Oddvar K. Hoidal

One of the earliest serious biographies of the WWII era traitor from Norway.

Thought I should do two in a row as this is 'my topic' and 'Q' is always tricky!

CD | 156 comments Xenophon's Retreat Greece, Persia, and the End of the Golden Age
by
Robin Waterfield and of course
Xenophon!

Had that one planned 'just in case'. The wages of classical education is having to know some of these obscure folks. First there was old Xeno and then later was Thucydides.

Here's a Y. Let's get a Z so we can get to a new subject. This seems to have been a tough one.
Youth and War: World War I to Vietnam; An Anthology. by Don, Comp. Lawson

CD | 156 comments Someone gets an 'A'!

A minor suggested modification. For those difficult letters including 'Q', 'X', and even 'Z' we might want to allow that the title contains a word that begins with one of those letter even if not the first non-article word. Just a thought if all else fails.

I had some backups for various letters in this last topic, just in case. For some topics it might be more difficult.

Okay, I was going to let someone else pick the next theme, but since no one has, I'll get things rolling again.

Here's the twist this time. You can use any title you want, but as well as beginning with the letter you are at, the title must also include somewhere in it the letter that comes next in order.

For example, if you have A as your letter, your title must also have a B somewhere in it after the A.
So you can use:
The ABominable Snowman Doesn't Roast Marshmallows
or
Adam Bede
or
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

The next person has B and must also have a C somewhere in their title after the B. After that, the next person has C and must have D somewhere in the title after the C. To finish when we get to Z, that title must have A somewhere after the Z. Got the idea? Have at it. :-)

Need another new theme already? Ok, since I'm having fun with a new book challenge, Around the World in 80 Books, the next group must have a geographical referance somewhere in the title (country name, state name, continent name, etc.) (P.S. You can check out the challenge here: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/2... )

CD | 156 comments Hmm, I think we are suppose to be doing fiction aren't we - I suddenly noticed.

Let's go from here. If non-fiction is 'O.K.' I've got a few more. Otherwise I need to dig for titles.

Joseph (BlueManticore) | 1434 comments Mod
Ok, I ammended the rules. Title only must have a country in it, fiction or nonfiction.
