CD | 162 comments Hope everyone had a great and joyous Christmas. And cleaned up in the book department!! I gave and received books and book accessories including markers and lights.

So, we need a topic . . .
How about Non-fiction War/Millitary History. Any era, any country, any language (a few of my favorites were not in English originally). This is a topic that we can allow some flexibility with and there are many options.

So, to start -

An Army at Dawn The War in Africa, 1942-1943
by
Rick Atkinson

Ok, Nonfiction now instead of fiction is going to be an interesting topic. And I really like to read about the American Civil War in particular, so let's see what I can provide.

I'll start with WW2.
Blitzkrieg by Robert Wernick

Divided Waters The Naval History of the Civil War by Ivan Musicant

I love to read about the naval battles of the Civil War, especially the ironclads.

Yes, a biography would be perfect.

That's a little more espionage than military but we'll use it.

CD | 162 comments There is another 'M' that is a book that you might not read but is a fascinating story and that is

The Moving Appeal Mr. McClanahan, Mrs. Dill, and the Civil War's Great Newspaper Run

It is one of those almost forgotten stories of war that is about something other than just battle and carnage.

message 448: by brian (new)

brian tanabe | 250 comments Hey, CIA is entrenched in the American Military Complex! Or after reading Weiner's book, I should say that the military is historically used to clean up after the CIA! Ha! Just kidding men in black if you are also Goodreads fans and reading this! Love you guys! Ha, ha! Dick Cheney for president!
