did get my movie!
I've got my family into Marvel comics. Anthony thought I was a geek, but after reading some, he realized what great stories and spectacular artwork they have. Which is why Marvel can make a lot more movies, they have a wealth of stories already there, they don't have to try and force a sequel out of one good story.
When Eric was little we'd read together. Choosing characters and doing the voices, it was a lot of fun. I know he can never read a Marvel comic or see a Marvel movie without thinking of me.

1660443 The Cure How a Father Raised $100 Million--And Bucked the Medical Establishment--In a Quest to Save His Children

The remarkable true story of one father's race against time to found a business that would cure his sick children.

John and Aileen Crowley were on top of the world. With a brand-new Harvard Business School degree, three beautiful children, a new house, and a great job, they thought that they had just entered the best years of life. Then doctors diagnosed their two youngest children with Pompe disease, and everything changed.

Fifteen-month-old Megan and five-month-old Patrick were given only months to live. Pompe disease, the Crowleys were told, was so rare that no company had bothered spending the money needed to sponsor research. There was no cure, no treatment—only the gradual degeneration of muscle so that at the end, the children would be unable to walk, eat, or even breathe on their own. It was a nightmare the Crowleys could hardly comprehend.

But John Crowley refused to accept this death sentence—and in the absence of other options, he made his own. Determined to find scientists who could develop a replacement enzyme that would keep the disease at bay and his children alive, Crowley quit his job as a financial consultant and invested himself and his life savings in a biotechnology start-up company. In just over a year, Novazyme Pharmaceuticals, Inc., went from an endowment of $37,000 to $27 million, and was sold to Genzyme Corp. soon thereafter for a news-breaking $137.5 million. But the struggle wasn't over yet, and scientific setbacks, accusations of conflict of interest, business troubles, and the children's own worsening condition would test the limits of John and Aileen's minds and hearts as they fought towards a cure.

With deft prose and devastating clarity, Pulitzer Prize-winning Wall Street Journal reporter Geeta Anand weaves together the disparate threads of this remarkable story of cutting-edge science; of business acumen and daring; and of the indomitable fighting spirit of a family that refuses to give in.

Heart-wrenching yet triumphant, The Cure takes readers from the boardrooms and laboratories to hospital beds and kindergarten classrooms. With its captivating and ultimately deeply uplifting narrative, The Cure is a wholly American story of commerce and technology, of determination and daring, and of family and the power of a belief in happy endings.

1660443 Iron Man 2 trailer finally released:
http://www.worstpreviews.com/headline.ph...

Starring Robert Downey Jr., Mickey Roarke, Don Cheadle, Gwenneth Paltrow and Scarlett Johanssen, this is going to be the movie of the year! RDjr captured the essence of Tony Stark's personality perfectly in Iron Man, I expect nothing less in Iron Man 2. I am so excited!

From worstpreview news:
You might have noticed that Iron Man has a round chest piece for most of the trailer, but when he teams with War Machine, the piece is triangular.

In the comics, that's Tony Stark's Extremis armor. He injects his nervous system with a modified techno-organic virus to save his own life after being critically injured during a battle. This fused Stark's armor to his body, allowing him to store the inner layers of the Iron Man armor in the hollows of his bones as well as control it through direct brain impulses. The Extremis enhancement turns Stark into a cyborg and effectively functions like his second skin. It was later stated that the Extremis endowed Stark with a "healing factor."
The new movie is once again directed by Jon Favreau and is scheduled to hit theaters on May 7th, 2010.

1660443 Inspired by a true story, Extraordinary Measures, starring Harrison Ford and Brendan Fraser comes to theaters January 22nd, 2010.
Plot Summary: From his working class roots, John Crowley (Brendan Fraser) has finally begun to taste success in corporate America. Supported by his beautiful wife Aileen (Keri Russell) and their three children, John is on the fast track. But just as his career is taking off, Crowley walks away from it all when his two youngest children, Megan and Patrick, are diagnosed with a fatal disease. With Aileen by his side, harnessing all of his skill and determination, Crowley teams up with a brilliant, but unappreciated and unconventional scientist, Dr. Robert Stonehill (Harrison Ford). Together they form a bio-tech company focused on developing a life-saving drug. One driven to prove himself and his theories, the other by a chance to save his children, this unlikely alliance eventually develops into mutual respect as they battle the medical and business establishments in a fight against the system – and time.

1660443 They're called 'trailers' because they were originally shown after the movie. I have no idea when that was, because I've only known them before the movie.

I agree about the Fantasia connection, tenuous at best. It's just another big action, blow stuff up kind of movie.

If I have to do a comedy, I prefer dark. I like both main actors in Serious Moonlight so I may rent it eventually.

Again, love the main actors in Everybody's Fine, so I'll rent that too.

1660443 Meg Ryan and Timothy Hutton in 'Serious Moonlight' in theaters now.

Plot Summary: After she arrives at her country home for a romantic weekend getaway, things don't go exactly as planned for high-powered Manhattan lawyer Louise (Meg Ryan). First, her husband of 13 years, Ian (Timothy Hutton), tells her that he's leaving her for a younger woman (Kristen Bell). Then, one thing leads to another, and pretty soon Ian finds himself held captive by an oddly cool Louise who explains that she won't release him until he professes his love for her and commits to working on their marriage. And that's when things REALLY start to go wrong. The unexpected arrival of an opportunistic young gardener (Justin Long) and Ian's impatient mistress only serve to complicate the crisis even further, while somehow forcing Louise and Ian to reckon with their past and realistically deal with their future.

1660443 Nicholas Cage in The Sorcerer's Apprentice:
Balthazar Blake (Cage) is a master sorcerer in modern-day Manhattan trying to defend the city from his arch-nemesis, Maxim Horvath (Molina). Balthazar can't do it alone, so he recruits Dave Stutler (Baruchel), a seemingly average guy who demonstrates hidden potential, as his reluctant protege.

The sorcerer gives his unwilling accomplice a crash course in the art and science of magic, and together, these unlikely partners work to stop the forces of darkness. It'll take all the courage Dave can muster to survive his training, save the city and get the girl as he becomes "The Sorcerer's Apprentice."

The new film is directed by Jon Turteltaub (National Treasure) and is scheduled to hit theaters on July 16th, 2010.

Thanks, Jackie. I usually enjoy "inspiring true stories". Morgan Freeman looks perfect for the part of Nelson Mandela. Great casting. Great title! "Invictus".

From Wiki:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Invictus
=========================================================
"Invictus" is a short poem by the English poet William Ernest Henley.
The title is Latin for "unconquered".
The Poem: Invictus:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Background of the poem's author:
"At the age of 12, Henley became a victim of tuberculosis of the bone. In spite of this, in 1867 he successfully passed the Oxford local examination as a senior student. His diseased foot had to be amputated directly below the knee; physicians had announced that the only way to save his life was to amputate. Henley persevered and survived with one foot intact. He was discharged in 1875, and was able to lead an active life for nearly 30 years despite his disability. With an artificial foot, he lived until the age of 53. 'Invictus' was written from a hospital bed."

1660443 Not sure if this qualifies, but I'll keep on the lookout.
Invictus:
The film tells the inspiring true story of how Nelson Mandela joined forces with the captain of South Africa's rugby team to help unite their country. Newly elected President Mandela knows his nation remains racially and economically divided in the wake of apartheid. Believing he can bring his people together through the universal language of sport, Mandela rallies South Africa's underdog rugby team as they make an unlikely run to the 1995 World Cup Championship match.
