1377901 Ah well I'm back and with another question.

A few days ago i finished reading At Grave's End (Night Huntress, #3)and i was very surprised how long it had been since i had a sob feast with a book.
I cried till i was puffy thinking of Bones.

So, What's your top tear jerker?

I'm feeling a bit masochistic for my next good read. ;)

2513186 Shadow Kiss (Vampire Academy, #3)

Without a doubt! Bawled my eyes out. Was still emotional days after reading this one. I think that's why it is one of my all time favourites.

Nophoto-u-25x33 These are my tear jerkers:

Les Miserables (Classics Illustrated Notes)SurrenderRoad Of The Dead (Push Fiction)A Thousand Splendid Suns
Les Miserables by Victor Hugo, Surrender by Sonya Hartnett,Road Of The Dead by Kevin Brooks and A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini.

message 4: by Jessica (new)

2423624 Josie so agree with you

message 5: by Laura (new)

1648704 I agree on Shadow Kiss--here are a few of mine--

Outlander (Outlander, #1) My Old True Love The Forest of Hands and Teeth (Audio CD) Lover Awakened (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #3) The Book Thief

message 6: by DarkHeart (new)

1847538 Ugh... I cry at the drop of a hat, but here are a few I've read this year that had aspects that really got to me:

Prey (Shifters, #4) Shadow Kiss (Vampire Academy, #3) Succubus Dreams (Georgina Kincaid, #3) Lover Avenged (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #7) Magic Strikes (Kate Daniels, #3)

message 7: by Tina (new)

1420355 I balled my eyes out when I was reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Harry Potter, #7) . I haven't with any other books as much as I cried reading this one.

I did recently shed some tears while I read The Hunger Games (Hunger Games, #1) .

message 8: by FlibBityFLooB (new)

2505272 I have a shelf on goodreads for books that made me cry. My biggest cry was reading The Host.

message 9: by Joseph (new)

1313648 There are two books that I like to reread partially because every time I do they still make me cry.
Charlotte's Web
Bridge to Terabithia

message 10: by Melissa (new)

325271 Just read Before Midnight A Retelling of "Cinderella" by Cameron Dokey last night. Stayed up WAY to late because it was short and I couldn't put it down. I cried my eyes out several times. It's really just the Cinderella story with a few twists, but man, I was crying like a baby. It was an excellent book. Dokey is so poetic and magical sometimes.

message 11: by Jessica (new)

2423624 I don't cry very easily - I think my tear ducts are broken or clogged from years of neglect - but Richelle Mead has away of ripping your heart out your chest.

message 12: by Susan (Suz) (new)

2408497 Oh gosh I so have to agree with you Aleh At Grave's End had me totally balling my eyes out! I cry at the drop of a hat too so most books will make me cry from sadness and even hapiness!

message 13: by Jessica (new)

2423624 Marley and Me. Jesus I was depressed for days...! My husband kept asking what was wrong with me and my dogs were overly spoiled for a month.

Are her books YA?

message 15: by new_user (new)

1365355 She has a YA and two adult series.

message 16: by Shannon (new)

2016128 I think just about every BDB book made me cry at some point. V's book was especially hard to get through.

message 17: by DarkHeart (new)

1847538 Shannon - V's story broke my heart, but I think I cried the most for him in Butch's book during the balcony scene at his penthouse. Sigh...

Jessica - Yeah, I saw too much of both of my dog's in Marley. I chuckled along with his antics through the first 95% of the book and then spent the next several days cuddled up with my pups trying to get them to agree to never leave me. LOL

Oh, and I forgot to mention Amy Lane's series. Those books left me a sobbing mess.
Vulnerable (Little Goddess, #1)Wounded (Little Goddess, #2)Bound (Little Goddess, #3)

message 18: by Anna (new)

2825517 Can't say that a book can make me cry so easy.Coming to think of it,the only book that ever made me cry was the last book of Harry Potter. What with all the deaths and the fact that it was the last book,i was crying before i realised it.

message 19: by Josie (new)

2513186 DarkHeart wrote: "Shannon - V's story broke my heart, but I think I cried the most for him in Butch's book during the balcony scene at his penthouse. Sigh..."

I think that was one of my favourite BDB moment too. Very poignant!

2295424 Oh, I used to not cry easely. I could watch the biggest disasters and human tragedies on the news and go like: 'Oh, bummer'.
But now that I'm a bit older, I notice I cry a lot more easely (especially before a certain time in the month...).
There are quite some books I cried about but I must say I don't recall many. The most recent tear jerkers however are:

Midnight's Daughter (Dorina Basarab, #1) Oh the ending... I was devastated. I couldn't read anything else for a while cause I needed to get over this book...

Lover Eternal (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #2)Lover Awakened (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #3)Lover Revealed (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #4)Lover Unbound (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #5)Lover Enshrined (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #6) I didn't expect it but the BDB books have turned out to be quite the tear jerkers. It's mostly one or two very small scenes in the books but they're very impressive.

Succubus Dreams (Georgina Kincaid, #3) I absolutely needed a hanky when Georgina got to hear Maggie's 'great news'. Shocked and appaled I was, shocked and appaled. And sad.

Living with the Dead (Women of the Otherworld, #9) Two scenes with Hope and Karl and one scene with Robyn and Finn had me crying.

A Rush of Wings (The Maker's Song, #1) Poor, poor Dante...

message 22: by DarkHeart (new)

1847538 Ugh... Dante, how could I have forgotten Dante. His youth was definitely heartbreaking. And yes, Maggie's news in Succubus Dreams crushed me. I read that and Vincent's Prey, one right after the other, and I was emotionally drained.

And sister mine, you've got me concerned now, as you know I'm starting the Karen Chance books this month. I'll remember to have some tissue handy when I get to that series. ;)

message 23: by Mel (new)

2295424 Don't be concerned sister mine: the tear jerking for the Cassie Palmer series didn't start till Curse the Dawn (4th book).
The sequel of Midnight's Daughter will come out the 5th of January. It would be great if you can squeeze all 5 of Chance's books in the next two months. You'll be just in time for Death's Mistress (the waiting has been agonizing!).

1648704 DarkHeart wrote: "Ugh... I cry at the drop of a hat, but here are a few I've read this year that had aspects that really got to me:"

Oh, I forgot about Magic Strikes--definitely cried in that one.

message 25: by Shannon (new)

2524324 My top tear-jerkers have to be:

The Host - The last 50 pages were so emotional!
Born of Night - Nykyrian, I just wanted to hug him.
An Enchanted Season - Tammy and Nate's story by Nalini Singh *sigh* It was only a short story, but it had an impact on me for sure!
Lover Awakened - Z, my fave, poor man just felt so bad for him and how he was treated. Plus, Tohr suffered in this book as well.
At Grave's End - I agree with Aleh, I was a mess thinking of Bones in that book as well!

The Host An Enchanted Season (Includes Psy-Changeling, #3.5; Murphy Sisters, #1) Born of Night (The League, #1) Lover Awakened (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #3) At Grave's End (Night Huntress, #3)

message 26: by Shawna (new)

2835091 Acheron was a tear jerker for me... and of coarse, New Moon

message 27: by Debbie (last edited 22 days ago, 07:12AM) (new)

2474586 I have a couple that fit that category....
The Host
A Gentle Rain

The Host A Gentle Rain

message 28: by Tara (last edited 22 days ago, 07:13AM) (new)

2390440 I'm such a cry baby, I can't even remember all the times I cried. I was never sobbing outright it was more I was reading and the I suddenly realized there were tears, but I can't remember all the specific books. But I know I cried during scenes in these (of course this was just the last 2 months):

Acheron (Dark-Hunter, #16) Bad Moon Rising (Dark Hunter, #19) Lover Revealed (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #4)Lover Unbound (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #5) Lover Enshrined (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #6) Lover Avenged (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #7) Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1)

That was so sad. I don't remember being disturbed by a UF like that in quite some time.

I absolutely adore him, so the aftermath of the events (trying desperately to keep this spoiler free) just crushed me.

message 31: by Debbie (new)

2474586 I haven't read any of them yet, I guess now I know to expect a few tears. I am the same way Tara, I cry on so many of them I can't keep track, but there are just some that stand out.

message 32: by DarkHeart (new)

1847538 On the whole, they aren't sad, but that one had some emotional bits. My favorite book of the year though!

message 33: by Christy (new)

2225408 The Eye of Night was one of the few books to make me cry.

message 34: by Jinnifer (new)

2764050 I see so many books on here that I have read and I have cried in almost all of them!!! :) I just got through with The Lovely Bones, Thirteen Reasons Why, and Life as we knew it, all back to back. Talk about a cry-fest in all three of these books.

message 35: by new_user (new)

1365355 DarkHeart wrote: "I absolutely ado..."

I know, he was like the epitome of goodness, so to see that happen to such a guy... Ouch. And it was so realistic, reminiscent of modern "revenge" killings when some thug's trying to send a message to a vice cop, etc.

message 36: by Andrea (last edited 21 days ago, 12:35PM) (new)

2496970 New Moon (Twilight, #2) My heart was broken when Edward left!!!
Shadow Kiss (Vampire Academy, #3) And the end of Shadow Kissed broke one broke my heart too!

message 37: by Jessa (new)

2817062 The whole Outlander series made me an emotional wreck. The things Jamie goes through in the first book broke my heart to pieces.

*Spoiler alert*

Destined for an Early Grave (Night Huntress, #4)Destined for an Early Grave had me bawling like a baby when Bones left Cat.

message 38: by Andrea (new)

2496970 Yeah that one made me cry too!

message 39: by Mersina (new)

2875657 I have to agree!!! I was in Tears, in shock, and kept saying 'no no no it can not be true.'

Josie wrote: "Shadow Kiss (Vampire Academy, #3)

message 40: by Charlotte (new)

1665215 My top three - in no particular order:

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Harry Potter, #7) - when Harry's walking into the forest and when Hagrid's carrying him out - OMG.

New Moon (Twilight, #2) - He left her - how could he leave her?? How could she believe what he said???

Captain Corelli's Mandolin - I know it's not PNR or UF or Fantasy - but the aftermath of the firing squad just ripped me into pieces. That's pure love.

Once I finish Lover Awakened (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #3) I'm moving onto Shadow Kiss (Vampire Academy, #3) , I'll make sure I have plenty of tissues handy.

message 41: by Lynn (new)

2470399 The Guarduin by Nicholas Sparks I was sobbing and I shed a few tears reading Shiver.

message 42: by Shannon (new)

2524324 I have a new one to add to my list of tear jerkers:

Blaze of Memory - Toward the end of that book just tore me up! Definitely a tear-fest on my part.

Blaze of Memory (Psy-Changeling, #7)

message 43: by new_user (new)

1365355 Me too, Shannon. ;_; That was awful.

message 44: by Sarah (last edited 12 days ago, 05:23AM) (new)

2739654 Oh my gosh - there are so many (I've read 240+ books so far this year), but here are a good few...

**spoiler alert**

Prey by Rachel Vincent - when Faythe's brother Ethan dies and they think Mark is dead
Lover Awakened by J.R. Ward - basically the entire book
Evermore by Lynn Viehl - basically the entire book
Blood Promise by Richelle Mead - when Rose and Dimitri are on the bridge and he realizes what he should have said
The Darkest Whisper by Gena Showalter - mostly the parts regarding Paris

Prey (Shifters, #4) Lover Awakened (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #3) Evermore (Darkyn, #5) Blood Promise (Vampire Academy, #4) The Darkest Whisper (Lords of the Underworld, #4)

message 45: by DarkHeart (new)

1847538 LOL, Sarah, while I couldn't agree more with your comment on Prey - you might possibly want to put a spoiler warning on your post, as you post gives away a huge event in the book. =)

message 46: by Jessica (new)

Nophoto-u-25x33 The first book I ever really cried over was Harry Potter 5 and 7. Then:

New Moon-stephenie meyers
Undead Series-Mary janice Davidson (I cried at least once during all of them)
The Vampire's Bride-Gena Showalter
Sunday's at Tiffany's-James Patterson

message 47: by Jenn (new)

2900663 I've never cried reading any book except The Host and couldn't stop. I had to keep drying my eyes.

message 48: by Teresa (new)

981871 New Moon made me cry too, which pissed me off to no end. LOL. I HATE crying over kids books!

There was a kenyon book that made me bawl, now I don't remember which one it was. The heroine dies and is brought back as a shade I think. I remember having to put the book down until I could breathe again (My nose stuffs something fierce when I cry)

message 49: by Gina (new)

Nophoto-u-25x33 I definitely cried at Shadow Kiss and At Grave's End over Bones, but I also cried over Kisten's death in (I think) The Outlaw Demon Wails. And I shed a couple of tears over Jesse & Paul near the end of Hell's Belles.

message 50: by Ann (new)

426768 Ok, New Moon was a definate tear jerker. And, one that I re-read regularily (and, even after 40 years, STILL cry at the ending) is The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress. My very first crush was on Mike (one of the main "characters" in this book. Even if he WAS a computer) which is why I LOVED R2D2 and C3PO in SWs. :o) The most recent thing that I cried my eyes out over was a movie tho. It was "Taking Chance" a movie starring Kevin Bacon. We never got to actually "See" Chance until the very end of the movie, during the credits, when the Phelps family allowed some of their home movies of Chance at different ages to be shown. I remember my Dad pulling "Escort" duty once. Maybe that's why I cry with it, because what Dad when through was NOTHING like what happened with Chance. But then again--it WAS Vietnam, and the climate in this country was so different.

I also cried while reading The Ship Who Sang and again during Moreta's Ride Moreta, Dragonlady of Pern / Nerilka's Story.
