Hi Christy.
A few years ago, I read a nonfiction book by Jennifer Finney Boylan called She's Not There A Life in Two Genders. It details her life as a man before her gender reassignment surgery as well as lifer afterwards. I really loved the story and found her strength incredible. She currently has a story included in a new book called How Beautiful the Ordinary Twelve Stories of Identity, edited by Michael Cart. It is a collection of stories of identity for young adult readers. Boylan's own story, “The Missing Person” is about being trans, and how it affected her life, and that of her family, when she was young. The collection contains work by lots of writers, including Gregory Maguire, author of Wicked.
