Linda Grace,
I am thoroughly enjoying it, thank you!!!
I have so many "to read" books, it is nice to have help narrowing them down :)

Hopefully next month will be more cheerful :)
I like the ongoing challenge, because it helps me narrow down the books I want to read. Sometimes the list of books I want to read is so overwhelming, that it is helpful to have a topic or theme to narrow it down :D

I really love how she writes. It is so insightful and beautiful. Of the two I've read, What My Mother Doesn't Know is the better.

155288 Agreed. I've read her 4 YA books, and I love the poetry! What My Mother Doesn't Know is my favorite.

1919931 Sara,

This is the second one of her's that I have read and I really think that they have such a great character's voice. Also, my students easily connect with her books. They are also pretty quick reads because they are books in verse.

message 41: by Sara ♥ (new)

155288 How did you like Sonya Sones' book? Have you read any of her others?

1919931 I love audio books. I borrow the CDs from my public library then put them on my mp3 player and listen to thrm while I drive- it really makes commuting pleasant :)

message 32: by Sara ♥ (new)

155288 Yeah, that would be really nice—listening at work. I put them on my Zune and listen as I cook and clean around the house... And I have a cassette tape-to-portable CD player converter for my car; those work with mp3 players, too.

message 31: by Linda Grace (new)

1939651 Audio books huh? For awhile I was reading a lot of books that way because my library has a way to download audiobooks to ipod for the 2 week period you would normally check out the book, but then my ipod stopped working. :( I enjoyed audiobooks because my desk job allows me to listen to books while I am working so that was nice.

message 30: by Sara ♥ (new)

155288 Yeah, I don't know if I would have read them if they weren't in audio format... They're quite quite fat books...

message 29: by Linda Grace (new)

1939651 Good job Sara, I have that series to read at home, but the size does intimidate me somewhat. I will add your name to our scoreboard on the other thread.

message 28: by Sara ♥ (last edited Nov 06, 2009 08:21AM) (new)

155288 I finished Inkdeath by Cornelia Funke yesterday. It was LONG. Good, but LONG. I really liked how it ended... although she kept the ending WIDE OPEN for a spin-off series, didn't she? ;)

message 27: by Linda Grace (new)

1939651 It is long. Good luck with it! :)

message 26: by Sara ♥ (new)

155288 I'm working on finishing up Inkdeath... It's loooonnnngggg...

message 25: by Linda Grace (new)

1939651 Nice one Jo! I will add you to my spreadsheet and update the scoreboard on the other thread! :)

message 24: by Luann (new)

651844 I'm planning to read Johnny and the Dead by Terry Pratchett.

message 23: by Jo (new)

2457455 I read my book this weekend. Road Of The Dead . It was really good.

message 22: by Linda Grace (new)

1939651 Angela, I don't have a minimum number of pages for the ongoing challenges. I will add this to my rules page! :)

message 21: by AngelaSunshine (last edited Nov 03, 2009 06:56AM) (new)

1351914 Linda Grace, are there going to be page minimums for the ongoing challenge books?

message 20: by Sara ♥ (new)

155288 Bueno... Thanks!

message 19: by Linda Grace (new)

1939651 Sounds good, Jo! :)

Those would all be fine. As long as it includes the word. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows would also be accepted.

message 17: by Jo (new)

2457455 I have chosen Road Of The Dead by Kevin Brooks . I am pretty sure that its young adult.

message 16: by Sara ♥ (last edited Oct 29, 2009 09:33AM) (new)

155288 Oh, geez... I gotta start checking the main threads more often... I keep missing stuff! Hmmm... what to read....

EDIT: Do the words "die"/"death"/"dead" need to be exactly that? What about words like "dies" or a book like Inkdeath? Just curious....

message 15: by Jo (new)

2457455 Oh ok cool. Its a good idea! I will try to join in when ever i can :) I will have to think of a book for this catagory.

message 14: by Linda Grace (new)

1939651 Yes, that's exactly it. Every month we will have a new task for one book for that month and will be ongoing so anyone can join in whenever they have time. If you decide to read a book that fits one month and not the next, that's fine too. :)

message 13: by Jo (new)

2457455 Is this challenge just to read one book for november that fits the catagory?

message 12: by Linda Grace (new)

1939651 Thank you Angela. I haven't seen the show, but I was thinking about netflixing it. :D

message 11: by AngelaSunshine (new)

1351914 The Dead Until Dark series is an adult series I'm pretty sure. I've read them, and there's quite a bit of sex. If you've seen the show TrueBlood, you'll get the idea.

message 10: by Mazmum (new)

Nophoto-u-25x33 Tell me about it!

message 9: by Linda Grace (new)

1939651 Mazmum, that one would be okay. That's another series I want to read! I think my TBR wish list is a bit too long. :)
