I would really like Zoey to get a grip and stop acting like she has never seen a boy.It really gets old.
And I know there are about 2 black characters and one of them speaks some form of English..would be nice if one of the black characters wasn't a stereotype
Ha ha ha ... "I'm going to throw the book (then go, pick it up and finish it so I can tell you all how much it sucks)" - I think I'll be doing the same, but with this one. I don't think I can go through with another one. I always walk away thinking they kind of sucked, but I keep reading. Wonder why that is. My problem is that everyone thinks Zoey sh!t don't stink. She has many physical boyfriends and yet her true one (Erik) is being jealous for no reason?! I'm getting irritated with everyone calling this 17yr old "High-Priestess", the twins calling each other "twin" is so annoying.
Nicki - I've never read the Vampire Diaries ( I watch the show). Is this series frustrating too?
Woo-hoo! The fans are frustrated! Hello P.C. Cast, what are you doing to this fabulous series? But okay giving her some credit, we all knew Zoeys having umpteen boyfriends had to come to an end at some point or another. So yes, even though Erik's major personalty makeover is frustrating, she had to do something for the process of elimination. Killing Heath though? Come on, he's way to cute and adorable.
But I have to say that after the ending of the book, I HATE WHEN MAIN CHARACTERS DIE! Death is death, even in fantasy!! So in the next book when the nerd herd figures out some way to give Zoey back her soul, I'm going to throw the book (then go, pick it up and finish it so I can tell you all how much it sucks). If anyone has ever read the Vampire Diaries, you know what I mean..
I'm struggling with this one. I want to finish it but it's to hard. The writing is bad. I don't like how up until now Erik was this wonderful person, now he is an @sshat and every thinks he's a jerk! What makes him a jerk? I'm confused. He sure has put up with a lot from Zoey. Not only does she have all these boys in love with her but she loves them back! Not just emotionally either. Have her friends forgotten that she also slept with her teacher and Erik still forgave her! She dumps him and he moves on at least he did it when they weren't together. I don't understand how Zoey can be so mad while she is sleeping in the same bed as Stark and Kissing Kalona (in her dreams) and Heath. I haven't gotten to the part where Heath says "I heart you" but I understand how frustrating that would be. It seems Cast tries to hard to sound young. Most of what they say I've never heard anyone talk that way!
I stayed with the series in hopes that the writing would get better. I do like the story line. But the books seem to be going down hill.
you know, I love the house of night series but I got really sick of the love triangles. It kinda annoyed me that she could just pick a guy even after everything that happened. Maybe I'll just wait until someone tells me in which book she decides to stick with one to read the rest...am I the only one that feels this way?? Othewise I loved them:)
I really got into them because they are based in Tulsa/Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and that is where I am from so I knew exactly where the places were like Union where my aunt went to school and the muskogee turnpike that heads to Talequah(cherokee nation capital ansd where I was born). That was pretty great!
WTF? I just finished Tempted and I am so conflicted about how I feel about the book as a whole. I didn't think it was good...I didn't think it was bad...meh.Did anyone read all of these books back to back? I flew through the first 5 books, but I had quite a lag time between Hunted and Tempted. I almost felt like some totally new author wrote Tempted. Maybe it is because I have read so many PNR books in between, but I I thought the writing had a different feel. Did anyone else feel that way?
A lot of trivial things got on my nerves in this book--things I was able to overlook in the previous books. For instance--when Heath says: I heart you. --I know it is a book, but who talks like that? and Zoey's all too annoying "Ah, hell" and "Well, hell". I felt like I was watching Scooby Doo when something bad happens and Scooby says: Rur-ro-Raggy.
I didn't so much have a problem with all Zoey's guys, because I felt like they all had a function in her life--Heath was her life force, her rock-he provided sustenance and support. Stark was her protector and wanna be love interest. Eric used to be portrayed as the perfect boyfriend prototype--what happened to him in this book. I thought Eric behaved totally out of character in this book--I didn't think it was believable that he would have ran to that slut right after Zoey dumped him. He was totally justified in his jealously IMO. Didn't they portray him as the mature voice of reason and guidance in previous books?
Finally, Kalone represents temptation.
I thought there was a lot of filler in the book that was unnecessary. On the other hand, I felt like it ended abruptly and I sat there thinking WTF? I just hope the next one gets back on track.
My problem with this series is the fact Zoey has so many boyfriends, how unrealistic, but anyway i still really love this series. i am half way through the book, but have only heard bad things about the ending.

i havent read the wicked lovely series, so I cant compare them. but yes, the House of night/Marked series is a YA series and it is one of my favorite YA series I have read. Without giving too much away, it is about a teenage girl living as a "normal" human girl and one day she is "marked" while she is at school. All those who are marked are forced to leave their human lives and move to a type of boarding school for new vampires. Not all new vampires live through the transition and must have help from other vampires. The main female character is extraordinary in many ways and the series basically follows her through the obstacles and her successes in her new life. I highly recommend you read it--it is very good.
The order is:

I had forgotten about Aphroditie's moon! That's right - she got turned back to human, but Nyx said she still had her visions because she never took a gift away once given. I think being turned back to human would be one big gift...removed - but it happened when she was saving Stevie Rae so some kind of soul thing there as well?
IDK - I'm still upset with the way this book was written. I have really enjoyed the series and marked the release of Tempted onto my calendar and was so disappointed. Did anyone else get the feeling it was not thought through and rushed. As if the Casts thought I don't really feel like doing this now, let's get it over with - 'let's get rid of Erik' - bam, one page and he's out. Then a bunch of 'blah, blah, blah - page filler, page filler' and then so long Heath (make room for the pull between Kalona and Stark). The End. I really hope the next book makes this one completely worth it because of course, I'll read it :)
This series in on my list of books to read...but what are they like? Are they technically young adult? I read the Wicked Lovely series and loved it, even though it's aimed for a younger age group.
I agree with Amy. I thought her tats were gone b/c her soul is not there. Your soul is essentially you. So when she followed Heath with her soul her tats left too. I think she is going to come back and have all her tats. But also it may say the Nyx doesn't take away a gift, but she took away Aphroditie's moon. Even if she gave her the visions back. So I think she could take them if she wasn't on the right path. Who knows.
I heart you guys, lol!! Maybe her tats were taken because she is not one the right path. To many men fall in her path to stay on it. However, it is said 100 times that she never takes away. I am just going to the library next time, I will not purchase another book!
I am so glad that there are others out there that feel the same way I did about this book. I was really addicted to this series but I had a hard time with Zoey juggling all her "guys". When Kalona was added to the picture, I was thinking "Oh Please!" I was OK with all the POV's in this book but I am having a really hard time with the ending. I am heart broken and confused at why they decided to end the book in that way.
Yeah I had no idea about all that either, maybe Cast thought she had better erase all the tat's and start over again before Zo was just one big walking tatoo.
I agree with you both, I didn't hate it but didn't love it either. I was actually very angry the way it all ended. It was so frustrating. I will continue to buy and read the next books as they come out, but with high hopes that they will get better.
I think her tats are gone because her soul is gone from her body not because Nyx has taken back her gifts. I bet when her soul returns her tats will too.
Oh and did anybody get the whole 'she lost her soul because she called unto spirit when it was too late for Heath'? AND all her tats are gone? I just thought that was stupid. They have said throughout all the books that Nix never takes back a gift (Hello, Neferet) yet her tats are gone??
I agree with you Emma - I didn't hate the book at all, but I definitely didn't 'heart' it either :)!

I don't get the "..."Kasey, You are not alone in the 'not crying over Heath' thing. I am a crier and im not ashamed to admit that i wept like a baby when Stevie Ray died... but with Heath's death? it just past right through me. I thought i wasnt getting all emotional b\c i read another book just before this one, and cried my heart out, up to the piont of emotional draining. But now i think my lack of tears was due to the fact that this book was kinda mild ant not very gripping. I hope the next one will pull me right back on the emotional roller coaster!
I felt that Tempted was not up to the usual standard of writing. What I liked about the book was Stevie Rae's storyline. It was well thought out, interesting and kept me glued to the book. Zoey, on the other hand, annoys me. I realized these are teenagers, but all the boyfriend angst I could have done without. The girl needs to get a grip. I was saddened by the death in the book, that took me by surprise and was heartbreaking as that particular character was a favorite of mine.I just felt lost and frustrated at the end. I am all for a good cliff hanger, but this to me felt unfinished as if the authors just threw up their hands and decided they were tired of writing it. Here's hoping the next book will tie up all the loose ends. I did not hate this book, I just did not love it.I must say that one of my favourite Characters in this series is Aphrodite, there are not many times when a character i na book can make me laugh out loud, but her sarcasm has me in stitches
LOL Lara I agree about the hearting things. I kept asking that too. I even asked my baby sis since they are her age if that is the new thing or something she said not so much. I don't get the "pop" language thing. It was kind of random. They didn't say it before and it picked up right where the other left off and suddenly everyone in the entire book picked up some new word they had to use at every opening. I about died when one of the guys said I heart you. Seriously I couldn't figure that out.I also was trying to figure the Erik thing out. Not that he needed to be with Zoey, but why with the instant everyone hates him. I didn't get it. Besides I honestly think he had a reason to be jealous. She was supposedly actually in a relationship with him and well we all know about everyone else and she cheated on him with Blake and then got back together with him. She should have just broke up with him.
I like Stark and think he is probably a good match, but yeah I don't think after everything else he would just up and walk away like that. Besides their sorta relationship had only been a few days. Just kinda weird to me how they make the characters so I'm not finding the right word so I will leave it at that.
Funny thing is to me I saw that Heath was going to die early on in the book. It was because the writer was being so nice to his character actually. I knew something bad was going to happen. It seems like she kinda makes the character a little to perfect when she is going to do something mean to them. It feels like it is meant to force an emotional thing out of it. I don't know just me. I'm usually a crier, but I didn't cry I just kept looking at the book thinking "What?" I didn't know what to think honestly.
Well there is a big mess of my frustrations with the book. But I'm still hoping for the series to work out. Maybe I'm stubborn, b/c I will still read the next one.
The series is just now eh for me. I whipped through the first 5 and was excited (ok somewhat) for Tempted, but it was a huge letdown with too much filler, too many differing POV, no real plot progression, stupid high Vamp Council members who didn't even attempt to find the truth, and I was REALLY pissed at what happened to heath. I didn't really like him at first, thought he was annoying, but he grew on me, and I really felt that of all her 'relationships' Heath was the best. He knew her inside and out, and accepted who she was without question. That type of love is hard pressed to find and keep. It should have been Erik as far as I am concerned. Or even Stark for that matter. It seems like they are supposed to be each other's love (her and stark) but it felt so forced, and just 'written' in, and then we are supposed to just believe it because they said a bunch of times. The language bothers me, I doubt real people actually talk as these teens do, but what do I know? I don't remember how I talked at 18.. lolStevie Ray could have bit the dust and I would have been ok with it, if the Casts felt they had to kill off some characters.
I'll keep reading I'm sure, just to see how far stupid Zoey will go... I'm nothing if not a glutton for punishment :D
LOL I agree the I heart you was horrible. But I have to admit I was super sad that Heath died, I never cared much for him before but felt like I got to know him a little better in this book.
Definitely agree with y'all! I have mixed emotions about it, but overall I feel it was a let down. It felt as if it truly was nothing but a bunch of filler for the next book. And that's a long wait just to get what we got in return. They changed Erik into an ass and pretty much wrote him out in a blink. He may be back, but does anyone want him to really? I have to admit - I am not sad to see Heath go. It was really the only way for their childhood connection to be broken and we all know there was really no way she could end up with him in the end. AND what was up with everyone 'hearting' things?? I cringed at some of the language in the previous books - but all the 'I heart this' and 'I heart that' just made me gag. I will read the next one, but I really really hope it redeems the series.
The ending was very frustrating to me. Zoey pissed me off as usual, is it really so hard to make up your mind? really? IDK, I will keep reading to find out what happens, but I was so angry at how the book ended.
I can't stand the series now. The book before this one was good but after what happened at the end of Tempted I can't read anymore. I liked Heath.
I didn't like all of the POVs, these bits could have been shortened as I found myself speed reading through them and then wondering why they were included.
Kasey I agree with you, the rollercoaster personalities were just weird - enough with the drama all ready. I couldn't see Stark just walking off knowing how much danger Zoey was in, it didn't make sense especially considering he's supposed to be her warrior bodyguard. And now I guess Zoey only has one 'boyfriend' not including Kalona so there should be less boyfriend trouble after Kalona is dealt with but I don't think I can forgive the authors for the events in this book so that's it for me. Addiction cured.
I did think there were some unnecessary filler type stuff in the book. I personally have a hard time keeping up with all the guys and who she likes and doesn't like and what is the deal with always falling for the lines of the bad guys i.e. Blake and now Kalona. Plus the three boyfriends one minute they are nice guys then they are jerks then they are nice guys again. I don't know the personality roller coasters and crazy. (sometimes it feels to me like they are trying to force drama into it kinda abruptly, not sure that's really the word I'm looking for, but it works I guess)But I liked getting to see some of the other points of view in the story. I think the overall idea is great. I still have hope that they are going to pull this story together. I really want them too it is a good idea and has great potential.
I thought the book was a huge let down!! I felt like the book could have had way more content. I did not mind the multi POV's, I did however mind that the book just replayed the last 5 books. It was like here is what happened in the past, plus like 2 days of being current stuff, then the end. The book could have been so much better!! Makes me not want to read the next one.

I have a real love/hate relationship with this series. I've bought the book, and I will read it at some point this month, but it isn't calling to me quite yet.
finished reading it yesterday. I am not sure what I think of it yet, because I have mixed feelings towards it.
Oh, and although it's probably assumed, I would recommend putting a Spoiler declaration on the title for once the discussion kicks off.
I know everyone in these groups knows what you mean, and I've worked out some of the acronyms - POV=point of view, HEA=happy every after, but I get lost in a lot of people's posts because I cant work out what the heck the letters stand for. So, what is PC please?
