334075 Ideas:

About Comoros: A Fish Caught in Time: The Search for the Coelacanth (the author spent half a year in Comoros plus two additional visits of unknown length).

By a Comorian: Une suite à Moroni Blues (available at amazon.fr).

Nophoto-f-25x33 Hi, I've been away from the group for ages as work has been a bit mad recently. Determined to tackle Africa in my reading in 2010. Did anyone read A Fish Caught in Time? I've just ordered it from Amazon for a penny plus postage.

1386971 I haven't gotten a copy yet but plan to...i think the group is in Chad through December and then it's on to Comoros...unless i'm not remembering my alphabets, which could very well be the case! :D

334075 I've read A Fish Caught in Time and thought it was very interesting. I'll also read Une suite à Moroni Blues, but slowly and next to the French dictionary.

1253753 For Comoros, we could also read "Last of the Pirates" by Samantha Weinberg. Or "Human Spirits A Cultural Account of Trance in Mayotte" by Michael Lambek.

Any thoughts on preference or availability?

1548050 does anybody know anything about "Last of the Pirates" i.e. is it fiction or non-fiction?

message 9: by Shoshanapnw (last edited 9 days ago, 08:23PM) (new)

334075 I'd assume non-fiction, since that's her genre.

Mayotte is one of the Comoros islands, but it's a French possession, not part of the country Comoros.

1253753 Do people want to vote or shall we just read "A Fish Caught in Time", which sounds quite interesting?

message 11: by Shoshanapnw (new)

334075 I don't have a strong preference. I've recently read A Fish Caught in Time.

1548050 I'd be happy with "A Fish." It should be relatively easy for people to get.

1253753 Alright, let's read "A fish caught in time" then!
